The 3 of us decided on this roof-mounted 2001 for the 1pm test. It is located on top of Varner Hall on the campus of Oakland University and is just a couple hundred feet from the township line separating Auburn Hills from Rochester Hills. FSK dropped pretty much right on the dot, and we were surprised to see it do 4RPM. For my first successful Michigan test, I was rather satisfied. Before this, we went to Clinton Twp thinking they tested at noon instead of 1. Oops.
Oakland County tests its gargantuan system of almost 300 sirens on the first Saturday at 1pm March-November and for the statewide tornado drill, which will occur later this month on the 20th.

That shot is killer. And 4 RPM too… nice.

Clinton Twp’s Whelens are unfortunately all gone but some Whelens still remain around the County. The majority of the southeastern portion of the state like around the Detroit and Detroit Metro area are tested on the First Saturday at 1:00 PM I should mention now that theres a video of this one, another 2001-SRN can be found with a higher RPM speed in Grand Blanc, in Genesee County. Enjoyed the video as always.
