Honestly, it's crazy how memorable all the side characters are in this movie. You got Vinnie right here, the deadpan demoman, Audrey, a tough but sweet mechanic Dr. Sweet, the definition of a gentle giant. Mole, an eccentric digger who's maybe a little too obsessed with dirt, Cookie, the old timer southerner Helga, a badass Lara Croft-esque mercenary and Miss Packard, who next to Vinnie has some of the best lines in the movie, who just doesn't give a shit about any of the crazy shit going on.
This character will always have a special place in my heart. When I first watched this movie, I immediately saw my dad in him. The way he speaks, dry humor, mannerisms. When my dad migrated to the US, he even worked at a flower shop so always thought that was funny.
Tuna are pretty damn sporty. Huge! But fast, powerful swimmers. Blue Fin Tuna can reach lengths up to 15 feet and weigh 1500 lbs. Yellow Fins can swim almost 50 mph.
Apparently all of Vinny's lines were improvised, the voice actor read each of his lines in the script once and then made up his own dialog when recording. xD
He read the lines in the studio as written, and the directors didnt think it was right for his character and the actor doing Vinny was a known improv comedian, so they let him improvise all his lines
It just dawned on me that in the last scene, everyone has a piece of the Atlantian Crystal as an accessory- Vinny’s earring, Mole’s tie, Audrey’s necklace, etc.
You know what? I'm gonna re-watch Atlantis, and i'm gonna think of Vinny every single day. Monday to Friday, 9 to 5... Saturday till 2. Gonna take Sunday off probably. Maybe think for a couple of hours.
We've done a lot of things were not proud of. Robbing graves, plundering tombs, double parking. But at least no one got hurt.......well maybe somebody got hurt but no one we knew.
I love how a character who’s obsessed with explosives is both so chill and calm and yet so professional Usually this types of characters in media are so unhinged, crazy, laughing at everything and are like “I don’t know what this one does all I know is that it makes big boom”
I mean if you think about it, it makes sense. Explosives need to be handled with care or they'll take you with them when they go off. In the immortal words of Tavish DeGroot: "...If I were a bad Demoman, I wouldn't be sitting here, discussin' it with ya..." That's why good explosive expert characters, even if they like blowing stuff up, are calm, collected and professional even under pressure.
@@benceklock4831 Reminds me of that thing about being a professional bomb defusser that goes something like this: "You defuse bombs for a living? Whoa! That's way more stressful than my job!" "Not really. I'm either right, or suddenly it's not my problem any more.”
I love all of Vinny's character. How he is slick yet funny and in the end still very caring. When he moved Milo out of the way before he 'made the bridge' and right when Milo was about to go after Rourke, Vinny pushed him back, saving him... which just makes everyone love Vinny way more.
Atlantis has one of the strongest and most developed casts of characters in a film in the Disney canon, with each of them being very distinct and different from each other. Vinny in particular is both very funny and very entertaining to listen to and watch.
2:19-2:32 "We've done a lot of things we're not proud of: 1. Robbing Graves 2. Plundering Tombs 3. Double-Parking But, nobody got hurt...well maybe somebody got hurt but. Nobody we KNEW." One of the best speeches from a character I've heard in a movie, it's comedic yet also serious at the same time. HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE!? 😆
@_Someone_ simple get a shovel dig up a grave and grabe either the corpse or the valuables in the grave its how some people made money in the 1700 and 1800s
I am partial to "Oh gunpowder, nitroglycerin, notebooks, fuses, wicks, glue, and paper clips big ones, you know office supplies" that for me inspires Two questions 1 What kind of office do you work in? 2 Are they hiring interns?
Here I am, finding this 6 years after the fact. I gotta say tho, my favorite thing about Vinny is that he was allowed to be something a lot of characters aren't these days: an actual character. He has interests that aren't directly related to the plot/protagonist, he occasionally makes fun of/makes things more difficult for the protag, and was a source of comedic relief without being dumb.
The whole cast was given this treatment and even if that's just a minute or two it don't brake flow of a film. Vinry as well as Dr Sweet are dripping with characters of thier own. Milo check up scene, Vinry blowing up column and setting clock bomb in a volcano. They didn't need to go so hard with these scenes. BUT THEY DID, and it's gold 🤣
3:02 "Zhe volcano...! SHE AWAKES!!" "Hey, I had nothing to do wit it..." *puts out lit dynamite* Vinny, why do I get the distinct feeling that you might have?
Look at this Disney movie, it must have taken hundreds, no thousands of days to complete. BOOM Hey I made a meme, only took me like what, ten seconds. Eleven tops.
Love that his whole career started by seeing an explosion from some random gas leak while he was having a lousy day at work, and IMMEDIATELY made explosives his calling.
@@AnakinSkywakka Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage made that movie. And even then, some of the explosions were downright stupid. But The Rock is still incredibly tame compared to a Bay's later movies.
I love how Rourke rolls his eyes and holds them high several times in the film. he did it when Milo was monologuing and when vinny was counting his "cherry bombs"
I could unroadblock that if I had about 200 of these. Problem is I only got about...10...plus, uh, 5 of my own, and couple of cherry bombs...ROAD FLARE!
Every aspect of this film breaths soul, character. I absolutely love all the love everyone involved put into this. All an all, this film was a great send-off of for Disney's animation
*Rourke* : "Looks like we have a little roadblock. Vinny, what do you think?" *Vinny* : "I could un-roadblock that if I had about 200 of these. Problem is, I only got about...10. Plus 5 of my own, and a couple of cherry bombs... road flare. Hey, too bad we don't have us some nitroglycerin, ey Milo?" *Rourke* : *annoyed look* This part still to this day make me laugh so hard 😂😂😂
Milo: "It must of taken thousands of years to carve this thing" Vinny: *puts the last stack of dynamite and blows it up* "look i made a bridge and it took what...abiut 10 seconds 11 perhaps"
Ok I’ve been seeing comments saying the voice actor improvised his lines doing this... Holy **** that mans a genius! So you’re telling me he came up with the flower shop parts on his own? Damn
I think that this is undoubtedly one of the best Disney movies. Mole and Vinny are life. A lot of people don't know about it, though :( Spread the good word
I love that he didn't even realize the Dynamite was lit while he's making his point. That means he has a problem where he'll just indiscriminally light some of his Dynamite without realizing it. It's like turrets, but you might accidentally blow yourself up.
The whole movie is seriously underrated, its not the deepest or most compelling but the characters are all fun to watch and the actions fun, overall its just a fun ride, and sometimes that's all you need
I watched this movie once with my little bro back in the early 2000s and we never forgot the "look, I made a bridge" line. I used to say it along with the accent all the time for years and I expected it all these years later as soon as I saw this video's title. Gotta get this on BD and watch it again.
@@patrik9328 Oh, now that's fair... even Vinny would be ok with that... I could actually see him saying 'That's fair'... but I got to ask... which is your favourite Genie voice actor... because I'm assuming Robin Williams... nothing against Dan Castellaneta (TV series and Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2), Jim Meskimen (Kingdom Hearts re:coded) or Will Smith (only good thing in that whole movie) because their all great Genie voice actor but Robin is the best if you ask me.
Single handily the best character from this movie simply because how he works. His line delivery is always the smoothest and the way he talks seems very fluent and real. Not only that but his improvisation is beyond hilarious.
I think Vinny serves as the film's anti hero. Yes Vinny allied with Milo after Rourke punched him, but it can be implied deep down he has no problems being ruthless. Vinny admitted that while someone did get hurt namely Kida's dad he didn't seem to mind it was a stranger and not one of their own crew members, implying he has no problem with people getting hurt provided it is not a friend or relative. And he even barricades Milo from getting to Rourke with his gun after Milo begs Rourke not to go ahead with his evil plan on stealing the crystal. He even blew up the entrance to the King's throne room without hesitation. And it was implied Vinny was an ex criminal as he spent time behind bars too.
I love this Vinny Smile he’s so adorable, smart, cute, brave, little sweet and shy and he’s loves me! One day I’ll gonna meet Vinny Santorini new look at Disney parks on Halloween
