Hello! I have the 6speed FWD gearbox, code GEA from BEX engine. I have a whine in 4th, 5th, 6th gears and when cold its hard to put it in 2nd gear. Do you have any idea what the problem is? Maybe the clutch is done and thats why it gets hard into 2nd, but the whine? Could it be a broken bearing? thank you!

I need your help. I've got the same box. Shifted into 3rd without damaging it. Now it just pops out of 3rd only under load. What could it be?

Oh yeah, this spicy unit is going straight into the race car. I will go over the setup in more detail in a future video. I ran this 6 speed in the car by simply swapping the 5 speed linkage, mounting brackets and slave to make it all work. In order for me to use the jhm B5 solid linkage I had to change the shifter. But you can't use the B5 because the stabilizer rod is totally different. So my plan was to order a Coolerworx shifter for a Audi 100 but for a 6 speed instead of 5 speed. The shifter deletes the stabilizer rod so that solves that issue. So in theory I have a shifter that will now bolt directly to my car and use the B5 upgraded linkage to shift the B5 upgraded trans in my C4 S4 :)

Thank you for the clarification @@quattro4life20vt. I loved the JHM Trio on my B5S4 and have wanted to have that on C4. I've driven the Coolerworx setup and prefer the stock style setup... I found My shifts were faster and more direct. So I'll continue to search for the 034/Apikol combo for C4

Not really, as long as it goes into first and second without issue you should be good. 90k is pretty low these days so it's probably not too bad. In my opinion the decision to make this repair is based on driving habits. If you drive "normal" most of these transmissions will never see this issue. In good condition you can usually shift them hard for a while but then one day it just starts getting more stiff and harder to engage gears. Then eventually it won't even go in that gear at all. If you know that you are gonna beat the shit out of it everytime you drive it then I would just get this upgrade out of the way. But this is just advice, you do you. P.S. while that transmission is out of the car I highly suggest installing the JHM short throw and solid linkage upgrade into your B5. It is 100% worth the money and makes the drive much more enjoyable ;) Good luck!

I personally think this is a simple upgrade that remedies the issues these transmissions have from the factory. All the shafts and gears are still factory original. Maybe not built, but surely it is upgraded and it is definitely a huge difference in reliability especially if you are slamming first to second gear. Thanks for watching!
