Penix is a 2nd or 3rd round talent as is Bo Nix. Only time will tell what happens but we know from history probably half these QBs will end up being busts

Statically speaking the odds that Penix is a failure is high. On top of we just spent 180 million on a proven winner. Not only that but Cousins is coming off a serious injury and Penix is injury prone.

I don't think it's the fact anyone "hates" him, it's the fact that they used a #1 pick to draft a QB, after signing Kirk to a 4 year, 100mil contract, the first pick could have been used for positions of need first. As a Bears fan of over 40 years, I wish that they'd never drafted Mitch but glad they didn't draft Watson. He's not really moved the needle in Cleveland and was out played by Flacco last year. Within the next 2-3 years Cleveland will be desperately seeking his replacement after their Superbowl window has closed. At least in the MT case he didn't bring the off the field drama that Watson did before being traded. Watson will end his career in a similar way as MT will- as a journeyman backup who had a couple of good years (MT had one decent season) but flamed out and never really came close to sniffing a Lombardi trophy.

Kirk is a known quantity that can't get it done in the playoffs. Penis Jr. is a young explosive player that can help put massive points on the board and lead to a playoff run.

i love the pick. primarily bc kirk is no guarantee to be fully healthy and 6 QBs went by pick 12 so he wasn’t gonna be available in the second like everyone thought. be happy that he’s the best passer of the draft and can learn from one of the best passers in the league rn.

If Cousins is getting old and might not stay injury-free then why sign him for that much AND use a top 10 pick as back-up??? I like Penix. He's got the look and the style for Atlanta. He's a bit older for a rookie but can scramble and left handed. Has a little Steve Young to him
I think in a couple years thus will look like a good pick. He's the most accurate passer in the draft. One of the most accurate college QBs Ive ever seen, and he has a string arm, and runs better than scouts thought before the combine.
