The Atlantic ocean's pouring in through the head, there's diesel seeping up through the cabin sole, he's slip-sliding around in a putrid soup of squashed sea fly guts & what does Sam have to say for himself? "On the plus side, we should be making good time to Boston." 😂 That's our boy! 👍

Hey Sam - I live about a block from the Tea Party museum on Congress Street in Boston. Fun to see that you were here. I’m embarrassed about and apologize for the attitude of some of those sailors in your anchorage. I think those were Solings they were on, so know the club they are part of. I’ve been sailing out of Boston for many years, so have had my own dealings with them. They are not boat owners and are largely weekend, inner-harbor sailors, so wouldn’t even be bothered to read a chart to know you were in a legit anchorage. Very few people anchor there, so I’m sure they’ve come to just expect it’s “their” course without obstruction. The course should not have been set up around you, though. It’s on them. Hope it didn’t tarnish your visit. Take care and all the best in 2021.

Bostonians are just a culture of abrasiveness. It took me years to get to tolerate it but it still lands as rude a lot for people not from Boston. It may not be meant that way tho. They just grew up everyone being harsh abrasive and ugly to eachother so they don't even blink.

The USS Constitution is still a commissioned US Navy ship, crewed by active duty sailors. At least once a year it goes on a "turnaround cruise:" It is towed into the harbor, performs demonstrations, including at lease one gun salute, and then docks again facing in the opposite direction to ensure it weathers evenly.
@magdakaniewski
@magdakaniewski 3 года назад
Great video. We raced sometimes as well as cruise..amd we find some beer can racers really get overboard haha with the racing..they think they are in an America's cup race.. should have saluted them with a glass of fine scotch as they passed to ease their sour faces. For flies I hang these plastic hangers with a yellow saturated pad for insects. It's called d-fens. You can get them at home depot. Another benefit is that it keeps spiders away since it repels all the small insects and takes away their food source. We put one in the cabin, and one under the bimini

We bought a 1924 house that had a fuel oil (diesel) “incident” in the basement sometime during the ‘60’s. You can still smell it. I’m hoping we qualify for superfund cleanup at some point.

Gave me a flashback to a house in my hometown. Someone on Pear Street ordered 200 gallons of furnace oil. The driver went to the same number address on Peare Street and made the delivery. This house had been converted to gas and the oil tank in the basement removed. The filler pipe was still outside the house and the inside portion of it in the basement was never capped. Basement was soaked with fuel and even after it had been removed and cleaned up the fumes made the whole house uninhabitable. The court made the oil company buy the house.

Born and raised in Boston so please let me apologize for those stink eyed sailors. The hell with them! Your channel inspired me and my husband to take the ASA 101 and 103 and we sailed out of Charlestown which is where that white boat with the yellow masts is anchored.
