Great piece! I have an Atlas 618 lathe and 7b shaper. What a great stash of tooling too! Great posts.

Thanks, I picked mine up 2 days ago for $690 with only 6 end mill cutter, one slitting cutter and a digital Mahr Federal indicator. It has a home made steel welded base and a underpowered (IMO) 1/6hp motor. Luckily for me I can make a custom drip pan and custom base at a later time. Also I happen to have laying around a 1/2hp Dunlap motor for it. I was the first one to see it so I had to take it, several here in south jersey I have missed.

NYC CNC Yes Sir!! i picked the lil mill up about 3 weeks ago. i have already made a couple small repairs to her and have machined a T nut for my Hercus lathe and a few small parts for my normal work as as Meat Processing Machine Specialist. i really like the little mill and i'm dreaming up projects as i go along.

I was looking for a atlas to go with my atlas lathes but couldn't pass up a Sheldon horizontal mill,, all complete , l almost didn't go the price was so cheap at 300 dollars but glad I did except for the grease and grime was in perfect working condition and no run out on table and no play on knobs,, and automatic feed works great had nice end mill holder and arbor with 10 cutters and 6 end mills,, not much bigger than atlas but it's about 700 lbs,, l have a nice orginal milling attachment for my 12 inch lathe so I'm pretty well set up now.

nice gloat ., try keeping the arbor bearing on the protruding back end of the support-bar instead of on the front when not used. And always use an arbor as short as possible ,making it possible to move the Arbor-bearing closer to the spndle and more to the middle of the support-bar for maximum rigidity. thx for the vid ;)

Very nice find, especially with all the toolings. If you don't mind me asking what was the ball park price you paid for all of this. I'm currently looking into one here locally for $700 obo. Just trying to compare prices out there. Thanks.

@saunixcomp Thanks, if I get a call back with the one locally here in South Jersey, it won't be too far off for one of these here in the tri-state area. Good Luck. Will subscribe to your videos here ans look foward to more on the Atlas Mill.

Can you help me? I going to buy a mill like this one, and I´m looking for specific tools for this mill, like the spindle.

Do you still have this machine? Did you bring it here to Ohio? (I haven't looked yet to see if you have any other videos with it) I'm picking one up this week at a steal of a price, but I know for a fact that it doesn't come with as much tooling as yours!

How this MFC machine doing now???It been a while and you didn't post any new videos of machining on Atlas MFC....I looking for buy one just like that machine,problem that I didn't locate one yet...Despite that I have no machine or ever seen one I already know how to build vertical head attachment....Iam still working on my Craftsman 109 lathe,lot of modefications related to head stock assembly and spindle...New spindle now is 3/4 diameter,larger support and tension bushings made personally from brass,the apron seems wasn't originally was made by Craftsman but maybe by Sears or Logan brand,neverlentless it was modified to properly fit and balance..I don't think I even done there,original rotating nut probably would be replaced by more proper features,extension would be weld for standard crank rotation for feed also automatic rotation mechanism would be added...Science manual operation would required to install geared rack which somehow might benefit new turret tail stock that to build in mind.....As final component would be constructing gear box for lead screw feeding speeds,the original face gear drive assembly unchanged,holes drilled larger to support 3/4 spindle,brass bushings installed and reamed inside pulley/gear and final element is making cuts for a key..I had made my own version of Wen 12" drill press with way much thicker walls that can withstand 10 ton weight,been tested positively for pressure....It begun journey from near 3" steel pipe and become 2.550/2.556" instead,local machine shop didn't help me even one bit which made me course them 2 times,at the end after welding and initial grinding I end up with oval shape pipe science extra material was cutted off from it,than 2 sawed half's been weld professionally and grund off...By using my blacsmithing skills along with various draw bars and mallets I had round the pipe into correct shape,after that hard procedure been accomplished pipe been grinded and hand sanded for smoothness like original column,every single grinding and sanding operation was double checked with caliper every single time..Final result was 1:1 scale of original,all parts fit as expected not too tight and not too loose...Another modification is drilling holes in geared rack and making half round cut inside table elevating bracket for secondary bar that balances assembly..The table assembly cannot self rotate during drilling anymore which means drill bit cannot go out of center and same goes for the head,it cannot lean forward because of weak exhaust pipe like thin column....The final step still left to rewire motor speed indicator,it would be connected to switch and only would go on when motor get powered on instead just plugging wire in outlet...Particular drill press can be an milling machine with compound table and Er32 collets and chuck,it have MT2 arbor setting....

Poor IMPORT quality? Are you kidding? Talking about an Atlas product and quality? Zamak is the engineers answer to planned obsolescence, and no one ever used more zinc alloy than Atlas. I just brought one of these mills home for my little museum. The Asian imports are FAR better made, in materials anyway.
@nathanroberson
@nathanroberson 5 лет назад
Parts_ Production what asian import is a horizontal with power feed in this configuration. I’ve not seen one. This thing rocks! I have two of them. The track years are no issue with their ability and less you’re ignorant with your speeds and feeds.
