Very good video!!!! How many oil filling holes does the fully assembled transmission have? Does the front differential oil share with the gearbox oil?

Nice work. My trick to get the 8:38 bolt out is to put the tranny on the ground and lag bolt the bell housing to my 10 ft. wood bench in the garage (pick a side whether tightening or loosening it). Works all the time. :)

Usually you'll have galling/pitting on the input shaft 1st gear.... I've pulled three 01Es I bought cheaply and two of them had this issue. One of them also had cracked teeth on the 1st output side like yours. Tell tale sign is the dreaded 'clicking' when rolling in 1st gear.

Amazing vid buddy. I think its odd this gearbox failed. Knew a guy with a 750hp urs4 that did over 50 hard launches at the track and it held up fine. This gearbox is built like a tank.

That was cool to watch.. I would never attempt it though lol. In saying that i did manage to change the clutch myself in my c4 s4 avant on the carport floor with the car on axle stands and using two trolley jacks and good balance to get the g/box out and back in. Mine is a 6spd car with the weak first gear also, its getting quite noisy now. So im looking for a b5 6spd box. In the mean time the vented wastegate makes it hard to hear how bad 1st gear is lol.

My Selector shaft won’t engage any gear at all! 7:38 Like when u took it out it! should it be able to push in so I could shift into reverse when fully together? I haven’t took it out the car yet but I’ve been looking at my spare 4.37 Allroad 01e trans to compare what’s moving and what’s not! Am I on right path?

Do only B5 S4 have stronger 1 gear? So all C4 01Es have weaker first gear? TDIQ 6speed, S6 6speed, S4 5speed, etc? I was just wonderibg since ny S4 engine is coning out and I have a C4 TDIQ 6speed laying around. I have a 5speed on ny URS4, code is CET.

Are the internals the same / similar to the 968 gearbox?

hello,i have one dilema. i have the exact same gearbox manual 6 speed on my urs4 AAN , i disconected the fluid line from the clutch master cylinder because the engine was taken down along with the gearbox(they were not separated from eachother), so i have no clutch pedal at all. my question is this basically, a gearbox that doesnt have any oil on the clutch lines(no clutch pedal), will it engage reverse?? or i need to get my clutch running first?im trying to set my gearbox linkage but i have no clutch and , 1 to 6 works but reverse wont engage. do i need to fix my clutch first befor setting up the gearbox linkage? i apreciate it
