Actually in the manga, Eren replied after Mikasa said that. Eren said, "I know and it's irredeemable". Eren already made up his mind by thinking of consequences of him moving forward and didn't feel bad about that.
@@dexkani9993 unfortunately those same eldians would sacrifice eren,or any eldian from paradis in order to save themselves, eren would be asking to get executed if he tried coming to marley just to talk
hmm but then how did he know M was gonna "do the thing". That's what had me confused a little bit in this episode. The "Scouts" weren't on board with the plan but they came to help anyway. I guess we'll get all the information next episode. can't wait!

@MythicalSpaceBoy Ymir did have experience with the Ackerman wrath; Season 2, Mikasa had her at blade point and Historia had to tell her not to move while they handled Bertholdt.
Bro those guards were known for being the *least* racist Marleyans in the show. They joked around with and supported the Warriors. They even tried to *protect* Gabi from danger.
Hell Udo even said Marleyans in general were the nicest people to Eldians than any other country hes been in. If Marleyans are nice I dont even know what the rest of the world does. (The Azumabito are probably nicer tho)
@@okeeguguru Honestly I know it’s small scale compared to starting revolutions, but being open and supportive to a group when there’s so much hate and propaganda surrounding them feels...nice? Idk aside from the “least racist Marleyans” in fandom joke, I personally think it means a lot if someone can let go of centuries old prejudices ingrained in them or never even share it to begin with. But that’s just my thoughts on the matter.
Obviously not all Eldians are rasist even with propaganda, the war was 100 years ago so elders can still remember , i guess that little more time and thinking will change, problem is that Eldiand in Paradiso dont have this time.
Also, while Mappa did cut one of their interactions with Gabi, they did keep the other one with tha warrior candidates, so we knew they are legit good people
What made this moment so cool is that to the people of Marley (and the rest of the world) the people of Paradis actually looked like devils for the first time. They came in the night, seemingly out of nowhere and started killing indiscriminately while looking unstoppable despite technically being the underdogs.
@@PurpleDovee i'm not talking about that , Naruto said he was going to end the cycle of pain and i joked about that and you didn't got it . My joke is ruined now
It's even more wild because I remember Zeke taking someone's ODM gear with him while being the Beast. I thought it was going to have negative consequences and Marley was going to develope some of their own. But ig not 😐
I know there would be haters. I know there would be people who dislike this season. But i loved the hell out of it and i as a manga readers loved this episode. I just want to say #ThankYouMappa
he never had to fight people that actually know how to fight back, i dont think hed have lasted even a minute in paradis if the scouts came for his sorry hide, and he wouldnt have lasted nearly as long as reiner did with the armor titan, he suffers from way too much pride for having never actually fought an enemy with the full intent on killing him and seeing him as prey rather than predator
@@filipecordeiro2867 Firstly: Marleyans are getting ambushed and surrounded by enemies. Secondly: Galliard is dealing with people used to fighting intelligent titans and are way better equipped now. When Thunder Spears and Eren were in play, Reiner went down quickly. Thirdly: Which one can endure more, Armored or Jaw? The answer is obvious. His titan isn't exactly as well off compared to other titans beyond his agility.
THIS is how you have a main character doing something morally disgusting for what they think is the right reasons due to grief, war and anger, take notes Game of Thrones writers.
Got was ahead of the books and on their final season and the creator of the books was taking too long to complete the final book so they had to rush things and wing it. :/
@@Dominicanadaa Got was an epic ride which came to a screeching and somewhat unsatisfying halt at season 8. Season 8 was so rushed thats the problem. If you havent watched it i say just watch 3 episodes of season 8 and dont watch it any more and leave it up to your imagination to finish up the rest
Normies: I don’t want to cheer for tthis anymore... Eren: come on, do it. Keep cheering, that’s what you came here for. Are you going to back down now?
Navi, keep in mind that if the War Hammer Titan's user was in the nape, Mikasa would've taken her out with her thunderspear surprise attack when she showed up on the scene.
@@2ndlegend125 Exactly. Marley had a great plan, unfortunately they are a nation who dominates war with titans, and the scouts are trained titan slayers.
I love Porko’s reaction to ODM gear and their tactics. He never would’ve have imagined that mere humans with swords would DARE to advance on a Titan, much less actually cause damage. We watched his sense of superiority crumble in under a minute.
There would have been a massacre regardless. As was mentioned, Tybur persuaded the whole world to go to war against everyone on Paradise Island. Eren just struck the first blow. The genocide in the internment zone is the result of the Marleyans constantly living in the past due to the sins of the Eldian ancestors. They saw the Eldians on Paradise Island as nothing more than demons, so demons they became. They've made their
I've noticed that people tend to forget the fact that Marley is actually the only nation that still wants to keep the Eldian race alive. For selfish reasons, yes, but it's true. The entire rest of the world wants them gone. So it's not really right to blame them for everything when they're actually protecting the Eldians that aren't on Paradis.
Except becoming demons is a choice; it's not inevitable. Mikasa and Jean clearly do not agree with how many unneeded casualties there are here. Eren and Floch can easily minimize the innocent deaths if they wanted; they just don't give a shit.
@@theman1594 because Bert and reiner were children and all three of them were brainwashed since birth and Eren has all the memories of the past and because of that is way more mature than most people alive in the show.
Aside from the amazing action, cg blend, plot twists, and overall hype, this is one of the SADDEST moments of AOT. Whether you agree with Eren or not, this is tragic. SASHA LOOKIN LIKE A SNACC THO
After 4 years in story time, 1.5 years real time, Mikasa's first word: "E R E H." Honestly, it's not funny; you can hear the tragedy in her voice as she begs him to come home. Still, meme's gotta meme.

Can't recall when last I saw Chris so vividly excited. Compared to the reactions you all had to the prior episodes this season, this episode had me wondering if it was a different group of people at times, lol. Looking forward to future big moments this season. There're so many.
For all the people complaining about the CGI, remember that WIT basically went bankrupt during their run on AoT. MAPPA is doing what they can, especially since the manga still hasn't ended.
The number 1 thing I’m great full for this season is the lack of censorship. It makes you feel more emotion. Also questioning why Mappa put the disclaimer warning last week and not this week 😂
I live for that high pitched voices full of emotion when Levi showed up 😂😂 you guys are so funny I LOVED the last scene with all the scouts shadows and the light behind! The animation was so cool!
@@abrarbw Yeah. I liked all Mappa episodes so far, but they really botched the chance to show that Eren still have emotion underneath those dead eyes of his. I don't mind it too much still because I know for a fact that future story beats will portray this in a clearer manner. But I still remember those nuances being my favorite Eren parts in the chapters equivalent to these last two episodes.
Don't you just love how when he said "the devil's of paradise" It founded like he was addressing levi directly. Japanese word for "devil" is "akuman" and it sounds like ackerman. Sick af
I don't know, I still side with Eren and the scouts on this. They were literally walled off in what in our world could be considered a ghetto or an internment camp even, albeit obviously a large one. Punished for generations for the sins of people they didn't even know, and without even knowing their own history. The scenario in many ways bears resemblances to Germany just before WW2. The Treaty of Versaiiles was one of the primary reasons hypernationlism in Germany resulted in the rise of Hitler - Germans were tired of being punished and having their economy in shambles over what they probably viewed as punishments that did not match the crimes, punishing people who did not commit those crimes, which birthed even more atrocity although the comparison isn't perfect since the Scouts are not retaliating with genocide, just military action towards their aggressors. So, to sum it up, not only did Marley slaughter the people of Paradise Island with titans, they did so after keeping them isolated in a giant internment camp while keeping them ignorant of their own history and that of the world, and even that the outside world existed at all. All while pretending that they are better than the Eldian Empire when what have they done in the first 5 episodes of this season? They act like they aren't exactly what the Eldian Empire was - A nation subjugating others through the power and fear of the titans. The methods may be harsh but in my mind they are getting exactly what they deserve for the unspeakable horrors they've committed under the guise of moral superiority.
It was Karl Fritz and his people that decided to stay inside those walls, not Marley, and the issue people like me have morally with this episode, is in regards to Eren mostly, who killed innocent people that never did anything wrong to him.
Bruh. Litteraly SNK's main story theme is how no one should be accounted for the crimes of your ancestors. You didn't chose to live, nor your origins. It's why Eldians (for being capable of turning into monsters/titans) are fighting Marley, and now why the ones in the concentration camps are fighting Paradise, for being victims of a massacre. SNK is a 100% anti-war story that show that the only side that always loses wars is humanity and innocents people. The ones who deserves deaths are the one responsible for this situation, not Marley's population
You also have to realize that the problem stems from more than just racism and antisemitism. The Founder, Ymir, made a deal with a literal devil to obtain monstrous and inhuman power. And that power was used to subjugate tribes of regular human beings (most notably, Marley). The problem couldn't be nipped by Marley simply forgiving Eldians, as Eldians aren't human to begin with. Udo even noted how he was from abroad (the Middle East), and Eldians get treated even more harshly over there than they do in Marley. Eldians are hated by the world, not just Marley, because they are dangerous monsters. Plus, Marleyians were under the assumption that the royal Eldians were forced out of Marley by 'Helos' rather than knowing that King Fritz left peacefully because he was ashamed of the Eldians. Marley was justified in their actions toward Eldians after the Great Titan War simply because the Eldians are monsters (not human) and King Fritz himself didn't mind that the world hated Eldians. This story is just cruel for the simple fact that we got to know the devils themselves and experienced the world from their perspective. How Germans were treated after that treaty really could've been handled better because all it would've taken was for the UN to have a mentality switch. Eldians don't get that chance because the dangerous part about them is in their blood, and that effects more than just body anatomy or religion that other humans may find dangerous for whatever reason; Eldians pose a physical threat to humans. The more 'humane' thing for Marley to have done with Eldians was to simply kill all of them, rather than to keep them enslaved just to pay for the sin of their blood, but we know how humans are about making species of animal go instinct.
@@Darkside13190 My thoughts exactly. Whether it’s Paradis Island or the Nation of Marley, both are just victims of story set in motion long before they were born. Forced to perpetuate the same cycle of violence and hatred for one another. Neither side ever understanding that only in letting go will their pain truly end.
@@tariqjohnson2154 I'm sorry but this is naive to the extreme. What some call "letting go" others call "allowing yourself to get walked all over." This is a gross oversimplification of a complex matter, and the fact is that if you don't stand up for yourself, people will CONTINUE to walk all over you. No one stood up to the Nazis in the beginning, which is why 6 million Jews, colored people, and disabled people were slaughtered. People think the cycle of violence continues because of retaliation. Tell that to someone who has been in an abusive relationship and never retaliated and thus continues to be abused and sometimes even killed. Tell that to people who are taken advantage of and broken over and over again until someone stands up and says "enough." The cycle of violence continues no matter what action we take, period. And I'd rather stand up for myself and for those being downtrodden then allow awful things to continue by childishly thinking "oh no, if I retaliate then the cycle of violence will continue" which then perpetuates more violence towards the weak.
22:30 Chris: "let me not use the third bullet to take out the kid, because the kids not going to actively affect the war" let's remember this for the future 😋

From growing with Eren after all these years (literally), via the anime, he would've obviously stopped his quest for vengeance after reaching the ocean. BUT something happened after he touched Historia which then compelled him to keep going. Eren knows *something,* in regards to how to defeat the titans forever; but in order to accomplish this he's gonna have to make some very contentious decisions.Hence the sudden character shift after he came into contact with Historia.
@@Blackfoxloki How am I giving away the plot? I never read the manga and I'm only guessing what might actually happen based on clues and hints dropped through out the anime. Eren knows something. What it is I have no idea but it obviously has something to do with his never ending goal to kill all the Titans. Was my guess that spot on? Because judging from your reply it is. Which means the only one here who just spoiled the plot is you.

Your reactions at @12:42... living for it! Gotta say, I really like your channel. I'm separated from my family and friends--I live on the other side of the world from them. So not only is distance a problem, but time zones are, too. I started watching when the pandemic broke out... so I guess almost a year now. I hope it's not weird to say: it's been comforting watching your content. I started out re-watching Avatar with you guys, then moved onto re-watching Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, Death Note, and others. Your channel seems more genuine than some others that appear to do these types of videos just for the views or just because anime is suddenly "cool" now. Also, I have a friend that works in a Japanese animation studio, and I'm really grateful for the non-market substitute shout-out you guys give. PS I'm a graphic designer, and I like your re-brand
Been watching your journey of attack on titan since season 1 and its an absolute delight to watch this final season with you guys. Love your reactions and the team, super excited of whats to come :)
This was a great discussion guys. I think you did a good job analyzing why this attack happened and I think it helped me come to terms with it a bit more too.
This episode blew me away. These last few episodes have made it so hard for me to chose a side that at this point I can’t even chose one. (Also my girlfriend has been hinting towards wanting a wearable scout blanket for forever now so that would be the most perfect early birthday gift I could give her!)
Im loving your discussion. Intelligent and considering multiple perspectives. Well done. This show is not about picking sides, coz there are no good or bad sides. There is no truth in this world, everyone is just trying to save their own people by massacring others. That's the reality.
Just a heads up, the gate guards always cared about the kids and listened to them. They were the same guards who the warrior candidates told Flaco beat Gabi in a race.
Chris is usually the smartest of the Normies, but you're not wrong. Thing is he gets somewhat distracted because of his disgust of nazis, fascists and their fictional equivalents. An understandable sentiment, really.
The fact that Sasha didn't shoot Gabi in that scene really makes me believe that Gabi will do something huge this season. I'm kinda worried and excited at the same time for what that will be. Also I've never read the manga so no spoilers please.
To be fair, Gabi’s life goal was to slaughter the Eldians and Marley declared war first. Eren and his people had no intention of attacking Marley back then. They didnt even know Marley existed back then.
@@wolves44445 yeah you're right. Well eren's goal was also too slaughter all the titans and when he found out its actually humans he wanted to kill them too.

The first King just erased all their memories so they didn't remember doing it.
