Yeah this is primarily about levelling up in the 800m i.e. trying to do the equivalent of what Syd has done to the 400mH! There's bound to be some overlap in their workouts, will be interesting to see Kersee coach a middle distance runner to potentially a WR and then maybe focus on the 400m afterwards! Also, Olympic/WC silver medallist Mareildy Paulino (48.99, 49.20, 49.38 & 49.49) will want a word with Kevin about Athing (49.57) being #2 in the 400m!

Both are so awesome. Can't imagine either of them ever losing. But watch out for the Kenyan Mary Moraa and of course Keely Hodgkinson. Sydney is like from another planet. So unreal the two of them.

"Iron sharpens iron" as Sydney has said.

I think that Mu had a strange transitional year this year. She seemed like she was scared of losing, and she didn't lose, but she didn't seem like someone who could contend for the world record, and she didn't seem as confident as she did when she probably didn't know what she was dealing with. I always thought that Kersee was insane, although incredibly successful. This probably means that Athing really wants to go for some historic times.

Important to note that she contracted covid during the season which affected her performances as she wasn't as razor sharp as last year, but should be back to that '21 form next year!

She had an advantage of "leadership" at the Texas of A&M. Remove that leadership and things will be different.

Mu had legitimate scares in the 800m all year pre and post COVID...I think this is the best move 4 her.

Athing is going to be 26 when the Olympics come to LA in '24 (Sydney will be 28).... so many opportunities for both of them (and their spouses) in SoCal and what a story if training partners multi-medal and finish the Olympics together with 4x400 gold.

What kinda math are you doing? Athing is only 20, how will she be 26 in 2 years?

Will be very interesting if they both run the open 400 at USAs since they both have a bye for their events

That was Dalilah's plan for this year's USAs until she got injured, so yeah will be interesting!

Bobby had Sydney running the 60meters indoors and the 100mH outdoors so don’t put anything past Bobby’s training methods or his tactics for his athletes event schedule. I’ve watched his methods with many athletes since the 80’s. Bobby’s methods really develop athletes to be sharp and race ready in most cases.

I think this is a great move for Athing and has to be the thing that will motivate Sydney as well. Think about it, Sydney moves to the 400m with an Olympic and world championship on the horizon…she will have a training partner like Athing to push her to the level required to even threaten the world record in the 400m. For Athing she must drop her 400m time, if she is going to threaten the 800m record…it actually makes perfect sense. In my mind only the legendary Bobby Kearsee can achieve this kind of performance for either of them, let alone both. If you think another coach could name them, I’ll wait…😂

Methinks Nike forced Athing to change coaches

This is good. Athing’s weakness is her turnover. Kearse is going to change that dramatically, while keeping her stride length.

MU, Sydney and Prandinne...all with Kearse (Eyebrows raised)...step up in coaches indeed...I really expected Abby to move to Kearse not Pran.

AThing won't think about moving up or down in distance until she takes the 800 world record and probably puts it out of reach. Then it will be what is the next thing to motivate her (other than it is her job and getting paid $$$). If Sydney obliterates the 400 then I don't see her moving down. So Moving up is the next logical step.

800m WR is already out of reach. Athing wont get this WR.
@RayLabs
@RayLabs Год назад
@@mathieudube6907 It may take 2 years of work on her speed, but I think of all the 800 runners she has the best chance. Remember it took Sydney about 2 years of working with Kersee until she was in a position to put away the 400H Record. I think it will be similar for Athing.
@mathieudube6907
@mathieudube6907 Год назад
@@RayLabs 400h WR and 800m WR are not at the same standard. Hurdles records have always been soft because up until now hurdles were a novelty event that did not attract the very best runners in the world. The 800m WR is the hardest WR in all of athletics. It was achieved by means that are no longer available today. Caster didnt get near it and she was a stronger runner than Athing. Athing is young but her running technique will be a limitting factor for her.
@AllInTheGame01
@AllInTheGame01 Год назад
@@mathieudube6907 Yes the 1.53.28 800m WR by Jarmila K is insanely tainted especially as Jelimo, Semenya & Quirot all ran faster than her 2nd quickest time of 1.54.68. There's such a discrepancy between her 2 fastest times! Athing (49.57/1.22.74) at 19 already ran comparable 400/600m PBs to Caster (49.62/1.21.77) who didn't run those times till 26/27. I think she's at least capable of being just the 3rd woman ever (1st clean one for sure) to run sub 1.54 just ahead of Jelimo's 'unofficial 1.54.01 WR'!
@mathieudube6907
@mathieudube6907 Год назад
@@AllInTheGame01 I hope your right. World athletics would love nothing more than to see this record reclaimed cleanly. When I watch Athing run and specifically her running mechanics, I dont see the WR. I hope Im wrong though.
