Hi I'm very interested in this. I looked on your kickstarter and it says it'll be available in January 2019. Is it possible to receive the backpack sooner? Also, how much is this in US $?'s. Mahalo from Hawaii!
Hi! The price (with the pledges available now) would be 300usd shipped. We can't guarantee that the packs will be shipped before January, but we will do whatever we can to start shipping earlier.
Thank you for the quick reply. I think your bag really has a distinct look that separates itself from most others on the market. Most bags I've seen on youtube are really boring or trying to do too much. I feel like the ATD1 finds that balance of form and function. I want that "perfect" bag that can be for daily use and for trips that still looks stylish and very functional. I love the way your bag looks as a daily carry and how when you really need the extra space it has that too. Unfortunately I'm going on a trip in January so I'll need a bag by then. $300 is a little pricey as well. Good luck on the kickstarter! I'll definitely keep my eye on this pack.
Hi Paul! Italian manufacturing and materials come at their cost, but we are working with our suppliers to lower the price for the re-launch August 24th!
i am interested in getting a backpack with both roll-top & clamshell like this one but I agree with you that this one is too expensive. Can you please indicate to me which other bags you have seen similar for much less? would appreciate the info and thanks!
One of your replies in the comments of this video say you are working to reduce the price and that it will be sold for 230 euros, and yet, 4 years later an obvious success, the price has been raised to an absurd ~£400. How can you possibly justify this? I would be happy to pay 200 or maybe 250 but four HUNDRED. How? Are you greedy?
Hey, thank you for your message! Can't find where we wrote what you read. Instead, we wrote it would have been launched on its kickstarter campaign for 230€, which happened. if we sold our packs for 200€, we could just quit making them. If we were greedy, as you kindly suggested, we would just start making packs that take less fabrics, with traditional cutting machines, and a less meticulous process. Still then, making them in Italy, it wouldn't be sustainable at that price. We are the only company i know laser cutting all parts, one pack at a time and releasing serialized packs but still made by one or two artisans. Even at 439€ our mark up is still lower than other companies, let alone the big ones, but now enough to keep making them. Just for your info: a 200€ TNF (or Patagonia, Arcteryx, you name it) bag costs max 40€ to be made and distributed. We explained here why we raised the price, if you are interested into the topic: atdsupply.com/blogs/news/calm-after-the-storm-about-production-atd1-pricing-and-next-products Peace!
