Seriously man. So many games I haven't completed. Dozens upon dozens of major games I still need to finish. I'm still digging back into my backlog to Tales of arise and Ishin like a dragon for Pete's sake
I remember back in the day when I really enjoyed and squeezed those really long games (Skyrim, fallout, etc) but nowadays I actively avoid games that take 20+ hours
Really recommend Witch Spring 3 Refine if that's the case. Gameplay is like atelier games and is only 15 hours more or less with 3 possible endings. Super underrated gem of a game.
Great review, as usual. This Atelier franchise is starting to tickle my fancy more and more. So weird that I was completely unaware of its existence until just a couple years ago! I might have to check out those games one day (when I actually have time to play such long games!).
You never will gonna make free time, not if you have a full time job and a family which is my case but you can use some sleeping time to play, that’s what I do, after all am gonna rest forever once I die 😅
@@doafan455 Thing is, that's what I already do! And still not enough time to play just the games in my backlog, so not about to add even more timesinks in there! 😅🤣
Atelier Iris 1 and 2 were terrific traditional RPGs and my introduction to the series way back when. I’m not as big of a fan of the current games. For the earlier games, I was always curious about Atelier Violet the most. I downloaded this on Steam and will give it a try later tonight. Look forward to biting something off a little smaller for a change.
it’s cool to see the criticism of synthesis being too hands-off is addressed by nature of this series having as many entries as it does. Looking forward to trying this out after only playing the newer titles like Sophie and Ryza.
I've never played an Atelier game before but this one might be the first one I try eventually. I like that as the first title in the series it's simpler and shorter.
Really enjoyed the video as per usual. Watched one of Ircha's videos about the series recently and enjoyed her obvious passion for the games, but it only made it clearer to me that this is not for me - enjoy Atelier fans!
Lol, I can't get into the Rune Factorys games. Love listening to Ircha talk about them. Now Atelier, I fell in love with these games. I didn't know Atelier existed until I started watching Ircha's RU-vid.
At least the characters are more pleasing than the Pokémon BDSP overworld characters, design-wise. It would still be possible to make the characters taller like in Pokémon Let's Go. Anime character designs are great.
My main gripe with this will likely be the chibi art style, although it will never make me not play a game, I'm not a fan of the style. This would be my first dive into Atelier and I feel like this or Ryza would be the perfect point for me to try them.
Looks like a wonderful remake of an old game that atelier fans will love. I am really happy to see a company spend time and money on remakes like these that would more or less still be a niche player base. Price may be a little high but I suspect this game will see good sale prices eventually.
Great review and good looking game, but the 10 hour completion time does sound a bit disappointing. Will be picking this one up at a good discount then.
Looks quite fantastic. After being in the zelda zone for a but, im probably not going to play anything action adventure soon. But I definitely want to play this sometime.
I went to Japan last month, and I bought it, only because Inliked the cover. It is in Japanese and I don't understand everything, but I am loving it. P.D. it cost the half of the price you gave 😀
This was a great review for me looks fun and I love this art style given my backlog though I will pass. Thanks again your review format really helps me get a feel if I will enjoy a game.
It is a Koei Tecmo game. That is why. They censored Lucy's panties with a black void in the Fairy Tail video game, ignoring how panties are cloth pieces, and gives a bad impression that she has a superpower when she does not.
The Atelier games are brilliant, so I'm happy that this is on the switch. Having said that, I'm unlikely to be getting it because they can be the sort of game that takes a while to play through - very immersive - and I'm still on the first game in the Atelier Ryza series!
Glad they took the care and attention that fans wanted for this title. Not for me and I know I wouldn't play multiple play thrus to get the value from this game. I kind of think the 2D art is a little jarring compared to the heavily stylized 3D characters(which I prefer). At least there was QoL changes to justify the remake. I think the more modern Atelier may be more to my taste. Thx for the review!
Not gonna lie have been tempted to download an Atelier game for the PS Vita but I haven’t even when it’s totally “free” should I give this one a try first? 🤔
I’m glad I preordered this but I’m still salty about the price. I’m an atelier fan so I’m more then happy even if it’s easy because it’s the first time the game is released outside Japan. I just would rather pay 100 and have had them redo the entire trilogy or just translate those games and release them digitally.
This game is fun but it has no freaking right to be priced so high for just a remake of a game developed in the 90s with the most basic mechanics of the whole atelier series. This should be $10-15 max
17 for value is a joke for a game that's easily finished in around 8h or even less. Having a NG+ adds nothing to value nowadays as it's a standard feature in basically every jrpg.
But if the game sells well just maybe the LONGER games like Mana Khemia 1 and 2 may get ported over to the PS4 PS5 Switch or even the 4 Atelier games that were released in Japan after Marie but NEVER left Japan. As in the 3 Atelier Iris games are the 6 to 8th ones in Japan and the first 5 Atelier games of Marie Elie Lilie Judith and Viorate NEVER left Japan ever.
@@veghesther3204 I'd really like that to happen or get a reprint of already released Atelier games on switch (I know few who have problems getting physical editions od Ryza games for an acceptable price). Just imo that score is too high for a game as short as this one. Still I want to get physical but it's not available EU so playasia it will be again.
Lmao I hate it when Japanese games have game time limits…you gotta give kidding….Majoras mask…..dead rising…..give it a rest…..I would play this in unlimited only. It’s not necessarily a good game mechanic
