ATIC ATAC - GRIDIRON | Two new Commodore 16 games... on tape!

Today I look at two new games I have acquired for the Commodore 16, on actual cassette! These are a couple of wonderful releases, ATIC ATAC and GRIDIRON by a talented developer who goes by Stinaris.

Thanks for the review and for supporting retro development. Hopefully I'll get the maps published soon to help you out on Atic Atac. It is a difficult game.

Still have my C16 and recapped it recently. Love how active the community is again, including replacements of those failing chips. I remember being hooked on "Enigma", which isn't even that good I think. :)

They look like nice products. Cool to see new developments for these systems. Do you actually load the games from tape? Or do you have some way of loading the files onto the machines?

You can load them from the tapes if you wish but digital versions are available if you are using a modern solution on real hardware or emulating etc.

I would grab a C16 if they were less pricey and also less prone to failure of hard to source chips!

Gridiron will be available for the unexpanded VIC very soon.

@@fsddevelopment4513 I confess.. I detest the Vic and have done since its release.. such chunky graphics... 3.5K ram or whatever it was... I pretend it never was released :-)

I have 2 (1 working lol) but I'm using a MiSTer these days. You could always give the games a go via emulation too.

@@methanoid The chunky graphics are more appealing to me as I get older. Alternatively I buy a bigger screen :-)

@@methanoid The VIC is a surprisingly versatile little machine. 5K is a bit of a pain (you only have access to just 4K (ish). However you can actually alter the screen dimensions. For my next game the screen is 28x18. (This keeps the memory footprint the same as 22x23) and is a racing game based on the driving section of a C16 game in development.
