A day after I published this video, Robb Alvey posted a statement to the group page doubling down on the conflation of RU-vid and 'spam', while indicating that concessions could be made for 'pre-approved' content, etc. The post did not reference me by name (although it plainly referred to my complaint), offered no apology, and merely indicated that future posts were unlikey to be removed regardless of whether I participated in the group in other ways besides posting videos. I have now left the group.

It was reported to me by a friend that somebody on the Atariage Facebook page had asked about me and why I hadn't been on Atariage forum in a while, and some ^%^$^%$^ said that I had died. Clearly this person saying this was some sociopath having fun. This is why I hate Facebook, I don't understand why people go on there, especially when they can just go on the Atariage forum.

Well, the videos are plainly Atari-related in an Atari group. It seems like a really big stretch that it would be treated as irrelevant spam by anyone with eyes.

Why is there even an Atariage group on Facebook? Doesn't that just detract from the Atariage forums?

I guess it's all part of the online presence, and there are plenty of members. I seem to get next to zero engagement on anything I post there, however, so that partly explains why I rarely go back to engage in further discussion, and suggests that the material might simply be of limited interest to the group members anyway.

@flashjazzcat Ha, I will be honest, I always suspect the reason some people pitch their wares on Facebook vs the forums is that they have been banned from the forums in the past. I am not sure how effect the moderators are for the AtariAge FB group is.

@@slaapliedje Ironically, I tend not to post links to my videos on the forum proper (where the same Facebook moderator is a global forum mod, I will note) since it seemed to me that Facebook was the more appropriate venue for the sharing of video material. Apparently (according to the group post Robb Alvey published this morning, about thirty minutes before I left the group), the current policy regarding videos has been in place since 2020, regardless of the fact it (to the best of my knowledge) only resulted in the suppression of my posts during the past ninety days. Why? Don't know. This is altogether too much hassle and drama for the sake of posting a video link once or twice a month and garnering one or two likes. Enough, already. No more.

@@flashjazzcat Yeah, can't say as I blame you. I have definitely used your videos in the past, got my Incognito installed using one, though have still been too chicken to drill for the button. 😜

@@slaapliedje Thanks! I need to make an update on that. There was actually never any need to drill anything, regardless of the fact Candle's original instructions suggested doing so. No need for a standoff under the power board (since there's a screw by design which ends up clamping the front of the PCB to the top case), and the wires can route from the top to the bottom around the side of the board.

I help admin some FB groups. So long as the post is relevant to the group, I let it thru. From what I can see, your videos were always Atari-related, so why block them??? To me, spammers are those coming into a group posting stuff, usually to sell things, that aren't relevant to the group. Those people I not only block their posts but usually kick them out.

You're moderating differently, using intelligence and context to judge. What the FB admin of AA is doing could be replaced with a dumb script that simply blocks all RU-vid. . If I had a role that could be replaced by the dumbest script, I would be questioning life choices. Scripts are cheap.

Judging by what you’ve said Jon and the lack of interaction or interest from group members on that page I personally wouldn’t bother. I’m in a couple of Amiga groups and they generally seem to be very interactive.

If you look at the group content as a whole, it seems to me that 90 per cent of the content is console-focused. So, weighing up the levels of engagement generated and the amount of discussion required simply to ensure content isn't deleted going forward, my conclusion is that it is simply not worth my time posting there at all.

That's actually a very good point. In fact the maximum number of videos I could have shared on the page (assuming I shared all relevant material) since the beginning of 2024 is eight, spread fairly evenly over a five-month period. Since the end of March (the month in which the last non-rejected post was made), a maximum of four videos were shared, all of which were apparently deleted.
