He only played 5 real seasons... but Brandon Roy was one of the promising players we've seen enter the NBA. From his perimeter game, to finishing at the rim, to his athleticism--Roy was incredible, and only a small amount of NBA fans proportionally truly knew it. It's time to show everyone else!

Lakers guard Kobe Bryant was asked on the John Thompson Show who he feels is the toughest opponent to guard in the NBA. Instead of picking Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant, Bryant went with Portland’s Brandon Roy. "Roy 365 days, seven days a week. Roy has no weaknesses in his game," Bryant said. Real recognize real.

Ron Artest said essentially the same thing. He was asked in April 29, 2009 on TNT right before game 6 of the first round playoff series by the late and great Craig Sager about his difficulties guarding Brandon Roy who had just lit him up for 42 points. He then said with a very straight face that Brandon Roy was the best player he ever played against. He then quickly qualified that Roy wasn't great on defense, but was speaking offensively. Craig looked at him disbelievingly and asked better than Kobe or LeBron? At which Ron Artest said again without stuttering that Brandon Roy is the greatest player he ever played against. Craig was either being obtuse or obnoxious because he asked him yet again if he only said that because he just got lit up recently and Ron repeated yet again that Roy was the best player he ever played against. He then mentioned a kid he grew up with in his hood that was the greatest player he ever played against, but he got in trouble and went to jail and never played pro ball. But after that guy, it was Brandon Roy that was the best player he ever played against (a fourth time for extra emphasis). Game recognizes game...

Hell yes to this vid. Roy in his young prime was next up to be the premiere SG after Kobe and Wade. A damn shame his body betrayed him. We as fans were robbed to witness the carnage he could have unleashed with LaMarcus in the early 2010s.

I think it was a toss up between Roy and Wade after Kobe.
@heejyfbaby8590
@heejyfbaby8590 4 года назад
People forget that one of the most defining traits of Roy's game was that he was the strongest player in the league at his position. Dude was basically the LeBron of SGs in terms of working his way through contact and absorbing blows at the rim. This was a big part of why Kobe said he was tough to guard, and honestly I think strength is the most underrated athletic trait
