Atlas did a great job on that engine and passenger cars. I have the Amtrak E8 in the phase one paint scheme along with the matching passenger cars on order from Atlas. So looking forward to when those arrive. Thanks RJ for showing off this train for us!
Well done video, RJ. My son ryan also loves amtrank and cnj. We posted a video on amtrack passenger cars behind a p42 diesel. They unexpectedly had orange glow lighting, really special. Gary
Nice engine and a great video. I have the MTH model which I bought a few years ago when I thought MTH was no longer going to be in the train business. It’s one of my favorite engines in my collection!
Silly question - do the sound sets on these models capture the “whoop” sound of the air compressor on these GE’s? I’ve spent many nights behind them in the sleepers and would feel something is missing without that sound!
I have the Lionel 203 Operation LifeSaver Genesis, and the Lionel 46, 30 Anniversary Genesis & Atlas P42 108 Genesis. Why is The Atlas Genesis much bigger than the Lionel Genesis?
The Atlas one is built to true 1/48 O Scale proportions. The Lionel one is called “semi-scale” and built to non exact proportions to fit on smaller layouts
They have the same sounds… and as someone who is around P42s often, neither the MTH or Atlas sound files sound anything like what the actual ones sound like
@@rj.trains I have the heritage Phase II P42 66. The horn is way more accurate and can tell it was actually recorded from a real P42. The one you have uses the same horn sound file from the Proto 3 AEM-7 and has an e-bell.
