Sadly, I set off on my own today heading northward. Gavin stayed at Mohican to heal up for a few more days with the plan to shuttle up to me when his ankle was healed enough to hike. It was sad to hike without him, but this was the best decision for us right now.

It’s sweet that where you go , Gavin is with you in thought. That Father Son love is an example of real Love and respect toward each other .Wishing Gavin strength inHealing, ps, yummy to blueberries. Also, Those Trees blew me away how powerful Beavers can chew through a tree . Another wonder of nature. 🙏💪🌺🦌🦫🏞🌈❤

So delighted to see you moving forward. I think it was a good leadership move for Dad to make...and with your note, I'm delighted to hear that Hawkeye has rejoined you! Praise the Lord.

Free fresh berries and the Duncan guys (plus Bullfrog): the best magic the trail ever gave me. Love you guys!

I can see the emotions for your son, I would be the same way, praying for you both to get back together soon, praying for you both always! Great views on here! So cool to see the evidence of Beavers gnawing on the trees. Great video!!

We were only apart for three days of hiking, which is about what we planned on. Gavin was able to make a very mature decision about when he felt good enough to hike again and I’m proud of him for that.

I have never seen a tree that a beaver has eaten and took done so I have to say for me this is the best so far. So amazing what an animal can do

Same here. I was just so surprised to see no beavers.

We met last month as you were approaching Duncannon and my buddy, John and I were heading south. I'm from Towson, if you need a Baltimore connection and place to stay overnight, let me know.

I don’t understand why you just didn’t wait with him.

There were multiple reasons why Hawkeye, my wife, and I decided together for me to hike onward for a few days. We have since been reunited and are moving northward. Thanks for your continued support.

Shame on you for leaving your son and not waiting with him. Incredibly selfish. It’s supposed to be a father son hike. Bonding time. You made it about you.

I appreciate that you’ve watched our videos. Respectfully, I don’t believe one can know the entirety of the situation and all that went into the difficult, but family-made decision for me to move forward for a few days while Hawkeye continued to heal. I hope you’ll continue to enjoy our journey knowing that we’re since reunited and have completed 1420/1450 of this trip together.

@@WaffleHikes WaffleHikes, you and your wife know your son better than anyone else. You made the decision that needed to be made. It was a difficult one, and we can see that you were hurting. I am glad Hawkeye's ankle is getting better and that you are back together. Safe journey. I love this part of the trail, as I hiked NJ last year. No bear in sight yet?

You’re a couple weeks ahead of blueberry 🫐 season on trail. That’s a real nice section of trail. New Jersey is underrated for its beauty in the NW portion of the state. Be bear aware.
