Brandon Roy used to be one of the brightest young stars in the NBA. He came into the league and contributed right away to a Blazers team that really needed him. Unfortunately, as the years went by....things didn't go as planned.
I make all kinds of NBA videos which include trivia, analysis, player stories, countdowns, conspiracies, and mysteries. Make sure to leave a like and subscribe if you enjoyed this video!

You missed one very important part of the blazers bad luck. Having the soviets keep Sabonis from playing with the blazers til he was old. If the blazers got sabonis when they drafted him, the blazers would have had PRIME SABONIS on the early 90's blazers teams that already went to the finals twice. The 90's could have easily been blazers era. Awful luck.

From what we saw i think he could have been a top 5 center all time, he tore both of his Achilles by the time he came to the nba and he still was great for the blazers. Kobe ruptured one of his and his career was over. Its the worst injury and after having it twice he was still great. I dont want to imagine a prime sabonis

That's what happens when you rely on your athleticism too much and not learn fundamentals and learn to shot with arms not legs 60% of the time cuz how good Penny, Hill and Rose was they was very explosive going to the rim which puts lots of stress on your legs over years. Roy was fundamentally sounded but he had arthritis in his knees since high school it got worse over the years and it caught up to him when he got to the NBA, just lucky to see him tear it up for the 5 years he was playing.

Roy and Oden stayed healthy with LMA the Blazers would have been dynasty lasting at least a decade, winning 2, 3, 4 or more rings, reaching their most dominant level when they all simultaneously reached their primes. It's scary to think about how good they would have been considering the fact they were 52-10 when all playing together as young 1st/2nd to 3rd/4th year players, imagine how good they would have been a few years latter as they all continue to get better and better.

Do you expect a negative Nancy to say something positive? Apparently worst luck in history means you only won one championship, and have made the playoffs in 75% of the 50 years the franchise has existed, picked multiple stars out of the draft. Teams with no championships, far less playoff appearances and consistently shitty rosters are far more lucky. This is the problem with RU-vid, any dipshit can start making videos and get views by piggybacking off of brands, trademarks, copyright, ect. Doesn't matter if you're a genius or a complete imbecile.

In 2010 Kobe was asked who was harder to guard, Kevin Durant or Brandon Roy. Kobe's response: "Roy. 365 days. 7 days a week. Roy has no weaknesses in his game." Now we know KD was in only his 2nd season in 2010 but that is very lofty praise from one of the greatest, fiercest competitors in the game. Basketball fans have missed out and basketball history is missing some special moments because of the injuries to Brandon Roy, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Amare Stoudemire. Just like this. But he worked hard instead. He had perseverance. He adjusted his game by not relying heavily on athleticism anymore like he used too. the blazers are the most mundane good team ever..their always good but never title worthy...the 99 and 00 seasons summed up why this unlucky team is so funny to me..they lost in the west finals to 2 future dynasties and as those 2 teams went up they came down ...but the fact that they were even in the west finals is pretty shocking considering how they lost clyde just 4 years prior and usually it takes time to recover from that kind of loss...but instead they got rasheed sabonis damon smith and detlef and went the other way

The Blazers was by no means a BAD team. If you watched the 2008 Olympics Rudy Fernandez was a crucial part for the Spanish team that was actually a formidable opponent for the USA team led by LeBron Kobe and a myriad of top tier stars.

Roy Lillard Batum Aldridge Oden This team would of won a championship if injuries didn’t exist

Do you think they still could've gotten Lillard if Roy is healthy?

really tragic tho, his amazing potential really wasted, those injuries got to him and etc , i can still imaging him, Aldridge and a healthy Oden/Durant

Walton injured his foot and was never the same. Bowie had leg injuries and was eventually traded away. Sabonis barred from playing in the US during his prime due to tension between Russia and the US. Oden talented but injuries prevented him from reaching his potential. Roy forced to retire early due to arthritis in his knees. Nurkic breaks his leg during his statistically best season of his career on A blazers team that has the deepest bench in the west and was looking to fight its way to the conference finals. CJ Mcullom injures his knee against the spurs and misses ten games. He is back now but he looks rusty and I don't think he will be dropping 22 points per game in the playoffs. Is this team cursed or what?
