I mean he'd be like "Interesting, that guy's got the same last name as us and my son who got executed before he could have a 2nd kid, could be a distant relative"
Can't believe people call Eren's character an "Edgelord." No, edgy cringe guys are ones without explanation for the actions that they are able to do along with starting perfect from the jump. Eren was anything BUT perfect in episode 5 of season 1. Yes he has an unhinged personality trait but he clearly shows empathy and remorse in a few actions he does
Eren shaking Reiners hand I think was Eren saying: “I understand why you had to do what you did. I respect you in a way because now We’re the same. But now I have to do what I have to do!”
Eren basically said: I thought you were a villain because I wasn't in your shoes, now I understand, we're the same. Don't take this personally but I'm destroying your hometown too
He literally pulled the uno reverse card on Reiner when Reiner also pulled him up from the ground in one of the flashbacks this season. Definitely shows how these two are very similar in many ways.
@@damester13 yeah when Eren kept blaming himself for not being as strong as Mikasa and Reiner, to which Reiner responded back that just keep moving forward and kill all those titans.
I like how eren did this because i think if he just came and destroyed marley, reiner might have felt guilty that eren was getting revenge for them destroying the wall and lying to them for years. His mental health might have been way worse
Gabi kills Sasha. Levi gets Blown up. Eren’s head get shot off. Hanji dies. Eren Impregnates Historia. Survey Corps gets poisoned with Zeke’s Titan fluid mixed with wine🍷.
Technically Willy didnt lie in his speech, there was an uprising against King Fritz's rule and the Founding Titan was stolen and is in the hands of Eren. Its all about perspective and because they see King Fritz as the good guy, naturally they would think anybody who overthrew his rule would be seen as the bad guys.
Yeah they probably heard the word "stolen" and got a negative connatation from it, but that's basically what Grisha did. He just ran up on them and ate Frieda 😂
I don't get why you need to say technically, what he said (after saying the truth is a little different ofc) was 100% true. Grisha stole the power and gave it to Eren and now Eren has the ability to end the world if he wills.
But it wasn't like they suddenly didn't trust/hate Eldians when they heard the Founding was taken. They still hated and mistreated them wrong for ages.
I know! It always struck me as ridiculously sad that Bertholdt worked so hard to get his mission over with so he could see his dad before he passed away, but he never got the chance. Ouchhh
yeah... considering there were so many ppl with differently working brains... one of them had to know who Hoover is... Most reactors are watching S4 after a break, and so have forgotten the details. Or they are clouts.
Reiner: “No Eren you can’t transform there’s too many innocent lives around.” Eren: “Human Lives? Is that some type of boomer joke I’m too young to understand?”
Peace was an option that's why Eren didn't straight up just kill everyone once they got to Marley, he was waiting to listen to what Willy was going to declare. Eren gave them a chance unlike Reiner who never listened to Eldians before destroying the Walls and causing mass Genocide and then regretting what he had done years later after he learned Eldians aren't demon's they're just humans trying to survive.
@@LonexCyborg Reiner was a brainwashed child, he didn't know better. Thats the point of highlighting Eren's previous statement of "I'll make you guys die in the most painful way possible.", Eren didn't know better to not blame them. The ones at fault are those in Marley who ordered the attack on Paradis, not the kids who were used as weapons of war. I'm not saying Eren shouldn't have attack here because he understood everything though.
The way Eren's eye lights up and he cracks a smile when Willy says : "because I was born into this world" was so good and so sad ,it's the same line he said in season 1, it's the same for Paradise Island, they were born into this world so why is this world rejecting their right to live, this story is amazing
@@thelegacyofgaming2928 no that's a different one , she basically said he's special just by virtue of being born, but in season 1 when eren lost consciousness and armin tried to wake him to lift the boulder, armin asked eren about why he wants to go to the outside world, and in his dream eren responded "because I was born into this world"
The cut on his hand was used kind of like a gun pointed at Reiner. Titan shifters always create a wound to activate their transformation so Eren was letting Reiner know to relax or I’m going ham
I thought titan shifters automatically transformed when hurt. So he can control when he wants to transform. Because his hand was cut, he could transform when he so chose to?
@Undying Uzumaki does he need the cut for that though? Remember season 1 when eren goes to reach a spoon on the floor but couldn’t get it, but then turns his arm into a Titan to grab it, there was no cut there, just his will to grab the spoon. Maybe founding Titan just needs the will? Also dont spoil
The trick is falco witnesses their conversation but at the same time he is a countermeasure for reiner to not transform if anything happens, same for the people in the building.
He wasn't even a countermeasure, he just wanted Falco to understand why the things that were about to happen were going to happen. This later changes Falco's mindset as Eren already could tell Falco was smart enough to understand the other side of things unlike Gabi.
@@thelegacyofgaming2928 i know thats why i added falco witnesses their conversation. But think anout it even tho Reiner’s mind was totally of at that moment he would at least have a chance to partially stop Eren from going berserk.• spoilers from here for anime onlys• We see Reiner later in the story wanting to stop Eren even with that mindset.
The reason Eren is there talking to Reiner is to convince himself that what he's about to do is just and he has no choice, the same way Reiner did back then.
the reason eren pulled up reiner was the parallels between them. reiner told eren when eren was kneeling on the floor to keep pushing forward. and now eren pulls up reiner and tells him he's going to keep pushing forward.
I felt like this was more of Eren justifying his action to someone that knows the full history. To anyone else outside of the main cast, this looks like Eren has been planning an attack this whole time. In Eren's eyes this is almost a pre-emptive strike. To him, Marely's culture of indoctrination would have always ended in Paradis always being attacked. To protect "his" people the would take the war the enemy. It's an example of the more complex paradox of leadership. Attack an enemy in their home because there is a high chance of an attack on your lands. OR wait till the attack comes, possibly killing many of your people but you are justified in your reaction.
I found Eren's talk more of him empathizing with Reiner rather than trying to justify what he is about to do. Like he wanted to explain to Reiner that he finally understands him being that they are now the same having both spent time eating, sleeping and interacting with the enemy. Basically like, "You know what? I was really mad at you, I wanted to kill you. But now that I've grown up and invaded your hometown like you did mine, I really get it now, we are the same. You had no other choice than to keep pushing forward to protect the world, just like I'm going to keep pushing forward to protect MY world".
I mean, this isn't even a pre-emptive strike. He waited until a formal declaration of war was made to do anything. Sure, what he actually did immediately *was* a series of increasingly severe war crimes, but in terms of the ethics of war right up until the end of this season Eren still had a better moral highground than the United States has held at any point in the last fifty years.
To be honest, the marly is the one who broke the deal first, they been sending titans to paradise island for years... And remember the deal.. Don't bother them, so basically eren is just doing what supposed to happen if they broke the deal... THE RUMBLING BEGINS HERE!
"marly is the one who broke the deal first, they been sending titans to paradise island for years" wait what was the deal again? is there a deal where if marley bothers them, they will send in the rumbling? i don't quite remember the deal but i do remember about King Frits promise to not bother the other people. this is weird, cuz if that was the deal than thats weird cuz King Fritz himself stated that if Marley grow strong and decided to take the founding titan or his life, he will accept it. this means that if Marley send an army to capture the founding titan, to kill or whatever, King Fritz will not fight back, he will accept it cuz he believe the sins of the eldiens were so grave that they could never atoned for it. so basically King Fritz doesn't mind if his eldien people got killed by the marley cuz he thinks it is justified for the horrible things that had happen in the past pretty dumb of King Fritz. this is why Eren fight, because King Fritz ideology is stupid cuz why does the eldien that got nothing to do with the past eldien should die as well?
That would be like saying “the nazis did unjust warcrimes. So im gonna flatten the entire country until no german woman, man or child is left alive.” Nothing that happened was ever justice.
@@kalebdickerson268 I think its actually pretty tame. I had one that was crazier for about 3 months before it got took down lol the cartoon pics are easier to keep up
Sure, but... there is a big but.. even if they do not declare the war, Eren could still destroy the world. As Willy knows that Paradis people have already infiltrated Marley. So he knows they are here to war, so at least Willy tries to recruit the whole world to join him and fight against Eren. It's like, if we are going to die anyway, we might just die fighting. Justified move imo.
it makes sense why they would attack tho seeing how they could literally activate the rumbling at any time and could hold the world hostage and recreate the eldian empire (which was grisha and the restorationists plan from the beginning) so it would make sense why the world would want to fight back instead of being enslaved again for another 2000 years.
Willy: This person is able to destroy the world because the vow of renouncing war does no longer apply on him. The Normies: "That dude probably made that up. Time will tell if you think it was a lie XD Long live Willy Tybur. Truly a man who gave his life to prove his point to the entire world.
People give willy alot of shit but I respect him alot he was right about everything in his speech and he is right saying eren should be eliminated. He is a threat to the entire world and willy is the only one with the balls to declare war to try and beat paradis
@@sedlyholmes3722 Eren needs someone with royal blood to activate past memories, but needs someone with royal blood and is also a titan shifter to use the power of the funding titan
“Eldians we’re good before” did he even watch the fucking show the founding titan can see all past and when king Fritz got the founding titan he felt so bad he’d rather just have all his people perish I think that pretty much proves the complete opposite
Gabi kills Sasha. Levi gets Blown up. Eren’s head get shot off. Hanji dies. Eren Impregnates Historia. Survey Corps gets poisoned with Zeke’s Titan fluid mixed with wine🍷.
I got confused about it while reading Manga too but I don't understand how people got confused while watching Anime because Voice was so different from Armin
I mean Willy isn’t wrong that Eren poses a massive threat to the rest of the world, he does that’s a fact. But they do kinda twist and leave out now them destroying the walls definitely helped in getting Eren to where he is (I mean Grisha was going after them anyway) And if I had to chose between Marley’s or Grisha’s story I’d chose Marley. Just because Fritz wanted peace doesn’t mean all previous kings did. I feel the actual truth is a mix of the 2 and not 1 or the other since that’s usually how the real world works, bias is a thing and both sides take part (I mean Grisha legit made his up because Pictures kinda looked like what he believed)
All the things Willy said were true. Most of them were confirmed in season 3 (like the vow renouncing war and Uri telling Kenny that he wanted to create a paradise). The thing I see that most people have a problem with is how Willy "bent" the story to make Eren seem like a bad guy. Eren is a bad guy for Marley and the entire world (he even said in at the end of season 3 "when we kill all our enemies, will we finally be free?"). Willy just proved that the king of the wall was a pacifist. What would he think of a man that kills the pacifist and takes "the switch for the nuclear weapons" but to think that he is a threat
It's true that titans were terrorizing people due to their sheer strength, but Eren being a danger actually was false, as Eren was only committed to destroying his enemies. So if Willy never declared war, they would all be safe. It's literally Willy's fault that it came to this.
Once the king made a vow renouncing war.. all the royal bloods inheriting the founding titan were bound to that will.. even if they were pro war before getting the powers the vow would override that desire and they will become peaceful!
About the nurse that was taking the names of the corpses in S1. She wasn't uninterested per se, it was more that she's seen so many corpses now she's essentially dead inside. Its a horrifying experience if you think about it.
@@IXSICNESS Watch the next episode preview and you'll see why he's still alive. The Warhammer Titan is seen transforming......i hope you can piece it together now, I don't want to spoil it for you. I hate spoilers.
The cut in erens hand was a threat to Reiner that he could transform at anytime. He didn’t need to bite or cut himself because he had already done that step.
Mappa did such a great job adapting this part of the manga. The animation, art, voice acting and soundtrack were all top tier in this episode. Cannot wait for next week's episode.
at around 23:44 I think Marketa was confused about how Grisha got the founding titan and it wasn't from the owl (Eren Kruger) but from the Reiss family. Grisha got the attack titan from the owl. So essentially he passed on two intelligent titans to Eren, the attack titan (from the owl) and the founding titan (from the Reiss family)
This was the best episode in all of the show not just anime. The build up to the transformation. Eren waiting for them to confirm war upon paradise to attack....ooh perfect.
Hearing Atˈæk 0N Tάɪtn play in a theatre full of people from all over the world is the large scale equivalent of hearing the Rains of Castamere played in a wedding banquet.
Eren just said: "Oh you guys want war? I will give you war" It's like Eren wanted to hear what Willy had to say and his decision will depend on that And just to help you remember, the titan transformstion needs 3 conditions: 1- You have to be completly healed, if you miss a single finger you can't transform until it regenerates, if you remember Hannes died because Eren couldn't transform because he didn't completly heal himself. 2- You have to hurt yourself or suffer damage of some sort, the fastest thay every holder of one of the nine titans uses to transform is cutting their hands. 3- You need to transform at will, you can't transfrom by just hurting yourself.
Eren made his palm bleed to threaten Reiner to a conversation. Remember once he cuts himself he can transform at will at any point and Reiner doesn't want Falco to get caught up in it.
To be fair, the simple fact Eren and company have infiltrated the country for years in preparation to crumble it, only proves Willy’s point that Eren is a problem that they needed to stop.
if the Tybur family were not dumbfucks and had not allowed Marley to oppress eldians and had not allowed Marley to invade Paradise island. they wouldn't be in this situation
Willy was actually wrong. Eren's group infiltrated to gather information and see what it was like first, which is when they realized these people were similar. In fact, without spoiling, they never would've attacked if Willy hadn't declared war.
Yes as if they were not the ones fucking things up by sending the titans to Paradias and treating the eldians like trash... Eren is not doing this for fun
Holding Reiner's hand had nothing to do with anything except acknowledging that he has no choice and has to do what he has to do just like Riener had to do. It was to close the parallels they've been drawing between Eren and Reiner for the past 2 episodes. The cut on Erens's hand was to have something to hold against Reiner. Incase Reiner started something, he would be able to transform immediately instead of having to cut himself or bite his thumb off.
17:40 eren picked up reiner to parallel the scene in episode 3 this season when reiner picked him up and told him to move forward. he did it to show that that was the moment where he realized that they were the same since they both choose to move forward for their own reasons.
How is Colossal one of the 9 if we learned this episode there are multiple Colossal Titans? Like I thought one of the 9 had to be a unique type of Titan but apparently the walls are made of Colossal Titans.
I enjoy there reaction especially Navi she especially seems to catch a lot especially the thing with Pieck probably passing a message to that group. This is a very sad story..I feel for both Eren and Reiner both doing the same thing to protect there family and friends. The diplomatic approach it's an interesting question that's going to be explained further down the line.
Didnt see anyone talking about the Zeke part, 'Armin' separated him from the others (in my eyes-->) in a friendly way, from the other ep it makes obvious that Eren was in contact with Zeke but, whats going on between them, is he in or not, etc
I started watching it when it came out in 2013 (I was still a kid at the time) and I'm alive to see this Masterpiece being adapted for animation to this day, which is an extremely heavy and complicated story to deal with that has no cliché elements. that I would instantly guarantee a profit from all the massive majority of series and anime that comes every year, is undoubtedly a privilege that I will carry for the rest of my life ...
Like, the Royal family just seemed to believe that they could never make up for all of their sins that they did to masses of people, and if this was their end, then so be it. But then you got folk like Eren saying "do I not matter? do my friend's lives not matter? should it just end because the rest of the world fears our existence?!" And they gonna want to act like the victims of this attack, even though they all just gave an applause in agreement of full blown attacking this island of people who's been tormented by Titan's for a century. Like nah, y'all going down!
I think the main reason Eren repeats "I am the same as you" to Reiner is because Eren also thinks that he is in a situation where he can't do anything but fight, even if it means killing innocents. If his enemy is the entire world he would kill the entire world whether it is filled with either "good" or "bad" people. The fact that Eren is showing himself so detached (I can´t find any other word to describe him) to his feelings demonstrates that he understands Reiner and that he couldn't do anything but destroy the wall, destroy the civilization inside the walls, destroy "Eren's world". So now Eren is willing to do the same atrocities not out of revenge or strong feelings, but because he thinks that it is something he needs to do so he can save HIS world, the island, from his enemies.
"keep moving forward" pretty much as Reiner he will keep going no matter how many innocent or kind people are on the way, until the enemy is gone, for survival not for hated. Its really sad since both sides are legitimately trying to genocide each other for the fear or the threat the other opposes by existing. In this setting there is no options between a cold war or one side being completely destroyed.
I don't think Willy said a single lie. Eren even said he was right and for that day HE IS the bad guy. Its wishful thinking to say that the titans were originally good.
@@Cloneman-ic9rx Both Marley and Eldia have bent and twisted the truth in their favor, and Willy leaves out the fact that Eren only became possible BECAUSE of the actions of the Warrior Unit.
Willy did not only basically made the argument to fight the nation that has the closest thing to a nuke, he also convinced the people that it was a good and reasonable thing to do
