This scene alone is perfect to set up a supervillain origin for season 3. I can imagine one of the children with geass power from the order whose parents were researchers at this facility. This kid watched as Zero wiped out his/her family and everyone he/she ever loved. It would be cool to see this person grow up harboring a grudge against Zero(who's now Suzaku) and Suzaku has to faced Lelouch's past mistakes
I mean as of right now, CC and LL are looking for the geass fragments, whose to say one of those fragments didnt embed itself on one of the children from the order.
As shirley was already dead and he could do nothing to change it because he didn't knew, he preferred to use the situation and punish Rolo making he kills his own, nice change of table, better than become histeric
And here is one of the many reasons the black nights started to doubt Zero/lelouch. Killing children and un-armed civilians even if they have unnatural powers will haunt people and make them doubt those that gave the order

Geass order is Secret MILITARY Installation that produces Geass to fight against britannia enemy. It is not hospital or school that their only purpose is treated the wounded or teaching children. Their purpose is to creating Geass soldier for war against the world. Lelouch have legal justification to destroy geass order. Oh and dont you forget they experimented geass on children. man, it's kinda interesting how vv is basically a 62 year old man but still speaks like he's 10, I guess they were limited by the fact that the seiyuu they gave him who wouldn't have been able to pull the the stereotypical old man speaking patterns without making it sound comically uncanny
@@angelwater8987 That was too extreme, and too dark, I hated it, they were like 7 or 8 years old and they had Geass, Lelouch could’ve took them with him or given them a home. That was terrible, there was no reason to kill the kids, sure one of them had a guy kill another, but they were probably just scared and defending themselves, they shouldn’t have been killed
