Awesome video.Change is always fun. I have a question. I have new model train channel. Can anyone tell me is it better to list my videos 'kids friendly" or not?
Very nice! Great progress in a fairly short time frame. All of that work will make for an exciting layout, for sure. Too bad that you couldn't have gone with O81 on the top level and O72 on the lower. The wider curves certainly make a big difference. I had to compromise on my layout, because of the availability of K-Line O81, but I've made provisions to take-up the O72 at the narrow end of the layout, when I can find some O81. Your music made me want to go over to Kent Rollins Cowboy Cooking Channel, as that is his theme music. Keep up the great work. An excellent video, as always.
I hope you have a smooth time of it updating your layout to fit your new vision, RJ. I know how difficult humidity is to deal with, having lived in Ohio when I was younger. Very uncomfortable. But you seem to be handling it well, and I look forward to part 2 as you come closer to realizing your new layout plan. It looks really great.
I feel your man I feel you I understand how it was as a kid Well , I would say since your parents and your dad's friend said that the polar express is a piece of garbage , I say that they're just a bunch of sore losers for saying that!
Good luck on your layout. Your original layout was my inspiration for my first 4by 8 layout. I appreciate that you are passionate but still realistic about what'll most of us can accomplish with our layouts. We have upgraded to an 8 by 18 foot layout and upgraded to Atlas track, you will not regret it. My village, even in the new and improved layout, it still very much inspired by your downtown. Good Luck!!! Lot's of work!😀
Nice shirt ACELA Am-Trak. New York not far from me as I live in the State of where American Railroading was founded ha-ha. Dips and Bumps make it Super Realistic, but Running is a problem, I get it. SD45 were the back bones of America in the 1980's FACT as Conrail had a lot of them as well as SD45-2 rebuild units with larger fuel tanks as they were that good. The American way is always BIGGER is always BETTER saying. What I love more than anything is that you're a Southern Fan 4501 and the fact of having Auto-racks of NS. Understood as most would say well yeah, he's in New York ah No CSX is in NY as well as NS ha-ha.
old #90 N&W 2-10-0 Decapod Locomotive, I remember her being brought up from the South back in the late 60's first stop within 100 miles from Strasburg Railroad she stopped at Allentown Reading & Lehigh Valley Yard engine terminal most will never tell you that EVER, as she was spun around facing the way Strasburg Railroad wanted her to be as Strasburg Railroad Roundtable at the Pennsylvania Museum wasn't built yet! I'm full of Surprises as most never knew about EC railroading, I will say.
Wow RJ that will be a lot more visible exciting are you going to use the river to get to the back track to clean or have a trap door on top to clean track ? Can’t wait for part 2 cute dog 👍😃🚂
New here Hello. Would like to start off by saying interesting layout understood under construction but please can you make a Video explaining your Kind of Kingdom railroading world. I watched a lot of your videos and see your Heavily into Passenger Trains but a little confused by the Time Er, Time Period and Brand name Railroad as most seek to model off of. I see your East Coast American but....... East Coast what!?! Please help me help you as I will like No other as I'm a Mystery to all. Got a Secret. Do you LIVE STREAM as you should or Hope you do!?
Hello. I do mention what I model in a few of my previous videos but, long story short, I buy trains from all time periods, from modern day to the 1800s. I like my layouts to be set so it wouldn't look out of place to see a modern freight or a steam locomotive passing by, so it is not set in any one time period. I am originally from New York, and lived for a few years in Washington DC, so I primarily collect models of railroads that operated in those areas. I do live stream occasionally, I will more when the layout is more complete.
Little wirering tip, I have been using Wago wire nuts. They are easy to connect & disconnect. For temporary track set ups for the kids, they have been great. When I do get to build a permanent layout, I will definitely still use them. Just tin the tips of the wires so they hold up over time. The new layout looks like it will be great. 👍
I would need about 25ft (2% grade up 6.5in) of track to make a semi realistic looking incline, which I do not have room for. I am not a fan of having inclines to different levels on a layout.
From one RJ'sTrains to another. Great idea! Looking forward to seeing the progress. If you need anything let me kow if there is anything I can do for you. Don't forget Homerun Derbry is on tonight!
Hey, RJ, you've made some great progress. Very impressive! As you are working away, I believe it would be a nice touch if you could bend the far end of the river inward such that it appears to disappear around the bend. Like what is seen in your track plan. That maybe exactly what you intend to do, I'm just not sure as it kind of looks like the river may end at the wall. Just thinking out loud, lol. Just take your time and have fun with it. Bill B.
I'll say this much for you RJ, you sure know how to WORK! I couldn't have accomplished so much in only 18 minutes! Ah, to be young again... What am I saying? I'm just gettin' started baby! 🤣😉🤩 Let me tell you, I can WELL understand dealing with the nightmare that is "Under the train table!" I have to deal with it several times a year, sometimes to dig out stuff I want to blow away at a train show OR when the Christmas train container has to come out. Pop some Tylenol and have the Ben-Gay standing by, there's no other way! Looking forward to the next installment, and that's a good-looking and well thought out trak plan!
Thank you Wayne! Yes Advil has been my friend through all of this. Had to take off from layout work tonight just because my back is in so much pain, haha
I have been kicking around track plan ideas to rebuild my layout with wider curves. Seeing this might help motivate me! I've been apprehensive about taking apart all that I have built, but I guess sometimes that is part of the fun of the hobby!
I feel your pain. My 12 × 20 foot layout had to be dismantled and sold when we decided to move. It had the distinction of being featured in a 2012 issue of Classic Toy Trains magazine. Taking that down took 2 weeks. Had over 700 feet of wiring under the platform. So yes, I feel your pain. Good luck with your NEXT one!
