Hi there. In preparation for getting my Atari 2600+ gaming console, I show how I am going about cleaning some Atari 2600 game cartridges. #atari #retrogaming #atari2600
Hi Don, I was thinking of getting a 2600+ myself but I'll wait for your review! I had a 2600 back in 1982 and we spent hours playing those games! I always liked Yars' Revenge and have it as a ROM that runs on a Stella emulator but it's not the same as having the game consol.
Hey there. :) Thanks for the comment. I could just play a lot of those old games on my computer via emulation software (and I have / do occasionally).... But, to have an actual physical console that you use the original physical game cartridges with (and it can play both 2600 and 7800 cartridges), I feel I will enjoy such retro-games even more and it'll give me much more nostalgia factor as I use and play on the new console. I suppose I could have hunted down an original 40 something year-old Atari 2600 console, but then it might not even work, could be ready to go kaput and it could be a hassle trying to hook-up to a modern TV or monitor. Where as the new 2600+ console (which isn't really too expensive considering) is brand new and also has the ease of being able to hook-up to modern TVs or monitors via HDMI connection.
