When I'm diving into the thruster tunnel to get to the fuel shutoff I grapple the back inside and reel myself in. It's faster than accelerating using your suit.

You can hold z or x to hold out one of your hands and safely decelerate, too!

Thanks for the Quasar tutorial. I was stuck not knowing how to disassemble it properly. I found a trick and it's efficient with some fully cleanup upgraded demo charges. (Until now...) On the front end of the thrusters, you can find 2 big red rectangles painted on the plates. They are aligned with the 2 cut points of the front cap. I placed a demo charge aligned on the front side of each rectangles. They destroyed both of the cut points without damaging anything else (that was lvl 5 cuts in my case).

3:11 With some practice you can use splitsaw to sever them for faster extraction, also when you tether the Quasar thruster to the Bay wall before you cut, then they get autopulled as soon as its free, saving more time.

Hey! I'm really new to the game (It just came to Gamepass on 9/20) so I'm sorry if you cover this somewhere else or if I missed it in this video. But you can avoid fire altogether when cutting those thrusters from their nacelles. If you take one of those coolant canisters you reveal from removing the panels covering the cut points and smack it against the side of something, you can spray/freeze the cut points of the fuel pipes and they won't catch fire when you cut them. Then you can safely float through to the fuel shut off. Give it a shot. EDIT: Sorry, I see plenty of people are already suggesting this.

Thank you for this video. I thought the solution to the Quasar Thruster problem was to use the small cryo canisters that spawn near the thruster nozzle cut points to prevent fires, but they spawn randomly (none to 3 or even 4 at an access panel). I didn't realize that the way to do it was speeding through it before the fire hazard overwhelmed it.

Dude, thank you so much. I didnt understand when Weaver (or whoever) explained about these things, and I'm trying to do a no-death run so I was afraid I was gonna explode when I cut into the pipe junction (like every other junction I've accidentally cut without purging the fuel first.) I salvaged literally everything possible on the entire ship up to this point and the only thing left to do was crack the thrusters and salvage the attached plating and stuff. I was worried I might have to abandon this job! No longer!

There should be a small coolant thing under the panels. You can use it with the grabble to ice the fuelpipes, so they wont burn if you cut them. Saw it in a video, its not my own idea ;)

Ah, that's what these coolants are good for! I've been noticing them the whole time without realizing what they could be used for ^^ I wonder if it's worth the time effort to freeze the pipes, gonna check that out - thanks for sharing!

@@daviddavodi You have to have reached the rank required to have a coolant hazard spawn before they appear. After that, they will always be there. If you tether the thruster to the back wall of the station before you start cutting the fuel pipes, you can fly in before the fuel sprays ignite in the first place and take zero damage very reliably.

@@Ic0nGaming Freezing the pipes is WAY easier.. you can even smash the frozen pipes with the cryo canister, although it's probably safer to just cut them while frozen with the stinger. Freezing pipes also works on the plasma pipes leading to the thrusters, if you forgot to disconnect them before shutting down the power.

Cutting the fuel lines isn't really the problem, it's when i release the thrusters. Sometimes they'll split at an extremely violent velocity and instantly kill me. Doesn't seem like something that was intended.

Happened to me as well, felt very buggy - there was no thing clearly visible for me killing me in that situation. Hope this'll get sorted out soon.

@@akukuat101 Avoiding it is quite easy. Don't cut the thruster modules off the main hull of the ship. As long as they stay attached, the fracturing won't cause instant crushing. Had this myself. Got killed by crushing, and next ship, didn't cut the thrusters off the ship, then the fuel line shutoff didn't even cause a vibration

Even better, tether the thruster before cutting fuel lines so it is pulled out of the way immediately. This way I was able to rush in and hit the cutoff without taking any damage.

getting the shells of these thrusters to go into the processor is probably the most annoying thing ever they just get pinned between the furnace and processor, no matter how i tether them

This is a commonly known bug, affecting a lot of people. Some people just get crushed without visible reason. It's sad and I hope it'll be fixed soon. Afaik you didn't do anything wrong, the game is just bonkers.

Ugh, is the bug still not fixed? This was a thing way when I recorded this and I still think it's nonsense when it happens. Nobody was so far able to explain me at least why it happens and how to avoid it. I'm very sorry for your loss, now get yourself a new clone :D

I've actually managed it a couple of times like this, but most of the time, you're right; the controller doesn't have the finesse to make the cuts quickly enough to pull it off.

I feel like the extremely dangerous engine design was absolutely intentional, and meant to really etch in the "you're expendable" part of the humor of an uncaring soulless corporation. Because of course you need to fly through a hallway of pressurized rocket fuel to reach the disassembly lever. Also i want to crush Lou's weird ugly face with a rock from space. Id rat HER out to the supervisor in a heartbeat. Other than forced ESG in the game its great, but because of it i cant recommend it.

I hear ya man. The whole story part feels so damn off. Especially since the game gives you no choices. This makes the story 100% hit or miss. Either you are all into this whole weird unionizing story-arc or you just hate it and don't want to waste your time with it. I mostly dislike this highly moralistic and preachy tone of the entire story. Like: I don't need those on the nose over-exaggerations about capitalism being evil and all. If anything it overly simplifies one very complex social issue. Anyways. I wish the devs would've listened to the community and focused more into the sandbox part of the game. You know, more ships, more stuff to dislodge. Maybe even a mini-starbase? Fuck man, there was so much missed opportunity when they decided to stuff their remaining Early Access time into this union storyline. But that's just my 2 cents.
