TVMix Atem used Summoning Clock (an OP trap card that allows X number of Normal Summons according to turn number) in response to one of Yugi's cards, so there's nothing "against the rules" about it.

TVMix Explanation of all the bunch of Summons: Yami's Turn: Declares an attack with Obelisk (4000/4000) to Lvl 0 Slient Swordman (1000/1000). Yugi counters playing a Trap Card (Earth Erosion: Decrease the ATK of all the monster in opponent's side of the field by 500 points for each turn passing) and a Magic Card (Skip Phase: Skips three turns in the field without fighting). With this combo, Obelisk ATK points equals Silent Swordman lvl 3 ATK points (2500) (Effect Monster: Silent Swordsman can upgrade his level, gaining 500 ATK/DEF points for each turn passing). Therefore, Yami stops the attack declaration, not wanting to destroy also Obelisk along with Yugi monster. When Yugi activated the Magic Card, a Trap Card in Yami's side was also activated (Summoning Clock). The effect of this trap allows Yami to play a number of monsters equal to the number of turns passed since its activation (3 in this case, due to Yugi's Magic Card). Using that effect. he summons Queen's Knight & King's Knight (Special Effect: If both Queen's & King's Knights are on the field, the player can Special Summon Jack's Knight). Yami Special Summons Jack's Knight via Monster Effect. By the trap effect, Yami is able to summon one more monster (Jack's Knight summon doesn't count because he was summoned due to King & Queen Monster Effect). Yami summons Slifer The Sky Dragon; he holds 3 cards in his hand, so Slifer ATK/DEF is 3000/3000. Slifer attacks Silent Swordman and Yugi uses a trap to increase Silent Swordman lvl 3 ATK points to 4000, forcing Yami to cancel the attack order if he wants to mantain Slifer on the field. Yami uses Knights to wipe out Yugi's other two Defense Position monsters. To end his turn, Yami Normal Summons Ra (as seen in the video).

I thought you couldn't special summon the god cards for more than one turn? So if that's the case Slifer should have been gone after this turn and Yugi's later strategy would not have worked.

I honestly think that the last tribute summon that I saw was in Zexal...no wait. Early Arc V...no...early Vrains. Most people in the real life and the show just swarm with low level monsters before going for an extra deck summon. Tribute summoning is basically dead, even in Duel Links as most of the high level monsters you'd use have a means of being easily special summoned.

@@lb_9395 Honestly I am the opposite. I nearly quit because I was tired of how slow the game was. 5ds brought synchro summoning and swarm decks. Duels became faster paced and a bit more exciting. Tribute summoning is just too slow even if you swarm the tributes.

This is an old comment but hopefully your alive and will read this lol. I think we can also chalk those decisions up to risk reward as well. Slifer doesent really have any risk to using him but of the three he also doesent have huge win conditions like the other two. Obelisk has his sacrifice two monsters to destroy your opponents monsters but sacrificing the other gods is quite a risky thing to do especially when if it backfires the only thing you have left is a weakened Obelisk that by this point can be taken care of easily. He doesent use it earlier before summoning the other two for the same reason. The net loss of doing such a thing could be catastrophic for him. He doesent use Ra’s abilities because all of them drain his own LP, draining your LP to 1 is risky for everyone and just doesent need to be done. There’s no reason to take the hit when Ra is plenty powerful as it is and sacrificing 1k LP at this stage in the duel is also just an unnecessary risk. Just like in real Yugioh in the anime patience is key. When you try to rush a victory that’s when things go wrong. Atem already has all three gods on the field, there’s just no reason to rush things. In hindsight he could have, but for all Atem knew Yugi had something to get over their abilities.

Then Yugi would screw the rules and play a trap card that protects his life points and monster, or maybe ends the turn and so the other two cards end up in the graveyard with nothing to show for it and then Yugi plays Monster Reborn and summons Slifer to the field and plays another card that gives him a bunch of cards and gains more attack power than Obelisk and destorys the monster, then the Pharoh would say "Well done Yugi, you learned how to cheat like a expert but I have one last card of my own to play!" Plays a card that steals his foe monster and uses Slifer against Yugi and with no protection, Yugi looses!

Here goes that plot: Obelisks (legal version): Card effects cannot be activated on his normal summon and traps do not effect him. So Obelisk can literally attack first and just murder everything lol
