I was born in 1972 same year Atari came out and my first home console was The Atari Super Pong in 1976 at age 4, got the VCS for my birthday in 77 at age 5, got the 5200 in 82 at age 10, got the 7800 both in 84 and 86. Got the Atari Jaguar in 93. Yes I been getting so much Atari games in store one of the owner stated to call me ATARIBOY and that the nick name I use to this day. Still dont have the NEW VCS yet but maybe someday.
Why is the Spacewar 2000 Jaguar prototype not included in this? The game is listed in the 2022 Atari IP Catalog. You guys still own it and claim it. Im sure people would want to see it included.
I prefer the look of this minimal graphics version than the recharged version… that just seems overly done for a simple game just for the sake of it. Shame I won’t get to try it, I doubt I’d pay what they want even if I was a hardened fan of all the games, way overpriced.
@@ytanonymity3585 You're thinking of the Jack Tramiel Era of Atari (1984-96). Even then, that was just 12 years of the shitty corporate greed you're complaining about
@@atari I actually use to play an Atari Flashback with my grandfather back in elementary school (2004-2006). We played Asteroids, Centipede, Pong, and surprisingly an unreleased title called Frog Pond which was playable on the Atari Flashback 2 plug in.
@@atari Atari! You can't just reply to people like they're your friends! You don't want to seem weak against the competition! Never do that kind of thing! Nintendo would never act like an individuals friend. This is because Nintendo likes to be professional.
Just received my copy yesterday, and THIS is how you do a celebration. I'm glad this wasn't the "50th anniversary collection" because this is a huge celebration. The level of quality and love this has received is genuinely insane. (Worth 40$ for tempest 2000 alone lmao)
We're super glad to hear you're finding such joy in our celebratory collection! As with any round birthday, we figured looking back to the past would be a proper way to celebrate - thus we brought a whole heap of old gems to modern consoles. Glad to hear we hit the nail on the head! Enjoy!
Atari for the next atari hardware after the vcs are you planning on releasing exclusive atari games for it? It would be great if you did and would boost hardware sales
@@mrmojorisin8752 in fact, both consoles like Coleco and intellivision did have a short live, because of their sales back in the 80s where the crash of 83 did exist to all the employees who work there so they will have to stop making a video game consoles productions except for Atari and Nintendo

@@atari You're welcome! Even though my age 21 who born on a late 2000, you or the Atari is still in my heart. I can't wait for the new Atari collection like this! 😃
@@ytanonymity3585 Correction: WAS a Scum Company (and you have Jack Tramiel to thank for that, let alone his son Sam for taking half of the company down). The original Atari is no more. The company now exists in name only
@@Jason-vo9pb they didn't want to show that in the trailer this is not the first time that did they with the new atari vcs but i'm used to it now i don't mind it now in my opinion that's just me
Damn, looks like a good collection. I would definitely get this on the Switch, just to look back at these old games from the 80-90s lmao. I’ve been dipping my toes into retro gaming since Covid came and this is exactly what I want right now.
Ordering this today. Super stoked and I’ve never even played any Atari console before. I’ve legit been waiting for a package just like this. Well done!!! 👏🏻
I was the first kid in my neighborhood to have an Atari and that was like an event in my neighborhood. Children from other streets showed up and wanted to see what it was. My Atari came with the game Oink! That was a unique feeling, like to be the big bad wolf of the street blowing on those little pigs in their houses. Thanks Atari for all, you've really changed the world in a very positive way! PS - and thanks to mommy for buying it to me!
Happy anniversary!!! Im gonna need a new tee shirt for this!! :) Thank you for this collection and for adding in Jaguar games! I will be picking this up for sure!
I looked on the steam page and notice the impossible is going to happen! Remember the Swordquest games and the 4th game Airworld never being made? Well guess what, apparently it was finally finished and is said that it will also be in the collection! All the more reason this might be a must buy as we can finally complete the prophecy!
Amongst all the great old games, I spotted my personal favorite - Major Havoc - and there was even a shout out to Star Raiders - which got my to buy my Atari 400 (which I still have)! Looking forward to this since I lived through that time.
If finally Jaguar games are available on the VCS this will be awesome. Let's hope this comes to fruition! I had hoped the VCS would have came with the Jaguar on there already, but if able to be added down the line this will be great!
The only thing that might be a downer for me is that licensing issues might prevent them from including Alien vs Predator in the package. It was arguably the Jaguar's greatest or at least second greatest game (depending on how you feel about Tempest 2000). One thing I'm curious about is how the Jaguar controller's keypad (basically F-keys on a controller) will be translated to modern controllers. I can see it working well with a mouse and keyboard setup on PC, but modern controllers might be a challenge.
@Kyle D Jaguar games are crap 90% of them lmao. They should remake the bad ones and make them good. Games like cybermortph , fight for life, checkered flag and kasumi ninja are trash but could have been good.
Star Raiders was such a fantastic game. My older brother bought a 400 ( and later upgraded to an 800) because of that one game. Played the hell out of it.
Even though I'm not a big Atari expert,i salute this legendary game company for really changing the world with it's most famous classics like centipede, asteroids and pong, happy 50th anniversary old gaming timers.
There are soooo many classic games I have super fond memories playing as a kid. Anytime I would see a Flashback, I would hope some of them would pop up. Like Berzerk! or Keystone Kapers. There were a few games I know got re-envisioned on PS1 like Asteroids, Missile Command, Pong, etc... and I always hoped those trends would continue. I did purchase the Breakout and Asteroids Recharged games. Seeing updates for Haunted House and a few others in this trailer, makes me have hopes that one day even more Recharged games come out!
This gonna be on Steam? Was really hoping for more DLC for the Atari Vault with more arcade and 7600 games on it instead since many of the games in this new collection are already on the other one.
Day one purchase for me. Looking forward to playing this in 4K on my Xbox Series X, next gen is now! Haha. Joking aside, it looks awesome.... and happy anniversary!
Hope that there's a fair amount of Jaguar and Lynx games. I doubt it, but would be nice - they never see the light of day. Also, holy crap, AirWorld is finally happening? That's amazing.
There are like four companies; this one only has games from the first one, what started as the console division. Arcade stuff is owned by NRS now. Not sure what happened to the 2000s Atari or the microcomputer stuff.
But one thing is for certain: the company/companies now have no connection to the video game juggernaut named Atari in the early 80s-other than that they’ve bought intellectual property rights. Surprising numbers of people think Atari now is essentially the same company as the one from the 70s and 80s.
