Recently bought one of these after watching this review and test driving one. Coming from a F30 320d which was a great car in its own right, I absolutely adore my A6 BITDI 😍. The perfect balance of doing the everyday stuff with ease, but when the mood takes you puts a massive smile on your face like no 2.0 diesel ever will 😊
Your grin sold it to me, i had ordered new 2 litre tdi £41k , cancelled it and got A6 all road 3 ltr bi turbo for £1k less 1 year old low miles, proper quick and sounds meaty. Thanks.
Hi Bob, watched this video over and over. A S line avant came up for sale in a main dealer in Dublin a few weeks ago, 30 clicks on clock,- 2012. Bought it without seeing it!!! What a machine. Attracts a bit of attention, on 20's rotars. Boy racers seem to think they can teach me a lesson but I'm the one dishing out the honours maths...650 nm....fear my torque. Exhaust sounds amazing, 1400 rpm at 120 Kmh is also Impressive. Only down side is the official mpg is a work of fiction.

I've had my A6 BiTurbo since March now, and I agree with everything you say about the car. It is lots of fun to drive. I love that nobody knows what's under the bonnet until you race away from them as they attempt to overtake you. Very fuel efficient for what it is. My only gripe is that the C7 is ever so slightly smaller and tighter than the C6, that or I'm getting bigger!

I thought your 3 fav cars are VW California and RR ..like you say almost on every car review: "This is my top-lottery-list car!" :D 640d seems to do very similar task as this, tho' I haven't driven so I don't know.. Sad knowing about your mom.. I'm in thoughts with you, Bob :(
Excellent video as usual Bob. I have to say, an avant with the same engine would be my bag. 18 inch alloys. I recently disposed of an sline avant a4 and the ride was simply terribly. How does this ride the bumps? I know the UK press always favour the 5 series, but is this as good for handling involvement. But, going back, my concern would be the ride quality. On 20 inch wheels, is it poor?
Really cool review. What do you think, 535d or 3L bi-tdi?! In terms of looks i prefer the Audi, but the inline six with RWD is just awesome. Fun vs Efficiency?!
Sit at traffic lights and everyone just thinks your driving an ordinary A6, wow! its a very pretty looking A6 then BOOOOOOOOOMMMMM your gone up the road like speedy gonzales!!! Hahahahahaha very good...great review! My dream car!
Hi Bob, You say in the video that you'd have it in "this" spec but I'm not sure you explain what the spec is? It looks like an S-Line maybe, but what options are on it? I'm thinking of getting one of these primarily based on this review!
The twin rear pipes might be a give away that its not a normal TDI quattro. The S4 Avant looks the better deal or the A6 allroad. A little too understated considering the likely price.
@ Bob Flavin i had an opportunity to test drive the Bi Turbo and what a machine amazing from within and out and that engine type is 10/10! Just had a wonder what would it be like with 4.2 TDI used in new and updated Audi A8! :)
The California is right in there too but it's not a car so I didn't include it in the list. The 640 is just a cut above with a lot more show but no more go
Is there any acceleration lag on this car?,i dont mean turbo lag i mean through the auto box.i drove the 3.tdi 204 engine in an a5 and the lag was terrible,even using the paddle shift to drop it into the 3k rev range it wouldnt pick up straight away like a manual does
i can't make up my mind to either go for bmw 535d or audi bi turbo i have checked every review on google and youtube and i like the sound of the audi bi exhaust sounds and big factor its got 4x4 great for going camping ⛺️ i have to test drive both cars in naas and see which ones i like
Hmm. I might have to disagree with Bob here about the A6 Biturbo vs the GS450h F-Sport. So far, real life 0-100km/h and 0-200km/h runs between the two are very close. The A6 might be more stable on the highway at illegal speeds but I suspect the GS450h F-Sport has the measure of the A6 when it comes to the twisties. Ergo : the A6 is a supreme autobahn straightline stormer but the GS is the more nimble car by virtue of its rear wheel drive and rear wheel steering. And the A6 being a front heavy car due to most of its engine mass being in front of the front wheels.
Don’t get me wrong I love The Verve and all of their music they are one of the few bands that I love every single soundtrack they ever done but in this video I just want to listen to that BiTDi roar without music.

Gearboxes on these are insane, same gearbox as the RS6, they pretty much never break. Chain I don’t know about though, I owned a 245bhp A6, gearbox broke and I had to let it go, my father owns the 313bhp one. Never had an issue and he’s put 80 000km on it by now. Crazy car
Another trick they have missed is only allowing a dark black interior... Much nicer is the brown or cream leather.... Dont know why they have restricted the interior colour to any colour as long as its black..
