This method of Blind Pegging is just what I needed! I have been stressing on how I was going to line up the pegs on my workbench top that I got done building. Thanks for sharing this!

I’m in the process of making this bench. We are renting a house and my machines are in storage so I’m doing all by hand. Making the whole thing from SYP. I’m a little under halfway done but it has been an exhilarating process so far. Really enjoying taking my time and furthering my hand tool skills. What an excellent design of a bench to be able to knock it down and move it if need be.

I bought Will Myers video on building this monrovian bench. Well worth it. Built my version out of 2x10 fur. Wish I would of used oak, but its an excellent bench and the video makes it pretty easy. This blind pegging trick really worked well. Never expected i could make it work for me, but it was dead on.

I made a pair last year pretty much without any help other than the free diagram and just did 2x 1" dowels. I like the nail trick a lot and would have gone that route if I knew about it, but I'm real happy with my benches anyway and use mine all the time. I thank you for making the diagram with the measurements available for free, they are perfect workbenches although I did my legs and stretchers an extra inch thick and Now I'm making my first real BIG project on it, a Vermont shaker moon bed. I always enjoy the videos, Will is a very talented and humble man.

is it common for Irwin bits to be oversize? I noticed my Irwin bit was oversized when running a test hole for a drawbore. Good thing I ran the test before taking it to the workpiece :) Russel Jennings bit was the exact size of the dowels made by my dowel plate.

I'm going to need some clarification on the foot-powered lateral material positioning technique at 0:45. The torque required, head positioning, etc.

Hey Will! I've read the NC Moravian diaries concerning the delivery and assembly of the organ designed and built by David Tannenberg, and I think based on everything I have seen so far that this workbench was a design/build of David's, and his apprentice (and son-in-law), Philip Bachman, took it along with the organ to NC in a wagon. He then agreed to do the church the favor of transporting the old organ to another church, and installing that there. I think he decided to leave his father-in-law's workbench behind for expedience. I doubt David would have left it if he were the one doing the installation. I would really appreciate it if you would share any changes you made to the original proportions of the workbench. I would like to build one, and I may need to make some size adjustments, but I want to know what the original measurements were. One day I will make the long journey to NC myself, but I need a worktable quicklike. BTW, this has totally floored me... finding you and the Moravian Workbench... because, well, I have reason to believe David "Danneberger" Tannenberg was my 6th great grandfather. The last thing I expected when googling Workbench Designs was to find this. Totally wonderful.Thank you.

Would it make more sense to put the slotted holes on the outer side instead of the inner? That way the wood expands outward from the fixed hole in the center. I just feel that if you want your other side or tray to maintain the same distance in the center you wouldn't want them to expand or contract relative to each other.
