Oh look another edgy guy, with a true inferiority complex, looking for attention and finally getting some, because he feels as though his voice will resonate through us Americans and fix the issue of Dan Green sounding more mainly than he ever could.
Yes, atems version is the basically the good version, the one marik was using was kinda like a synthetic, evil version of the chant, plus the fact all the times marik used ra it was a shadow game, atems is the non shadow game version, the true, intended chant for ra
Both are cool for different reasons. The English version is cool cause the words can be understood and all the kids tried to replicate it when summoning Ra. The Japanese is cool cause it was a "oh nah, we're dead. This man really speaking in tongues right now" moment.
@@TomKeresey10 yeah because he was already creepy sounding enough to give shivers plus he says it too calmly atem makes it super tense plus he has the type of voice kings would listen too its very commanding and trustworthy sounding
The chant in the Japanese version is much more meaningful. It shows that Atem's memories are finally restored and that he can speak the native language of Khemet (ancient Egypt) again.
@@oguzulasyaman1816 yeah but it makes more sense when yugi recites an ancient Egyptian language than when he recites some dumb poem that anyone could memorize.
Honestly, it felt like he was translating/ deciphering the ancient text. I was watching the Japanese dub until dartz’ duel, then I watched the remaining episodes in English. I don’t know.
Okay, I'm not going to lie, I like the Japanese chant because it sounds more authentic and almost scary like. But goodness with Dan Green voice acting Atem and saying that chant always gives me goosebumps! Is it wrong that I can't decide which one I like better? XD
The Nameless King Atem : Queen's Naito (knight), Jax Naito, King's Naito wo igen ni sasage, Kaiba: Masaka ! , Marik : Sonna ! Yugi : Mou Hitori No Boku, Atem : Sandaime No Kami , Ra No Yoku Shin Ryu Wo shokan suru ! Atem ; Ii deo ! Ra No Yoku Shin Ryu ! Jounichi (Joey) : Ra No ... Yoku shin ryu Kaiba: Santai No kami wo shoukan shita dato ! Atem : Aibo ! Kore ga ore no zenryoku Da ! (Sorry about Marik sister , I didn"t hear well what she said in japanese but you can understand it in english)
For those who don't understand the japanese chant here it is: He'i ha'e rayh sureh, Re'i re'a-re'a re'i areh. Jhitu nu khetti no ahu reh'eh, Su tu'aku re'i rayh kureh. He'i fa eda re'i jhu tu'yu rah!
I heard "words" such as "wani", "beseu", "erinea" and "ikeri". He actually say "ikeri khetti(n) erinea wani". the first phrase is something like "Imi/ini wa(v), imi/ini beseu".
Admittedly, the chant to summon Ra sounded AMAZING in Japanese, but I like his English Dub voice better (not really for the chant, but for every other line he's had)
@@krauser18x And Yugi shouldn't have the voice of an elementary school student in the English sub, since he's 15. I think they gave Yami that voice due to him being a Pharoah, and when people imagine Pharoahs, who are essentially kings, they imagine them having a deep, commanding voice
@@krauser18x yugi was actually 12. He skipped some grades and went straight to high school, thats why he's so short compared to the others. Atem is yugi after he hits puberty so it makes full sense as to why his voice is so much deeper. In GX episode 1 Jaden runs into Yugi and he has the voice of Atem because this is after they graduated high school.
You find out if you're an ancient Pharaoh or watched too much Anime when you know the 2 Chants of Ra '-' 1 - Great Beast of the Sky, Please hear my cry. Transform thyslef, From orb of light And bring my victory In this fight. Envelope the deserts, With your glow. And cast your rage, Upon my foe. Unlock your powers From deep within So that together We may win. Appear in this Shadow Game As I call your name. Winged Dragon of Ra! 2 - (This video's chant) Almigthy protector of the sun and sky I beg of thee please heed my cry. Transform thyself from orb of light And bring me victory in this fight. I beseech thee grace our humble game But first I shall call out thy name. Winged Dragon of Ra! Ya,or I watched waaaaaaaaaay too much Yu-Gi-Oh or i'm a pharaoh. =/ (If I wrote anything wrong let me know, this took me half a hour to remember it all XD)
Regardless of the version, I like that little touch of that closeup on Joey/Jounouchi's shruken irises has when he sees Ra. Those are the eyes of a man who's scared shitless at what he's seeing. Because he know full damn well the sheer terror of Ra, and he's practically counting himself blessed by gods other than those three that he's even fucking alive at all, never mind functioning properly like nothing happened at all, after getting hit full force by Ra's phoenix form. And now it's in Atem's hands along with the other two. He's got every right to shit his intestines out seeing that.
@@brawl8 Not that he would've been able to use it, even if Atem taught him (coz he saw what happened when an unworthy user tries to, in the case of Rishid), but it would've just been a massive victory getting the card away from Marik.
@@reyonXIII Surving ra rage. Is a plus . In the anime anyone saying the chant correctly allows anyone to use it. It’s something marik exploited when Mai summoned ra. The only reason odion was struck was because it was a forgery. Yeah Joey definitely would have been more than worthy.
Not bad idea because the silent swordman was on Yugi's field and just use direct attack... cool. But the magic cards affect on the 3 Legendary Beasts for one turn. May be it was in his deck.
Definitely prefer the Japanese for the vibe - that chant in Ancient Egyptian is wild! If I were Yugi I️ would be both in amazement and almost even afraid. What if that’s what he always really sounded like and I’d never known because I’d never heard him speak his native language? This Duel was all kinds of “holy shit” for Yugi, which made the victory that much more impressive.
Almighty protector of the sun sky, I beg of thee please heed my cry. Transform thyself from orb of light and bring me victory in this fight. I beseech thee grace our humble game but first I shall call out thy name, WINGED DRAGON OF RA.
@@danielnu389 if ra had all of its effects of all versions into one then it would be actually truly the ultimate card Especially Since only one of it would be allowed otherwise the copy is destroyed instantly
English Pharaoh: *Performs amateur poetry to call out the Egyptian god, Ra* Japanese Pharaoh: *Performs satanic prayer to call out the Egyptian god, Ra* Egyptian Pharaoh: *Chills out with the Egyptian god, Ra, because they're both gods and have a terrific bromance going on*
Well, they are named after Judeo-Christian angels, which makes those think that the Hebrews who suffered being slaves heard about the Egyptian God monsters and created horrible reflections of them.
I LOVE the japanese version of this scene. It's so cool that they used the actual Egyptian Hereartic(probably spelled that wrong) script. It sounds great. Not to mention the music is great and fits the mood.
He is supposed to have amnesia in this moment I think. So it would be quite the surprise for Ishizu to hear him do a chant he wasn't suppose to remember
Almighty protector of the sun sky, I beg of thee please heed my cry. Transform thyself from orb of light and bring me victory in this fight. I beseech thee grace our humble game but first I shall call out thy name, WINGED DRAGON OF RA.
Yugi: wait a minute did you just summon a bunch of monsters in one turn? Atem: Yeah so. Yugi: That’s against the rules isn’t it? Atem: Screw the rules, I’m the Pharaoh.
Prefer Japanese music in this one, but Dan Green kills the epicness. If only we could have both. That Japanese music plus Dan Green’s chant would be perfect imo
tc tokoy is way you cant have both tc toyko is domb fucks who wont let the dub comepy use japne msuic dan green said this himslef i dont way they cabnt be mro like toei ant let the dub compey have in opsin to make show fulyl uncut with both dub and sub msuic so we can pick like you coul with the dbz dvds
Watching this on TV was the most epic moment in yugioh history. Seto and Marik could only dream of summoning all three gods. The duel disk could barely contain all three at once.
@@maryafantalia8614 how so? This was supposed to be something that only the Pharoah knows. Meaning it should something we normal people can't decipher. Plus Malik chant and Atem chant are different Malik "Great beast of the sky please hear my cry Atem : Almighty protector of the sun and sky
@@MasterofVirology The difference isn't important. The fact is that the 4Kids message is powerful and intimidating and even it's not an ancient language, that's still a translation of this language and it's powerful. That's all.
the Japanese is better because 2 reasons 1: the music it really does make you hype and it's epic as well it does really fit perfectly 2: the chant fits as well like ra is like Satan and stuff
I sense more of that “ancient Egyptian spirituality” in the Japanese version. Atem doing the chant in his people’s dead language and the lower volume in his voice feels more impactful. True, the English version can be understood by the viewer and it’s pretty powerful but it’s not the same without that calm, low tone.
Great ad of the sky please hear my cry. Transform thyself from orb of light and bring me victory in this fight. Envelop the stream with your glow and cast your ads upon my foe. Unock your ads from deep within so that together we may win! Arise, Ultra Mega Chicken, Arise! Great Ad Marathon of 2017, Twitch
"I call upon God of the Royal Palace To crush thy foe with plagues of malice With fists of fate, and heart of stone, I offer tribute of skin and bone May your power forever reign As I now call out thy name: OBELISK THE TORMENTOR!" "Eternal presence within our sky Shaking heavens where your powers lie Mercy everlasting; as deep as the Nile Strike down the hearts of those most vile Judgement hour for those who came The time is now, and so thy name: SLIFER THE SKY DRAGON!"
using the tricky with tricky spell 4 in real decks is actually an excellent combo to bring out the gods without having to use ultimate offering, or, if you have them in the graveyard you can special summon them with the shallow grave (works best with Obelisk) since they will be summoned facedown the effect that returns them to the grave won't apply and since Obelisk and Osiris (when you have enough cards in your hand) will have a lot of defense you can flip them up next turn and bypass the summoning conditions though it's slow.
I like this chant better in Japanese as for the one Marik used i like that one a lot more than this chant but the Japanese is much better than the dubbed version hands down
Almighty protector of the sun sky, I beg of thee please heed my cry. Transform thyself from orb of light and bring me victory in this fight. I beseech thee grace our humble game but first I shall call out thy name, WINGED DRAGON OF RA.
I know I agree! They messed up big time on One piece but the voice actors are amazing and stand out in their own way in teh dub, making the characters more distinctive. The japanese doesn't have that touch and they don't have that spark to me in this one, and the dub seems more passionate. Just the censoring is where I give thumbs down for the dub lol. I'm surprised people find the Japanese better since theres more raw feeling in the dub surprisingly.
Neither Versions is bad, I don't get what's the point of saying which version is better when they both saying the same chant but in different language. It's still badass no matter how much anyone tries to disrespect it.
Not even a question, the Japanese was so much more epic! He had to chant in a dead language to call it, that’s some terrifying shit. Yūgi has to have balls of steel just to face that, let alone beat it.
For people talking about RA not being In the manga. The author was rushed since he was in poor health but he did say he wanted all 3 of them there. So the anime provided that for him.
Japanese version is better. Nothing against Dan Green. I love him. It's just that Atem is 16 years old and the Japanese version is consistent with that. Also, better music. Not that the english version is bad. Despite the bullshit from 4kids, they were still competent in certain aspects of the original.
Agreed, their _Yu-Gi-Oh!_ franchise dubs tend to be better than their other anime dubs most of the time, by which I mean they're decent instead of being outright mockeries of the original. They still have their flaws, but they're a lot less noticeable than they were with certain other 4Kids projects.
If you combined Atem and Marik chant, you have a bitching chant. Almighty protector of the sun and sky I beg of thee please my cry. Transform thyself from orb of light and grant me victory in this fight. Envelope the desert with thy glow and cast thy rage upon my foes
I disagree. Both actually sound like they're asking a middle eastern god to come to their aid, which they are. I prefer that to mumbling I can't understand.
bro tell me why i hadn't heard this in a while and after listening to it again it gave me chills like damn bro its just your homeboy yugi you dont gotta flex on him
Oh hell no. The music sucks in the English dub. Like I said the Japanese version is for teen. The dubbing is ok but not as good as the Japanese. Original always wins.
+javiermierh the english soundtrack sucks as fuck, it's impossible to compare the Original Soundtrack with english soundtrack, the Original is like 100x better.
anyway, the chant is way better in japanese version. it's may be creepy but it fits atem's origin (ancient egypt, arabic world, prophecy...) so much. it's suppose to be an ancient spell ! but i personally prefer yami marik's version.
Yami had the key to beating yugi the entire time ra in god phoniex alone can beat anything i doubt no one could guess that so there no point in summoning obelisk or slifer ra could have easily beat yugi in god phoniex then yami plays monster reborn and attack yugi directly due to ras special ability so yeah really disapointing
I, like most fans, believe the Japanese dub to be superior to the English dub overall, but this is one of the times where I have to give it to the English dub for really selling just how big a deal and freaking EPIC this moment was meant to be. Not to say the Japanese version dropped the ball here but the English dub just approached this scene better.
No. The epicness is in the original just because of the chant. Atem speaking in one of his native languages is so freaking amazing (hieratic were used mostly in religious ceremonies, literature, etc). Also, the music is great. God bless you all!!! Bye!!!
@@Adryleira yes the English chant is a cheap version since everyone can read and use ra if they could hear those chant words atem use for summoning ra!

Even the soundtrack is better in the Japanese version. The English version isn't BAD per se (though I hate how 4Kids censored the show to hell and back), but when compared to its original counterpart it just doesn't stack up.
Just for your info the english pronounciation of both the pharo's name (atem) and marrick isn't right. Its (Hatem) not (Atem) and (Malek) not (Marrik). The japanese pronounciation was more accurate than the english version. I am egyptian and i can testify to that cuz both are egyptian modern names
in Japanese version, when atem speaking in ancient Egyptian language. i think the yellow aura is like barrier to censor his words. so anyone won't able to hear him this is kinda like Ron was able to open the Chamber by mimicking Parseltongue
