I have a sprained ankle, it’s the third time I sprained the same right ankle, my neighbor grew playing football in TX and recommended that I tape my ankle in this manner. The process looks cumbersome but I’m sure once I get the handle, it would be easier. Awesome video!

My sports med teacher isn't exactly the best and honestly makes tons of mistakes that lead to harm rather than good, so these videos really help with being able to learn outside of her

I have a question, when I was in college we had first aid class, during this class the teacher told us to always tape and bind towards the heart. And if we didn't he'd make us start all over again because it was really important to do it that way to make sure there isn't any swelling and or loss of blood circulation. But whenever I see athletes taping and these types of videos I always see people taping away from the heart and I wonder if there is a special reason for that.

once the athlete starts running around the tape will stretch and the adhesive will loosen (sweat + heat)

It is tight in order to keep the athletes ankle stable. As the athlete starts moving around and running the tape will loosen up a bit. If it gets too tight in places like the top of the tape or on the sides near the toe, I’ve learned that cutting a small slip will relieve some of the pressure.

what can be done if the tape gets wet? I am supposed to have the tape on for 10 days but accidentally getting it wet in shower but it dries up. i just want to know if its still safe to wear the tape or should it be removed entirely? I will not know how to wrap it back after removing it though so ive left it as it is after getting wet.

You can add support with literally half the tape she used. Do 1 top anchor 1 heel lock 2 ankle support or “6’s” around the heel and ankle 2 ankle supports close the top by one top anchor. Done. Don’t pull on the down strokes. Only pull tape tension on the up stroke for support.

how many days or hour can apply this athelete tapping?or hv to change this day by day or not?

taping looses effectiveness with activity, so if you play a soccer match, basketball game or football game you wanna take off the tape and retape it. same goes for any other activity including walking and general day to day. you don't want to just tape up an ankle and leave it that way, if there's an injury serious enough that a few days rest wont heal it, go to a doctor

Depends. If you use it to support your ankle during activity; remove it after the activity. If you use it because ex. a nurse told you, leave it on your ankle for around 1-2 days. Also, shave your legs. May be a late response haha i'm sorry

Davide Orrù 1 1/2” is most common. Anything smaller would be for something like fingers. You can do 2”, but I don’t personally care for it.

What changes do you make for an eversion sprain?

You would pull the stirrups evenly straight up from the heel instead of pulling medial to lateral. It isn't recommended to ever pull lateral to medial due to the tendency for inversion sprains. However, eversion sprains are a little rarer as the force required to damage the deltoid ligament often will simply break the ankle.

i was thinking the same, when is too much tape too much tape, the idea is that tape will not replace a ligament attached to bone and when to make the decision, this guy needs an immobilizing boot rather tahn a whole roll of tape

It won't. Just a tip: shave your leg. Thats usually step 1, at least they thaught me that at my uni. But if you dont shave it will actually feel like a constant burning. If i said something wrong or made a typo, i'm sorry, i'm Dutch🤣

you don't need figure 8s if the athlete does not need to have limited plantar or dorsi flexion. You have just the athlete slower and limited jumping ability.
