Thank you so much! This was so helpful. We would have been really underwhelmed without this video

Themistocles was a brilliant mind! Without him the Greeks would never win the Salamis battle against the Persian. But he had a "fault". He became very famous for this! Unfortunately this was his misfortune cause some though he could get more power than should. They voted him out . Ancient greek democracy had its rules. And nobody was above the rules. He finished working for the Persian king who hired him and gave him a piece of bread to eat. Life is strange. Sometimes. Thank you for this great video!

I think Thissio is probably a closer metro stop than Monastiraki.

23:44 - No, the Assembly did not choose the Council, and the Council did not choose the ministers. Both were chosen by lot.

"laws were passed" - Not, not in the Agora. The Council could prepare legislation here, but nothing became law until voted on by the Assembly, which met up on the Pnyx, not here.

30:40 - Plato and Aristotle taught in the Academy and the Lyceum, respectively (both on the then-outskirts of Athens), not in the Agora.

24:28 - The steps up to the Hephaistion are many and slippery, and there's no handrail. There's an alternative way to reach the Hephaistion, with NO STEPS. Approach it from the left instead of from the front, and there is a gently sloping path.

30:50 - No, most of the major plays would have been performed in the theatre on the other side of the Acropolis, not in the Agora.

Sadly, this video leaves out the Athenian state prison (in the southwest corner of the Agora) -- the *actual* site of Socrates' last days and execution, not the cave on Philopappou hill named "Prison of Socrates," which is no such thing.
