I absolutely love Dr. Grande's knowledge of cars and understanding of firearms. It's such important information in assessing the veracity of a person's story. Does a gun just "go off?" What's the difference in trigger pressure between single- and double-action?
@didamnesia3575
@didamnesia3575 Год назад
@@christopherg9806 guns do not just go off unless there's a serious malfunction (part breaks) which would be obvious in an examination. Extremely rare. Extremely rare. Single action with hammer back might require between 2-4lbs of pressure. Very light and no movement rearward before firing. In double action it requires a much longer trigger pull and between 6-12lbs. Basically in double action it is only through purposely pulling the trigger can it go off. If it is in single action you could make an argument for a negligent oops. But then the hammer has to be back. In a covered hammer revolver it can only be fired in double action, meaning the trigger pull cocks then hammer and releases it, it usually requires 8lbs of force. And it is long but smooth. Long is relative of course. Handguns have a longer trigger pull than a rifle or shotgun.

Shooting a 38 special from a snubby, through a car seat, in front of a witness, is a VERY poor plan for a successful murder. As always, Dr. Grande, I appreciate your understanding of firearms in explaining the event. Many in the media are completely ignorant of these details and believe guns just "go off" on their own. Also, everybody knows the sound of power door locks and I believe the "clicking" the driver heard was Tex cocking the hammer. I suspect did this on purpose, but definitely not beyond a reasonable doubt. Your theory on his motive aligns with the conclusion I came to as the video progressed. It would be interesting to know if Tex had anything more than a friendship with the woman driving, as she would make the perfect alibi to this "accident." "Kill her in the kitchen and calling it a baking accident," made me laugh out loud. The kind of observation Bob Newhart might make.

One of my dad's coworkers when I was a kid was also shot in the back in an SUV during a hunting trip. He survived but was paralyzed and it was confirmed to be an accident. please check your guns often, clean them and make sure you have the safety on. When keeping it in a vehicle, don't put it in places that could cause risk to others. It's heartbreaking and a harsh reality.

One of the things that stood out to me was the area this occurred in. While it's not the nicest part of Atlanta it's far from the worst either. Certainly not so terrible that most people would feel like they needed to have a gun at the ready. Personally I think he was looking for a reason to grab the gun. Won't speculate on why exactly he was looking to kill his wife but I think he was looking for it...

Hi Doctor Grande Can you do an analysis of Vince McMahon?
@angelatheriault8855
@angelatheriault8855 Год назад
Was Tex drunk? If he was inebriated and disoriented an accident seems more likely. If you wanted your wife dead, killing her in front of an eyewitness seems incredibly stupid.
@vladimirputindreadlockrast812
Somehow the case for murder remains unconvincing to me. In fact, I can imagine the plausibility of everything right up until Diane giving him his gun in a dangerous neighborhood, to Tex falling asleep with a gun in his lap. If he was startled awake, I can even imagine that he would have pulled the trigger, perhaps not realizing he was pointing the gun at his wife. And, unless Diane's best friend, the driver, was in on it, the circumstances appear unfavorable to a planned killing.

So glad I live in Canada. There is no need to keep a loaded gun in your ride or in the home. Occasionally we get some spectacular crimes but over all, crime is substantially lower in Canada due to a number of factors social factors.
