I took a multivitamin supplement that caused me diarhea for a few weeks. I was hit with a massive headache and inability to urinate. I am now stuck with EVERY electrolyte imbalance symptom and it's totally chronic. I went to the doctor and he told me I'm crazy.

That sounds like you were really dehydrated from the diarrhea . Make sure you drink enough water!
@AllThingsConsidered333

@@annt7384drinking water isn’t the answer. You could drink tons of water but if you are too low in minerals especially potassium you just pee it out it doesn’t get into the cells or tissues. I’ve learned this the hard way as I became severely potassium deficient partly bcs I was eating so many “healthy” veggies that are full of toxins such as oxalates that damaged my organs. I am prescribed 2250mg potassium daily plus I more in supplements & electrolyte drinks as needed. Low potassium is so dangerous. I did several years of weekly iv fluids with electrolytes bcs my body just won’t hold on to fluids and I don’t drink juices or sodas.. I’ve always been a water-drinker. My new dr had me stop just recently to see if my body can handle it bcs weekly infusions are damaging to the blood vessels and my veins are quite scarred by this point.

The 4700mg is the figure recommended by the USA medical fraternity. In the U.K. it’s 3500mg… it varies from country to country. As you can see there is a big difference between what is recommended but probably less of a difference in terms of what “we need”… but who has the right figure? Lol

We need 4700 mg of potassium daily.

Such confidence in total ignorance. Lol “We need…”… nope. You are confusing what “we need” with what is recommended and what is recommended varies from institution to institution and country to country. The USA recommends that dosage, in the U.K. it’s 3500mg and this chap’s country may have another recommendation. Wind your neck back in until you are more informed.

@@comicbossone2411 Your comment contributes nothing but more confusion! Is the need more that the recommendation or is the recommendation more than the need?! How would you define "need" ??

My husband worked outside in the heat and took too much . Almost wound up in the hospital. I was on a supposed potassium sparing fluid pill and wound up in ER several times with low potassium. Im off of it now. My dr recently showed my potassium is fine. But it looked to be on the lower side of ok. I have many symptoms of low potassium. I have started taking a small dose of 99 mg on my own.

my Doctor told me to stop taking potassium supplements. I told her that i don't get anywhere near enough through food because of the way i eat. she say i don't need more that a hundred or so mg of potassium a day. I tried that for a week and I felt like i was dying.

If your pottassium is high go on a diet for stage 4 kidney failure to reduce levels and test frequently.
@JH-nb4nn

This is usually from high insulin, or kidney failure. It's not normal to have high potassium from food or even supplements. Insulin works with potassium to get it into the cell. If it's not going into the cell, it's going to be high in the blood.

Please be careful from potassium as it could cause kidney damage or even failure so please please check with your physician or doctor before step in to take potassium after that follow up by blood tests with very close follow up with your doctor too.

Potassium doesn’t cause kidney damage. The high oxalate plants that they tell you to eat to get that potassium is what is so damaging. Spinach, beets, beet greens, carrots, carrot greens, kale, sweet potato, nuts & seeds esp almonds, cashews & peanuts are some of the foods highest in oxalates. Listen to Sally Norton talk about oxalates and some of the studies and case reports. She wrote a book Toxic Superfoods. Plants are toxic. Many Drs know this - Dr Ken Berry, Dr Anthony Chaffee, Dr Paul Mason, and functional medicine nutritional therapist Elliot Overton go into detail about the natural toxins in plants that are produced by the plants themselves - plants don’t want to be eaten either but since they can’t fight back or run away they engage in chemical warfare. Many of these plant toxins are known to cause cancer and they are known to damage the muscles, nerves & organs including the brains of the people who consume them. Plus they interfere with our ability to absorb nutrients so can make us nutrient deficient when we think we are being healthy. We have been misled and misinformed.
