AUCKLAND NEW ZEALAND January 29, 2015. Auckland International Airport launched a major upgrade to its marine rescue fleet today. An additional Griffon 2000TD hovercraft, has been added to the fleet.

It already would have been needed in Oslo, 1972, Washington National/Potomac in 1981 and many other cases!

SB, yes, not very fast but the ability to go over the mud is it’s greatest feature. Mike - AirflowNZ

+Harry L Hi Harry - Auckland Airport is surrounded on three sides by tidal mudflats. A rescue HC is the only craft able to assist when the tide is out. regards, Mike - AirflowNZ
