Very true. I love Carrie's "hi" and the odd pregnant air before the babysitter speaks. Her warmth next to Fred's suspicious glare at the door is comedy gold.
ONE MOORE EPISODE is a great, well... EPISODE lol, but that whole BATTLESTAR GALACTICA thing is soooo much more pertinent now in the world of streaming, and that episode was almost 11 years to the day of this comment (Jan 2022), but the table read, when Edward James Olmos goes 'I NEED YOU IN HERE, YOU HEAR ME? NOW GET OUTTA HERE!--' What?" totally confused and disgusted at the stupidity of that line... Ps--- the funny thing is that BATTLESTAR GALACTICA IS actually an AMAZING show.. I could NOT BELIEVE how hooked I was right away, and how much I loved that show when I FINALLY gave in to everyone telling me its an awesome show and i should watch it.... as a matter of fact, I haven't watched that show in like 15 years, and it ISSSSSS on Peacock, which I have... hmmm... 😆)
As soon as I found out she was from Delaware it all made sense. I was born and lived most of my life super close to where she did, and so many of us from around there are like this. Deadpan, blunt, mildly sarcastic but not maliciously.
My mom and I have an ongoing inside joke where we often utilize the essence of the 'counter scene gag' from this skit whenever we're telling/showing each other how to do something ... it makes us laugh every time!! 😄🙌🏼
Just an observation: I'm pretty sure a comment like yours could only ever come from someone who uses the grammatically correct phrasing "My mom and I". I bet your mom is as much of a grammar Nazi as mine is. 😄
Same! Only we reference this skit when explaining the only possible way that a strange facial or head injury could've occurred. Like, recently the baby fell and got a scratch under his nose. When my MIL asked how he could've gotten scratched there my husband and I, thinking the same thing, reenacted the counter scene simultaneously and then we started laughing hysterically. She thought we were crazy 🤣🤣 Even funnier, the baby's name is Bryce and I just realized Fred is called Bryce in this skit!

Same. I remember seeing a commercial for this show debuting and said "ah... I'll set my tivo, I give it a shot..." So glad I did, cuz not only was I instantly a fan, but THIS counter scene, had me doing those I CANT BREATHE laughs, end of the short season one...from this moment on, made sure I caught every episode, FIRST thing I watched late night/next morning if I was out when new episodes came on...
This is eerily similar to a couple I used to house sit for. Although they had a dog and a whole closet of food for him and they never left any food for me.
I think I just found the inspo for the funniest part of this skit that I laughed at some many times...that cactus in the eyes kitchen scene. I was just watching Bob Newhart and in Season 5 Episode 19, Howard does something so similar at around 14 minutes in, that I feel nearly sure that Fred saw that at some point and inspired this scene. I guess there's nothing new under the sun lol. Still Fred's version is much funnier.

@@leob4403 No, I'm sorry. I hate the filth of those shows (especially F.G.) I like comedy where people aren't afraid to make themselves look ugly & weird, minus the CONSTANT sexual innuendo. That's just not my thing. And Portlandia has some of that, but I just skip over those parts. I've been watching those old "Andy Griffith" shows & wish I could transport myself to that "world." That's how much I hate the filth of today 😢
How do I not remember this skit? I was obsessed with Aubrey Plaza for a while and loved this show, how did I not know it existed? I own all the seasons!
Its fun to see the different couples Fred & Carrie play. Dave & Kath are the active types, self-serious, compulsive, really annoying. Peter & Nance are a little simple, yet they enjoy each other the most. Bryce & Lisa are stylish accessories to each other's empty existence. Vince & Jacqueline are, simply put, The Weirdos. Which is funny because it implies the other couples are not weird at all.
OMG! I'm back here again because I desperately needed a hearty belly laugh at some inane type humor. My two new fav parts are when Fred needs to explain why he's opening door (cause surely she can't fit through that little wrought iron covered peep-hole) and that, at the end of tour, Carrie doesn't seem to want Audrey to get out of the tub just yet. So relieved I'm not alone in finding this kind of stuff entertaining as hell!
