thank for video, I have a quick question(s), for the humm eliminator, I believe you run the audio input into the eliminator and then into your audio mixer right? do you need multiple eliminators for each input e.g. mic input? Does power filter/conditioner help with this? I have only had humm once on my stream and bought another type of humm eliminator but never got to use it yet so not sure if my filter is the one working or just haven't had a location with bad ground
@zephanmoses
@zephanmoses 8 месяцев назад
The hum eliminator goes between the audio feed and the audio mixer. If each input has a hum then yes you’d need one for each.

That is all that different from my normal setup. I haven't had the budget to replace a few items, so they aren't as fancy as yours. 1. Foldable Wagon, instead of the cart. But does the same thing for me. 2. No backup battery yet, but I want one. 3. 24inch dell monitor with HDMI input to work with my ATEM. I do agree on the size though, any smaller and you can't see everything. Wanting to upgrade to a monitor like yours. 4. Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro (the Extreme ISO is on my wish list). But also a newer Samsung T7 drive. 5. Single Windows laptop instead of two, I do want a second one for similar reasons as you. 6. Monitoring Headphones, where my ATEM Mini Pro doesn't have audio out, I just use them on my mixer and watch the levels on the Multiview. 7. I'm using a Mackie Pro-FX10v3 mixer, but similar to yours. Just mine has 1/4inch and XLR main outs, so I use dual 1/4inch to 3.5mm. 8. I didn't realize they made the ground lifter to remove the hum. Where I have been doing most of my live streaming for a couple of years has this issues, so I will be getting one. 9. External encoder. I have been just using my ATEM to do this as the Mini Pro doesn't seem to heat up like your Extreme, it hasn't been an issue for me. But thanks for sharing, I got a couple of tips from this and I look forward to implementing them.

Thanks for watching. Be careful with the T7. Many report eventual or intermittent issues due to the read/write speed not sustaining over long term recordings.

14:10 interesting to know that you use the UltraStudio rather than the BMD micro converters 🎉😊
@zephanmoses
@zephanmoses 8 месяцев назад
The ultra studio is powered over thunderbolt so it’s one less power adapter needing to be plugged in. It’s also compatible with Mitti, my video playback software.

Thanks for the tutorial. I have a question on hdmi output. Recently I did a hybrid gig and atem mini extreme iso pro output to the venue's projector, the image on the projector was yellowish. However if connected directly to a laptop the image on the projector looked fine. I don't quite understand the issue and would a up down cross converter solve that issue?
@zephanmoses
@zephanmoses 8 месяцев назад
It’s hard to say without knowing anything about the projector. But it could have been anything from the cable to the projector. I’d start by swapping cables to the projector and if that doesn’t work, it could be a color space issue. But it’s hard to say without being able to troubleshoot on the spot and test a few things.

Thank you Mr. Zephan Moses for this tutorial. I noticed that when I'm using Web Presenter (the 1st gen) to an OBS laptop for streaming, the image quality drops significantly. So do you think that by using another encoder like Magewell encoder, does it really have big difference in terms of image quality compared to a Web Presenter?
@zephanmoses
@zephanmoses 3 месяца назад
The original web presenter was 720p.

@@zephanmoses ahh..yes without a doubt. And I also have hyperdeck mini recorder. And I sometimes take the hdmi out from hyperdeck to hdmi in Avermedia game capture which is 1080p and broadcast to obs laptop. I guess that might be the closest solution to a Magewell encoder.

Zephan, I watch all of your videos. I consider you as my go to for real world livestreaming. My question: Why would you not include a Elgato Stream Deck into this setup? A stream deck has become one of my best tools to streamline my livestreaming. Thanks for all your videos. I see some pictures of your gigs on your facebppk channel.

I’ve used them before and I’m just not a fan. I don’t like having to rely on companion working properly and I have yet to see a use for it in my work. When I use my 2ME which is my main switcher, I have the advanced panel so I have tons of macro buttons - the streamdeck wouldn’t make that any easier than it already is. I’m also not a fan of adding one more thing to the chain that can break. All it takes is one companion update and if I rely on a stream deck for running my whole show, it could create a massive headache.

Regarding your graphics and video playback computer, could you just use the hdmi out of the MacBook and convert that to SDI? Or does it make a difference using 14:15 usb-c? Thank you. And great video! Very helpful.
@zephanmoses
@zephanmoses 3 дня назад
@@gambno99 if I use a converter to convert hdmi out, first off I have to have a computer with hdmi output. Many newer MacBooks don’t have that without needing an adapter/dongle. Additionally the converter would need an AC power adapter and it would need an hdmi cable from computer to converter and sdi cable from converter to switcher. The ultra studio monitor only needs a thunderbolt connection from the computer and it supplies both power and graphics over the one cable so you’re saving on how many cables you need and saving on not needing an AC power adapter.

I have a rack case for my 2ME constellation which is now my primary switcher. The Atem SDI Extreme is just my backup most of the time and for smaller projects where I need to record ISOs.

I’m new to encoders, will the magewell receive the program out and for example transmit to facebook/youtube at the same time? Do I need to purchase wirecast or obs to transmit?
@zephanmoses
@zephanmoses 7 месяцев назад
Correct. That’s exactly what an encoder does it encodes the program signal and sends it along to a streaming platform. You could do it with OBS (free) or Wirecast (paid) so long as you have a capture device. The atem acts as a capture device when you connect it to a computer using the usb c cable. So theoretically you don’t need to buy an encoder (and the atem does have a built in encoder) but for better reliability and more functionality I choose a hardware based encoder like the Magewell over a software based solution like OBS or Wirecast. I also choose to have the Magewell take the task of encoding off of the atem for safety and reliability reasons.
@leobardobivianomedia
@leobardobivianomedia 7 месяцев назад
@@zephanmoses so aside from reliability and safety (which I like) will the external encoder improve the quality of my stream or all that depends on the platform’s compression. By the way I use 1 studio black magic 4k, 1 6k pro and 1 r5c. I really want to maximize my quality before I send it to any platform. Thanks for your feedback
@zephanmoses
@zephanmoses 7 месяцев назад
@@leobardobivianomedia the challenge is that quality is subjective. Quality going out is one thing that depends on many pieces of the puzzle including but not limited to the platform you're streaming to, the limitations of that platform (i.e. Facebook for a long time only streamed in 720p), the internet upload speed that you have, the bitrate that you choose, variable vs. constant bitrate... the list goes on. But then on the other end, the quality on the viewer side is also completely dependent on their internet connection and device. So while it's great to want to aim for the best possible quality, there are far too many variables that are out of your control once that signal is sent out and it's important to note that. In my case, the encoder I use allows me more control over the bitrate settings, it allows me to stream to multiple destinations at one time without any additional hardware or software and it allows me to stream in multiple flavors (RTMP, SRT and more). It can also stream over wifi or a hardwired connection and act as a back up recorder. So those are the reasons I chose to go with it along with taking the work off of the ATEM while streaming.

I hope you can help me with this... I have a BMPPC 6K G2 and an Atem Mini Extreme Pro (HDMI), the issue occurs when I connect the camera to the atem, the settings on the camera changes (screen blinks) and cannot longer use the 16:9 ratio it seems blocked as well the ProRes codec, only remains some ratios with the BRAW codecs, but none are 16:9 ratios so always get black stripes on the PGM in the Atem mini. Note: This isn't happen with my BMPPC 4K. All firmwares are updated BTW. The only way that I found so far to fix it, is using an external monitor with I/O HDMI, connecting the camera to the monitor; with that the camera doesn't change codecs and I can use the 16:9 ratio and the monitor to the Atem. BUT, obviously I lost control over the camera like color correction and tally light, and I need those. Other way is converting the HDMI signal thought the BM Bidirectional converter HDMI to SDI and again SDI to HDMI. It works, the 16:9 ratio remains but losing again control over the camera. Surfing the web I found that connecting a second SDI cable to return the "control" and works, BUT in that second the cameras blink and change the codec and I ends right where I start, losing the 16:9. So, do you had any idea of what is going on here? You are my only hope Obi-wan, neither in BlackMagic support are catching my consult and always respond something else.
@zephanmoses
@zephanmoses 5 месяцев назад
I’m sorry I don’t use Blackmagic cameras with my setup but it sounds like the camera control signal going back to the camera over the HDMI cable is changing something in camera in regards to the aspect ratio. I do know that the camera can only be on certain shooting modes when plugged into the ATEM but it shouldn’t be changing to anything outside of a 16:9 ratio. Have you tried different types of HDMI cables and different inputs on the atem? Have you tried resetting the atem and camera to factory settings?

How much sdi cameras can this control if it only has 4 sdi outputs
@zephanmoses
@zephanmoses 7 месяцев назад
I’ve been told that you can send one output feed to a Blackmagic distribution box or a SDI splitter and the information for all cameras travels on one cable. I haven’t tried it myself but you could theoretically send the return feed over one output, split it off to the 8 cameras and it would provide the information needed.
