Powder Coating Procedure
- Strip parts of excess fasteners etc
- Degrease and clean
- File down casting parting lines
- Oven preheat cycle for cast Aluminum - 420C for ~20 minutes
- Light sand (~120 grit) to smooth surfaces
- Degrease and clean… again
- Mask threaded holes and gasket / o-ring surfaces
- Shoot the powder
- Oven cure - Temp/Time depends on powder used
- Cool parts
- Remove making
- Enjoy

Looks awesome I recently just painted my valve covers and manifold wishing I would of powered coated them those turned out great

I just did the same thing in different ways, did you just put in some phosphate rock? I then paint them for my own, and I took advantage of polishing the intake ducts, otherwise very nice exterior result for the manifold.

Phosphate rock? I didn’t do anything internally to the intake. For the valve covers I used a specific wrinkle red powder from Prismatic Powders.

I own a 2003 Audi A6 C5 2.7T with the BEL engine, featuring valve covers equipped with pop-out coil packs. I'm considering replacing these with bolt-down valve covers, typically associated with the APB engine. Can I interchange these valve covers between the BEL and APB engines?
