Hello guys!
#AlexTheGrumpyOne here with another video for you :)
This is Episode 4 on Audi A3 2.0 tdi project. In this episode I have replaced the gearbox, flywheel and clutch kit. The noisy 4th and 6th gears problem is gone now :)
All the specs are in the video, but I will also list it here soon!

I always thought you can use a flywheel dmf if there are no burn spots, the surface is flat and minimal movement. My flywheel has movement of 3teeth. I used the same one, however everyone was telling me your not supposed to🤷. Even the shop said warranty on new clutch is void if not purchased with new flywheel. My CSC failed and just decided to fit a new clutch in as previous owner used to ride the clutch causing it to wear quicker. Thx for video

Yeah it depends on the companies and policy. But usually in normal garage you don't get ripped off. Audi was going to charge an Audi tt quattro £6000 for a clutch kit and flywheel.... I've done the job a few days ago and trust me it saved them a lot of money haha

Great video, easy to follow and a bonus you’ve added the torque settings 👍I’ve got to do this job on a Q3, do you have to drain the gearbox oil before removing the driveshafts? Thanks.

Thank you very much! I'm glad that you find it helpful. Funny enough I have just bought myself a Q3 😀 Yep I would definitely drain it. I thin on q3 you have to drop the subframe due to being 4x4

@AlexTheGrumpyOne OK thank you I'm trying to find out if a replacement LVN code would be compatible with a current FVH box. Then I'll use your video replace. I've only done subaru 5 and 6 speed and a suzuki alto box in my life.

@@AlexTheGrumpyOne it would be cool to see how to replace a head gasket on my car and machine the surfaces so there’s a good seal, but I’m not sure you can since it’s not very practical. But if you have the tools I’d love to see it!

Hi Alex, please i want to know if slave cylinder of the clutch in yhis gearbox is external or is inside yhe gearbox. I have the exact gearbox in my 2012 a3, but i am not sure if the slave cylinder is inside the gearbox or not.

I just bought an a3 2.0l 2005 automatic only 89,000kms.. the previous owner got the transmission replaced..cost her $4000 New Zealand dollars...on the notes it said "transmission was shuddering & banging at operating temperature. Faulty valve body assembly."....this car was in japan from 2005 till 2020. My question is why would the transmission need to be replaced with so little kms??? Doesnt seem likely...??

probably because it wasn't serviced and oil never been changed. Or it has and lost oil and been driven dry. Or maybe it was just flywheel that was an issue

Was there a pilot bearing installed on this one? If so, does the input shaft fits inside the bearing or sits on it? 23:11

It is possible that the wiring has broken on one of the plugs. What my video on powersteering fault.

Hi. I have a flapping noise when going into 4th and 6th gear as well, but no noise on idle. All other gears seems fine. Do you think this would be a clutch flywheel or gearbox issue. Thanks. Video is ace.

Hi there. I would check the gearbox oil level first bud. Then adjust gears, if doesn't help I would say it'd the gearbox issue

@@AlexTheGrumpyOne Thanks for the quick response mate. Car is in the garage on Wednesday. Looking at round black end cap on the gearbox looks like it has been leaking for a while.

Oh ok. Well make sure they check oil first and fill it up and then check it before any repairs

Hi Alex, ended up being the gearbox. Ended up getting one from a Doner car and all is well. Although now i have a bit of whilsting going on. More noticable in higher gears on low revs. Perhaps one of the hoses was knocked a bit when they took the gearbox out.

I have no drive in any gears. Rac bloke said the flywheel has gone . Would that be right

Well don't know about the flywheel. But probably clutch for sure. Does the clutch pedal feel OK? Resistance in it?

@@AlexTheGrumpyOne yes the clutch pedal feels as it was and you feels like it’s going into gear with gearstick , just no drive. It was juddering in reverse and then started getting difficult to get into first gear. Was driving along and lost drive .

Yeah I would say it needs a clutch definitely and then checking fly wheel to see if it's gone as well
