This classic story reminds me a lot of the four real-life expeditions and discoveries of Admiral Byrd to Antarctica. He purportedly encountered "secret ice-free valleys" and his armada of naval warships was said to be soundly defeated by a WW2 enemy who apparently had a secret base (Base 211) burrowed under the Artic ice with advanced weaponry and technology.

This edition of the mountains of madness looks almost like my complete tales of H.P. Lovecraft book the green hard cover with the gold accents. Looking forward to your new Lovecraft content. I haven't read this story yet but it is featured in my complete tales of H.P. Lovecraft book. 🙂❤📚

Keep an eye out for Gou Tanabe's manga adaptations of Lovecraft's work, his version of At the Mountains of Madness was released as two tankobons but is going to get a deluxe edition release from Dark Horse soon-ish, might want to grab that as a buddy for this.

Just fyi, Mountains is his only novel. Everything else he published were short stories. Maybe some were technically novelettes or novellas, but none were novel length. Happy reading

I am subscribed to a guy who reads a lot of Lovecraft short stories. I love short stories and I have listened to a lot of them, and have my descriptive take on his work. I fell like he writes a wordier and less edited Edgar Allen Poe. There are not a lot of author's that can bend and twist the rules of speech to accentuate their wordplay. There are not a lot of them either that can use that many strung-together fifty cent words and alliteration and get away with it. For some reason he can pull it off without sounding writer-pretentious. Thank you for the section where you read some of the text. I listened to some of Chistmas Carol live. You done good.

hello Mike. Did you know, that there is a Japanese music band, which makes their songs based on lovecraft? like at the mountains of madness, or color out of space and dunwich horror. Ningen Isu is the name of the band. you should check them out, if your into rock/metal/blues
