The BEST exotic for Gunslingers just got dethroned with the massive nerf to Young Ahamkara's Spine, meanwhile this underdog is the perfect replacement, and it just got buffed last season! Not only is it insanely good, but it's also incredibly fun and can be used at every level of play. There has not been much attention on Athrys's Embrace recently, so in this video I break down some of the best ways to maximize your success with this exotic, and fully unleash everything it can do. Weapon choices, aspects, fragments, grenades, and technique... I go over everything you need to take this exotic to the next level!

just one correction, the weighted knife does *note* apply any stacks of scorch on its own. it has a feature that if it hits anyone already affected by scortch to ignite, even if its only one scortch stack.

@THEaubooster no problem! I got confused by that as well. But a suggestion on a slight change to the build to allow for the scortch and firesprite creation is to use fire bolt nades since they have the shortest cool down, apply scortch and are guaranteed hits as long as enemies are in line of sight and in the radius. Then you hit someone with a knife and boom

absolutely! that’s a great combo, and I’ve found it works especially well in 6s or other higher volume game modes. The ignitions always get the people that hug corners together, lmao! I enjoy some of the use cases of the healing nade and its synergies for more competitive modes where I value the added survivability over additional lethality, that way I’m fairly balanced in both regards. But, I intend for all my builds to serve as fully curated templates to be tweaked, tuned, and added onto based on what the user is feeling atm. I definitely implore folks to give both a try!

The only thing I would add is a shot of all the build choices at once for people who are trying to watch and create the build simultaneously. Been maining Athrys for years, I can't ever understand why it's so underrated. Great vid! I didn't realize trinity procced strengthened knife with a crit.

ikr, people sleep on it so hard?! and I see what you’re saying about showing the build components at once. do you mean something along the lines of what I did on screen at 18:35? also, yes the trinity thing is a nice little secret, and it’s kind of a power move in trials. catches people off guard a lot and adds a ton of pressure between the bow itself, the lighting rod effect from trinity, and the athrys knife. glad you appreciate the work though! getting to hear your support and feedback makes it a blast B)

@@justinwilliams1699 nah bro so many people have made videos on this exotic over the last couples years and it’s still not meta 💀. a lot of hunters are already in their respective cults lmao. but plenty of bigger names like fallout, coolguy, drew and gernader jake have made videos about this exotic. i just try to make mine a little more in depth and give a showcase of my complete loadout/my own thoughts on synergy and techniques.

Just a beginner with this build, but man it is feels good to get those knife kills behind corners:) Vigilance is even better than before. On some big maps (Multiplex) I had trouble to find good spots. Also I did increase my strenght to 70, just bc I wanted to get the knife back faster when without the buff. Anywayz, this build has the same vibes as with Tripmines, one has to think a bit about the angels to show them the angels, heheh

I've found Outbreak Perfected to have the best synergy with this exotic. The gunplay relies on precision hits. When I proc the exotic perk for OP the audio and visual cues pair up with the exotic perk for AE perfectly. It's also a great gun in general.

Been maining these since they came out along with a handy/sniper or a shotgun/bow. It's the most satisfying setup. All precision. Pair them with gunpowder gamble and show the other guardians how much you enjoy devil may cry 5

No one ever mentions it but the MIDA combo works fantastically with this exotic. You can run 80 mobility and 50 strength and load the rest of your stats to something else. You can easily make a quad 100 build even if you do see the stats.

i could definitely see how that combo would be a good pair with athrys, but, admittedly, i rarely find myself opting into double primary loadouts. i would often much rather just use any other lightweight frame, and still get the same stat viability as the mida combo without having to sacrifice my special weapon options. the mida combo is definitely still slept on, though 💯

This exotic is one of those ones that's not being nerfed due to St0mp-EE5 prevalence. If it was a Titan or Warlock exotic, the community would be up in arms about how broken it is. Still, awesome synergy between the 5-shot Vig wing and the gloves.

with that being said, isn’t it crazy how little this exotic is used relative to other competitive options or high pick rates? like I agree that things would probably look different if it were a different class, but why is it that several videos have came out over these years from the likes of fallout, Gjake, coolguy, and drew, yet it’s constantly slept on by hunters? quite the phenomenon if you ask me. thanks for showing your support and letting me know you enjoyed it!

@@THEaubooster movement outclasses most gimmicks. That's why Dunes and Transverse Steps will still be in the top 3 of their respective classes until some kind of nerf, not unlike St0mp-EE5 and the AE penalties while your dodge is charging. Regardless, totally underutilized by most Hunters. I lose my mind in 6s while my team keeps peaking a half-decent player wearing Athry's.

dang you’re going straight for those hard synergies! those combos are especially good in high volume game modes where you can just charge up those different perks and slay out. Great suggestion! I agree, Monte Carlo is a great feeling weapon and can do so much for as hunters with such cool melees, but what’s your favorite swashbuckler weapon to play with?

I've been using a similar build I prefer using a 340 as I'm more comfortable with the in and out play style it provides and if for some reason they make it out of the engagement the knife cleans its up 9/10 times

Funny idea: use a biting winds precision frame bow with swashbuckler and moving target to one shot enemys after getting a melee kill and trinity on your second slot to instantly get the auto aim throwing knife... Two ways to one shot enemys sounds funny

Why run tier 10 strength now that the buff gives you a +50 to strength. Wouldn't it be better to min max and cap yourself at 50Str and let the buff take over?

just make sure it’s charged up before you throw out the knife or try to get a bank shot, that way you know for certain if it hits anybody it’s an immediate kill-even on the body!

The buff doesn't gain increased tracking, it has increased speed and damage. The tracking is the same between strengthened and not.

lmaoo yeah it can be pretty goofy at times, but i’ve felt the same way towards titans plenty in the past. i was cool with a good majority of the hunter nerfs that took place over the years, including stompeez, but the dodge nerfs always rubbed me the wrong way because of how such a “small” tweak completely shifted the way things interacted with many builds/exotics (most notably dragon’s shadow).

@@THEaubooster Yeah but I am a titan main at heart and they bend titans tf over we can’t have shit in this game the shoulder charge movement was a good change but titan builds are so limited and they nerf them right away we have arc and void that are playable really I play all 3 but hunter least and warlock I have phases where I play just that like rn titan feels booty so I’m on warlock main mode hopefully we get more subclass updates other than the new supers next expansion.

@@DemonTime08 yeah i agree, it’s mainly the restriction of freedom to build for me. sometimes changes are for the better and I can definitely recognize that, but when it’s something that kills unique but still underused and awesome playstyle opportunities, I usually can’t get behind it. indirectly nerfing like half the build opportunities in something that isn’t overpowered nor popular is just a shame to me cause it’s just a cool, balanced option taken off the table. and i think that goes for all classes

Another fun fact: Adaptive 390 pulses get a TTK shift while radiant from .93 to .6 seconds- 3 burst down to 2 burst. It’s only 6 shots for the Skittering activation, but if you have a Jorum’s Claw lying around you can have a lot of fun there. Finally, trace rifles have stupid good synergy with this exotic… I think Coolguy touched on it in one of his videos. Thanks for highlighting a great exotic- you have another sub!
