I'm actually crying right now. I am so glad I found your channel. I had the left half of my cerebellum removed due to an avm. I had a procedure done, but everything went wrong and I had to have emergency brain surgery and they just removed the whole left side of my cerebellum.. I woke up completely paralyzed. I had to relearn how to walk and talk. I was in my early 20s, so I was too old to get help if I was a child and I was too young to get help if I was a senior. I was in a lost area. I have done and tried many things. I have been to many physical therapists, but they don't do anything to help all of the issues I have. This definitely includes balance issues as well as ataxia. My surgery was 16 years ago, but I want to do everything I can to be the best version I can be. I think I'm going to look into a neuro physical therapist. I honestly didn't know this was a specialty. I have really been let done by all of the professionals I feel. I still try to keep a positive attitude and try to live my life the best I can. Sorry this was so long. I am just overwhelmed and blessed that I found you. Thank you.

I'm so sorry you have had this problem for so many years - I feel sorry for myself and I've only had it for 1.5 yrs. I finally saw a Neurologist last year and he actually gave me a diagnosis of Spinocerebellar Ataxia, what a relief that was to finally have a diagnosis. He can't do anything to help but it might be useful for you to look at all these replies. I do wish you all the best with your recovery and I hope you get your life back. Warmest regards, Carol

I have been struggling with balance issues and walking issues for a little over a year now and they still don't have a diagnosis in neurology here I am getting a second opinion in April of 2022 at the University at UW and I am excited I also need to exercise more but I've been so overwhelmed with this because my whole life has been about good balance and good walking blah blah blah I am freaked out and hope they can come with something and make what I have like I used to be. I guess power is knowledge I am grateful everyday for a lot of things. But I'm not sure if this is permanent or not yet, I hope not. Thank you for all of your comments I don't feel alone

Thanks again for a great video and explanation. This is what I needed for my love one that had a stroke due to a Malformation that leaked on the left cerebellum. Thanks God that Malformation was removed back in December 2019 and we are back to training. Based on what you mention in this video and now I remember some of the therapists lingo that of course I didn't know what they were saying and have to asked them again and again it looks that it is a matter of time...and training. I can see now why the Dr. In Physical Medicine and the Neurologist are so positive when they both told me it will be fine as soon all that area gets healed... Thank you, God Bless you.

Thank you! I am 80, and had a TBI (two, actually, within 2 weeks of each other)and am working on balance, strength, and posture. I "graduated " from Home Health last month and am going to a PT at an office now. Standing in a corner with feet just wide enough not to fall was my first exercise, and then I got to the point where I could stand with feet touching each other. I am glad to be reminded--still need to do it. I also started going to a chiropractor and an acupuncturist.

I was dx’d by a geneticist last year at age 51. Both my teen girls have it as well, but both suffer much more than I did at their age. It breaks my mama heart. I wish more docs were knowledgeable about EDS!! I’ve been accused of making things up my entire life by both family and doctors (dx as either “conversion disorder”, or just flat out lying). I am 80 years old and prior to my accident I have been having problems with my balance and now the problem is worse. I have been doing exercises for balance, but not sure how effective they have been. Thank you very much for your expertise in this matter. I will take advantage of your exercises.

Thank you so much for addressing this rare disease which robs us from all quality of life. I do your exercises for Ataxia often, but I do have a question. Will these exercises actually cause regeneration of our brain cerebellum? If not, please explain how they can help us with our balance. Thank you!

Ataxia#. I have seen 4 Neurologists and take every test known to medicine(that was the quote from the last Doctor) but he said "what you have will not get better but will probably get worse maybe PT will help" but wont diagnose as Ataxia. only Ataxia Doctor here in Metro Atlanta gave apt for July 2023. I can't walk with out staggering, stairs I must have helper. This has been coming on since my Extensive Spine Surgery. I have been a professional Ballet Dancer and and Gymnast ( came to late to that game). I have to get this out to someone who UNDERSTANDS. I have started doing your exercises for several issues. The Balance Corner is really hard for me right now. I can't tell you how happy I am to find you.....I'm a fit and determined to lady of a tiny 83. Bless You.

Hi. My name is Sabah. I am from Africa. Your videos are a life changer for my brother who is a stroke survivor. We are a very backward country. Therapists do not believe in recovery. But my sister and I are reaching for the stars. We believe our brother will fully recover God willing. We thank God we found your videos. My brother is 36. He had his stroke 2 months ago. He lost ability to talk and has right side paralysis. The left side of his brain is fully destroyed. But we started your exercises a few weeks ago and pur brother is walking with a walker now. Our goal is to help him to master stairs cuz I live in 5th floor and I want to take care of him when he leaves the hospital. Please dr. Help me. And share your best tips for hand and arm recovery. God bless you. You are the best. Thanks and we are grateful forever.

I also had a massive stroke one year now. I had the exact symptoms as your brother had. I am a nurse by profession. I still go to therapy twice a week. We don’t have neuro therapist close by. I found Dr Tobias’channel and I’ve been following her videos. She’s helped me with my recovery. I was able to go up and down the stairs with my husband’s assistance. It was difficult but the more he practice the more confident he becomes. I also lost my speech and right side paralysis. I wish him well.

#ataxia Thank You! I have been trying to get community physio help with this for almost a year. Does anyone else have episodic ataxia as a result of a Covid infection? Mine comes and goes. Sometimes I can walk normally for a short time and then it becomes ataxic or it just happens when I get up in the morning or after sitting down for a while. I had M.E. With very slight ataxic gait before that. I also have slurred speech.
@lauragott2122

Hello jojo! Yes, my ataxia is also intermittent. I am gluten intolerant and research says that gluten in all grains can cause neuro damage in those genetically susceptible. Check out Dr. Peter Osborne on You Tube. I also notice that my walking will be worse when I get fatigued. It is always mostly normal in the mornings. I too believe I have ME/CFS, as my brain feels inflamed often. I get migraine headaches with or without the inflammation feeling. The reason I am mentioning this is becuz I firmly believe that the latent Epstein-Barre virus, like Covid, is the main trigger for the inflammation that caused antibodies to attack my nerves. Working with GF/DF diet, supplements and now hoping these excercises will be helpful. Going to start on them ASAP! Hope you all benefit from them as well. Our brains are so important to health, must commit to protocols with determination for perseverance. Take care and Best wishes for your success!

I recently started having balance problems, I feel as if I'm going to tip forwards all the thim. It's like I've literally forgotten how to walk. It's worse with in public with movement. I'm fairly healthy. Been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes but not on any medication as the doctors told me I'm only slightly over what I should be. I do have back of head pains but feels more like frost bite. Neck ach to sometimes. It's really starting to get me down as I just don't want to leave the house. My, ears feel full at times, like they need to pop. It's juat so frustrating. I don't smoke or drink either.

Hi! I am 59 years old, I had two strokes in 2016 with no damage and major paralysis of my right side and I couldn't swallow. Thank God that with therapy I resumed walking and piano playing, sewing, etc. then in 2018 I had another stroke which weakened the right side and damaged my vocal cords. Thanks to God and a change of meds, I think the strokes are controlled. Lately I've been diagnosed with Patulous Eustachian Ear and dizziness. Thank you for these exercises, as I have seen some improvement in the dizziness!
