South Africa has been rocked by widespread unrest since the beginning of July. On the one hand, this unrest has involved unconscionable violence and destruction. On the other, it has revealed a growing desperation taking hold over the nation. I sat down with uGogo Aubrey Matshiqi to analyse the origins of this unrest, and the short term and long term solutions for the country's current crisis. This is Part 1 of a two part series. Part 2 will be released on 15 July 2021.
Please note: this conversation was held on Tuesday 13 July and this is an unfolding situation.
