This popped up in my feed a year after it was posted. Great video. I was just checking out some of the comments and questions about the timeline of the members in this band. I used to see them very regularly from like 1998 to 2006ish, and then sporadically after that until current day. The very first time I saw them (and I'm pretty sure this was the original 4) was Joe Lester on bass, Ralph, Bart Walsh guitar and Scott on drums. I then would see the same lineup but a guy named Mike (I think) on bass - no Joe. Then Roth snatched Bart for a 99 tour, and Brian Young stepped in on guitar. I know Russ played bass for a little bit but I think it was very temporary because every time I saw them after Mike, it was always Joe, until he finally recently went to Steel Panther full time, and was replaced by the bass player in the band now. Roth snatched Brian as well, I think around the Sam and Dave tour. And then Russ played guitar. Then Ralph and Russ finally left to do Steel Panther full time, and were replaced with the current singer Brian and another guitar player who's name escapes me. But he was great and lasted probably 10 years, until he was replaced with the current guitarist. Scott has always remained the same. I know way too much about a tribute band, but they were damn good and I love VH.

Wow! Great job on your timeline. I too remember Bart and that version of the band. That was when I met them first. They used to come to Vegas and play this bar called Pinky’s. It was a great rock club and we looked forward to them coming to Vegas. First time I met Ralph was in the dressing room drinking beer out of a horse trough. Some girls stole his boa that night too. lol I heard many years ago that Bart had passed away. I do remember him going with Dave as well as Brian Young. The night I recorded this, I only did it because I had extra tape. I was actually there to record the headliners. All these years later, I’m going through my old mini DV tapes and came across this. Didn’t know if anybody would be interested in seeing it but decided to post it anyway. Glad I did. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching my video. So glad you enjoyed :-)

@@RIKLASVEGAS I will watch it. Thank you. Weird coincidence, in my write up above, I mentioned an earlier bass player named Mike. I just saw this was posted a couple of days ago. RIP. It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our former bassist, Mike Andrews. Last week, Mike lost his courageous battle with lung cancer. He was everything you could hope for in a friend and bandmate. Mike was an incredible bass player who never made a mistake and was part of the driving force behind the rhythm section of the early version of the Atomic Punks. His talent and spirit will always be remembered.

Did Russ (Satchel) always play bass in this band? I swear I saw him on his rightful instrument guitar with the Atomic Punks before. But you know, there was a lot of pot being smoked in the crowd that night so....😂

Actually, I do not believe Russ played bass too long. I remember Joe Lester playing bass in this band. Until I watched this video a few months ago, I had no idea I was actually videotaping Russ on bass. If you figure it out, by all means comment on here. I’m just as curious.

I think what happened David Lee Roth took the guitarist for his solo band and they needed a lead guitarist for the atomic punks so satchel played lead guitar and Jon Lester played bass

@RIKLASVEGAS
@RIKLASVEGAS Год назад
The earliest version of the punks that I remember, had a bass player by the name of Joe Lester. I am not positive, but I think he is “spider“ in the new Steel Panther, replacing Lexi Foxx. I was just as surprised as you to see Satchel playing bass. I took this video 21 years ago and I have never watched it.
@Zakk_Ross
@Zakk_Ross Год назад
@@RIKLASVEGAS He definitely is Spyder now. That's the punks lineup I know with satch and Michael now. So this video would've been after Joe was in it? Or do you think maybe Joe had something come up so satchel covered bass and they had a friend play guitar?
@RIKLASVEGAS
@RIKLASVEGAS Год назад
@@Zakk_Ross my memory is playing tricks on me right now. I want to say Joe was before Satchel. But I am not confident. The first guitar player was Bart. At least when I was introduced to them. When you watch this video it is so hard to believe that Satchel is on bass when you know what Satchel is like in Steel Panther. The confidence between the two is remarkable.
@RIKLASVEGAS
@RIKLASVEGAS Год назад
@@Zakk_Ross Anything is possible. Unfortunately 21 years flew by and I only remember parts of it. 😁 I had absolutely no idea that was Satchel on bass until Ralph a.k.a., Michael Starr, said so in this video by introducing him. Satchel ended up playing with Rob Halford. I’m thinking Joe came after(?) 🤷‍♂️ Someone out there knows the answer to our timeline dilemma. Hopefully they will post the answer here. 😊
