I've crossed threads with Robb Alvey. Ever since he came on board, you can't post videos. I was muted for a few days because I posted some videos (related to Atari products). He then muted me again when I disagreed with him on Donkey Kong lore. Muted for "creating drama". So, I'm not a fan of Robb.

Most interesting. Robb's name has kept coming up again and again in discussions on this matter. Nevertheless, I wait to hear from Albert, and if the explanation is unsatisfactory, or if no explanation is offered, I'll just cross the AtariAge page off the list.

@@flashjazzcat - I sent an email to Albert after the 2nd incident. No reply. Robb is pretty proud of his relationship with Albert. It might be tough to get through to Albert if he is tight with Robb.

Turns out Robb removed them. Albert explained Robb's plausible rationale and said the deleted posts will be reinstated.

Knowing those in this community, I would say the latter. I write from experience. There are some great people, but unfortunately, the twats make most of the noise.

Yah. I had a Facebook post pulled after several years, apparently by a bot with apparently no understanding of irony. I just don't Facebook anymore.

It is a miserable wasteland of nonsense, for sure. If it wasn't for the fact I get work via the Meta Business Manager, I'd scrap the whole thing as well.

Yeah. Deleted the phone app ages ago. I think I login to facebook via web page maybe four times a year for birthday notices.

@flashjazzcat I became utterly annoyed that some people are too big of annoyances on forums, but still do projects I am interested in so I am kind of forced to use Facebook to find out about such projects. I would have deleted my account there long ago if it were not for that.

I had one post marked as threatening. I don't recall which 80s movie it was, but it was becoming a call/response series of posts. It may have been the line in Fast Times that got Brad fired.

@@SyntheToonz With its constant updating of information the Facebook app was an enormous battery suck. I deleted it years ago. If I EVER need to check in on Facebook I go through Safari and close the window when I'm done.

Albert did eventually reply, and confirmed that Robb Alvey removed the videos. The reason given was that they were apparently posted without descriptions (which I found puzzling, since I always share the videos with the original descriptions intact), that I don't commonly interact with the group in any way, and that Robb had no idea who I was. Albert has spoken to Robb and the deleted content will be restored, and will not be removed again should I decide to share videos to the group again in the future. However, given the inferred attitude that videos in general are seen as a bit spammy on that group, I may not bother.

We stopped posting on All Atari Age forums / AA FB, etc about our podcasts and videos (all are majority Atari content) because they get removed right away.

I had been on Atariage for years and would post now and again when I thought something was interesting and hadn't seen it before. Then out of the blue I got two of my posts removed saying they were duplicates. I would generally look at the past week or so posts to see if anyone else had posted it to try to limit duplicating others stuff, but unless someone is spamming the group constantly, they need to pull the reins on the admins/mods being so overzealous. I left the group. No sweat off my brow!

It seems to have been acknowledged that the moderator was a little over-zealous in this case, but the explanation (see follow-up video) seems reasonable to me.

It could be something about AtariAge being owned by Atari, and you having "atari" in your user name. I could understand that, but they should have contacted you.

The group should list the rules for posting. I bet you have to be a member. A new admin not knowing you and going by the "letter of the law" just removed the videos as a check box action.

I've yet to find any platform that has clear rules. Anytime something like this happens they ghost you, or if they do respond it's a form-letter (cut and pasted) that tells you nothing, or it's so overly vague the answer is never clear. No platform has clear rules, always muddled in jargon and word gymnastics. They do this on purpose to give tyrannical admins the right to do whatever TF they want. I left farcevbook almost 2 decades ago, I wasn't banned, I had very little "drama" on FB, I just realized it was a waste of time. So I have no love loss for FB.

I haven't followed the FB group page in years. I asked to be removed after the moderator picked a fight with me. Actual website is fine. FB is different

Well... If your content is "not compatible" with either atariage or atari then those entities become incompatible with me... It's also annoying (to say the least) that content created by thousands of contributors becomes a property of a single corporation with a flick of the "transfer money" switch.

Robb Alvey did remove the videos and the rationale for doing so was to avoid the group being swamped with video posts, etc. The deleted posts will be reinstated and apparently further posts will not be removed, but it seems to be they don't want people advertising their videos over there.

What happening with Facebook groups are amazing. Friends you though support you turn against you. After all, they are at another end of an internet connection, and don't know who they are, really.

There's a reason I call Facebook - Failbook or Trashbook as someone who has a group on there. The post claims that the moderator made an action, but this is not always the case as a group moderator. I've had posts flagged by the system claiming a member posted spam, but the post was perfectly on topic. Their system is quite buggy, and the moderators may not have a clue on what happened. This system doesn't aways give a clear reason why something is flagged. This is just many of my frustrations with Facebook. Don't get me started on the bot accounts, true spam/malicious posts, and the poor security of the site.

The Facebook group is independent of Atari’s ownership. They probably were advised by Facebook to change the security settings so only members could post. Either that or one of the Admins - not Albert, of course - is being a DBag specifically to you.

Yes. I share them with 'include original post' checked and I believe the posts as shown on the group page are presented in context with covering descriptions.

My guess is that using the word "killed" in the title triggered an automatic flag because of your "violent" language. Perhaps if you used the word "ended" that would not have happened. Just a thought.

@@flashjazzcat I understand your pain. I cannot leave a comment anywhere on any Yahoo site under my normal log-in. It's been going on for 3-4 years now. If I just start typing even one letter, even just a period, I am immediately blocked. I have complained several times and they do nothing about it. Very frustrating.
