inspired by the corridor crew video i trained the AI to mimic wit studio style and here is what i came up with Corridor crew video : • Did We Just Change Ani... #attackontitan #aot #season4 #part2 #witstudio #mappastudio
WIT' style portrayed this vibrancy and sense of wonder, hope and discovery while MAPPA displays darkness, depth and grit that fits the narrative during the later seasons.
It is not about art style It is incredible how Mappa studio is not able to do good episode-writing like WiT used to do. The hype scenes is not as hype as it used to be and the usage of OST is awful. Few moments in these 2 last movie-episodes had that goosebump moments that evey single episode of WiT studio had. I dont understand why the episodes o Mappa seems so weird, and Im not talking about the art style or CGI titans (which are very good) I'm talking about how the scenes happen and are put together.
@@megazero203 Tbh I don't think it did. It went from Levi having a conversation with that one girl to her getting blasted in the face and him dodging bullets running on the rooftops like it was mirrors edge than the next episode plays with that crazy scene. I could be wrong but still one of the coldest scenes in anime
@@FallenLight0 same thing happened to me. I read the manga before watching everything but damn, some how Wit still managed to give me the hype while idk for some reason mappa's aot is really bland and doesn't give me much emotion.
The AI really struggled with the balance between light and dark, but most of the character designs looked outstanding. It’s not outside the realm of possibility that in, like, three years someone will be able to make a near-flawless AI Wit S4.
I mean honestly, looking at their other work, it's not a lack of skill. They're just not being given enough time and/or money. Weird since it was the biggest anime in the entire world and one of the biggest shows overall at some points
@@FallenLight0dude all of season 3 had a serious downgrade in ODM action, purely because it was so hard to do given the schedule. The only two scenes that were on par with season 1 were the Levi sakuga in each part. Mappa has already outdone late wit with the last few parts of the final season.
@@sinesjoe honestly id love to see hange's death to be reanimated too, the original scene by mappa is still amazing and one of the best odm gear scenes in the show id say, but I cant help but imagine what wit could've done
I never understood why the MAPPA went with such a different colour pallete that wit did, and dont start with the "its done on purpose to better fit the seasons narrative". Its the same fucking anime, there was pain grief and pain present long before season 4.
This has a lot of potential, it's understanding of the thick outlines and rim-lighting in particular are very impressive. I do wonder how successful it will be with something like mushoku season 2 where every aspect of the series but the character designs remained the same
Man I really wish mappa didn't barcode everyone's face to the point where I feel like I could scan their faces in Walmart and be charged for it, i still wouldn't think they are perfect or better than wits work but it would've helped a lot.
You can check how closely season 4 resembles the manga more than the other 3 seasons. Also the expressions and movements of characters of season 4 are now visually appealing. That's just my subjective opinion
@@krusher737wit faithfully adapted the manga's style too it's just there is improvement in isayama's art style in the latter chapters that's why it's already different when mappa adapted it
DAMNNNNNNNN it looks so gooooooooooooood it's not 10/10 but it's really really good man.... please make more and more videos. it really feels like wit's season 4. all the shots and the lightings are just GREATTTTT
Oh sweet baby Jesus this is like ecstasy for this hopeless WIT AoT romantic. Mappa's adaptation never had the same magic as WIT's adaptation for me. I would pay to see all of 4 animated in their style
I honestly am so glad MAPPA took over for s4. I love the thematic difference it has and the tone/coloring choices for s4. It fit so well and feels a lot more realistic/grounded. WiT gives me "child-like"(?) feelings, which still is a GREAT animation dont get me wrong but I think MAPPA just has a different solid feel to it that fits s4 so well and I love it.
Yup. Isayamas art and character designs are unique and mappa captured that perfectly. I love wit but they tend to beautify things way too much. The only thing i like about wit is the lighting and the colouring for the titans.
The problem is not about tone of art style. It is storyboarding, episode writting. It is incredible how Mappa studio is not able to do good episode-writing like WiT used to do.
OH MY GOSH EVERYONE LOOKS MUCH MORE HOTTER THIS TIME :o man i wish I can rewatch all of s4 in this style cuz i also love WIT studio's style as it's the one my brain is used to :(
Honestly the tonal shift in season 4 was a perfect match for MAPPA and seasons 1-3 being more action packed was great for WIT studios. MAPPA knows how to make great looking faces and eyes and knows how to show expression, which was needed for season 4
Stop it, the tonal shift came during the first Marley flashback (telling the story of the owl and Faye's death) and not at the point where mappa took over. WIT's adaptation in those scenes is still better than what mappa did in season 4.
Contrary to what most people think, I believe that the studio change from S3 to S4 was perfect. Since, from S4 the story gets a brand new perspective, the change of style helps to give this,”new vibe”. Like if you’ve watched the anime, whenever you remember the first three seasons, it’s always warm, cozy and comforting image.(WIT style) however when You start to remember the S4, you get this cold, eiry and uncomfy feeling if you know what I mean (MAPPA style). So ya, imo, the change of studio has been a perfect coincidence
Yes and Seasons 1-3 at least had some sort of hope..and also nature's beauty..while Season 4 was filled with despair, modern day war techniques and the city scenes mostly (Marley)..so the studio change fits well in my opinion
the problem isn't the new style with giving it a darker vibe. The problem is that mappas version lacks depth. Wit studio brought the characters to life, made them feel more real, as they should do. it made everything feel much more impactful. Wit studio easily could've adopted that new look, simply by doing more shading and toning down the brightness in some areas, while still keeping that depth to the characters and making them feel real, as appose to the 2d flatness and almost lifeless that mappa gave us.
Oh man, how i wish WIT had continued making the Anime...seeing this video only reinforced this idea in my mind. Just look at Eren, Levi, Reiner and Annie faces (specially Annie, see in 4:30 the difference is night and day), they look so off in the MAPPA's style, but here they look very familiar and loyal to their design in the previous seasons...also, Yelena and Commander Magath look aweasome aswell. This was a great experience, after watching the anime finale, these shots hit different. Thank you for sharing these, great work bro ! 💪😎♥️
the problem is, its not just about the artdtyle that made wit studios version better. It's their direction that was impeccable. If you notice, the way mappa uses music and how wit uses music is totally different. In scenes from season 4, the music is kind of just quietly playing in the background while the action is happening. While on earlier seasons by wit studio, the music would play loudly when certain events or actions happened, heightening the experience and impact of that moment. The music seemed more like a character instead of just an after thought. Also, as many have pointed out, wit studio's music choice is also just a lot better.. Had Wit studio made season 4, every incredible moment would have been much more hype or impactful that how it felt with mappas season 4. It's a shame we missed out on what could've been the most insane experience of watching an anime ever.
The main difference between Wit and Mappa is, in my opinion, the shading of faces. There is of course the CGI but the shading is an even bigger difference. The shading done by Mappa gives each character a tired and depressed feeling. I couldn´t get used to it, but it is actually closer to the manga´s art style. I still like the Wit animation far more than the Mappa animation, but the artstyle of season 4 really fits the darkness and pessimism of the later story.
Please make more of this. This is so cool!! Making shots from season 4 look like how the first 3 seasons looked makes the show look more consistent with the preexisting continuity. Having young Eren and mikasa look the way they did from episode 1 just makes sense and this is the closest we can get to making the show look looked it was made by 1 studio again
The changes are just reducing details, adding highlights, and increasing the contrast and saturation with a warm hue. It’s not exactly Wit, but I see where it’s coming from. I still prefer Mappa’s style for season 4 because Wit’s is almost fantastical and beautiful, and then when you find out the truth of the world it turns into grounded and realistic Mappa style
@@noyuzu lmfao dude said “traced,” Mappa just followed the manga panels more closely, which WiT could have stood to do more of after they butchered Mikasa’s character and the opening scene of the show (Eren under the tree). Both studios have their strengths and weaknesses
So i watched ancient magus bride 2nd season.. and i felt there’s something weird with the animation and the coloring, it’s not as magical as the 1st season.. until i read the description, studio on 1st season is WIT, the 2nd one was made by another studio… WIT really has amazing style
S4 was already gonna be jarring with the time skip and different settings. Pair that with downgraded visuals and it just doesnt feel like the same show. This helps!
I feel like Mappa made it way more cinematic than Wit. S4 part 3 was the most cinematic and well animated episode in all of attack on Titan. Wit wouldn’t be able to recreate the horror of the rumbling like Mappa did. Also, the dialogue in season 4 is way better and actually feels interesting because they don’t just pan around the room. Mappa also actually gave character to Mikasa, wit cut out all of her lines and made her seem like she was just there for Eren. She has way more of a personality in season 4
@@WingsOfRequiem Bro you telling me S4 p3 outshines S3 p2? No offense man but that's kinda cap 😂 I am not saying mappa was bad, because it definitely wasn't. They did really well for what little time they had and I appreciate what we have but Wit still takes the cake by a long shot. It's just much smoother, not jagged or jarring and the titan animations were so good.
@@andrewgerges2391 It absolutely does. You think of 1 or 2 ODM scenes which WIT did amazing in s3 p2, no questions asked. But the overall style of WIT was lacking, and I know you will find a way to cry about how WIT is better and whatsoever, your opinion, but you are lying to yourself.
@@HardRoboMusic I don't understand how Wit was lacking. Their style was literally perfect I absolutely loved it, the animation the effects the art, the setting everything was on point. You are delusional if you think Wit wasn't good 😂. I can't even believe you think Mappa is better when they had much less time to work on it than Wit. You sound like one of those mappa fans tbh.
I don't like MAPPA's take, part of the reason the first seasons were so good was the art style and the vibrant colors used to contrast. Where as MAPPA's feels lifeless, WITs color squeme and style transmits everything you need to know about the scene without as much detail as MAPPA and 100x better IMO.
Studio change was honestly perfect. Wit matched the tone of finding the truth of the world and walls, and mappa’s style perfectly encapsulates the pain and grittiness of season four and what really lay outside the walls
I absolutely hate what MAPPA has done with AOT. It's not absolute garbage, but I don't see why people praise it as much as they do. Season 1 and 2 are masterpieces in terms of music, direction, animation, art, basically everything. Season 3 was rushed and the animation quality dropped, but man did they go out on some scenes that MAPPA has yet to match.
mappa has done better in many scenes compared to s3 , for s3 p2 is the 2nd worst(still amazing) when it comes to animation, it all comes down to direction, imo i blame the committee , were to stubborn to give aot more time and allowing mappa to sort out aot , they had to beg for more time for p3, aot s4 couldve been the same as csm or a vinland saga situation , with the premade trailer it couldve been just as good just like how they did with csm
Hate my comment idgaf, y’all want WIT Studio cuz you miss the timez where these characters where good looking that’s why some people don’t understand the plot or whatever. MAPPA had definitely took the anime another level for it’s final season.
The only problem is that WIT's high detail and linwork and MAPPA's stiff and motionless frames dont go together well. If it was possible to add frames it would be even better and believable.
I wish mappa at least brought back the guy responsible for the character designs, so visually the show looks consistent. People would've complained A LOT LESS if they did that. Even tho Mappa's style is closer to the manga style, most people are familiar with WIT's style, and most people like consistency. I myself am not bothered by the style change, but I'll say it, Wit's style fits AoT a lot more. You can see that in the flashback scenes with Eren in Mikasa, the AI version looks exactly like S1 Eren, I always felt that kid Eren looked kinda weird in the Mappa style, now I know why.
Bro I am begging you do more of these, I am addicted to this kind of WIT v MAPPA stuff. Just a though - and you'd be insane for doing this bc of how long it'd take -, but I wonder if this could be brought up to a higher quality standard by using higer-res versions of the frames, and touching it all up with photoshop at the end (adding backgrounds, makeup, effects etc). I imagine at this rate, we'd be able to relatively easily redesign the entire season using AI within the next 5 years - just imagine...
Great video! I was hoping to know what software and how to use it so that I can eventually do this but with other series. The possibilities are endless!
