Higher Audi Weight. Nothing More. Subaru AWD was perfectly functional but could not generate adequate grip. Both AWD systems are good and again it was just weight advantage.

And this time it was the weight of the Audi (and the tires contribution; this factor is unknown here and could be detrimental for both cars (depending which car was equipped with worse tires). Again, the Subaru AWD system worked perfectly well, distributing the power as it should. The Subaru AWD systems are generally great in doing this (but not equal, depending on the sophistication, open differentials against SLD etc. ). Audi AWD is also very good but not in all conditions (and so much different between the models...Haldex, mechanical Quatro, S-Quattro...like a Haldex...long discussion). This time it was not "Audi power". But nobody with a common sense thinks that Subaru are generally more powerful cars than Audis...just opposite. Cheers.
Hey all, both cars have good traction and a lot of power. But this comparison is not equal. Forester 1.4 ton allroad 1.8 ton. Forester 2000cc allroad 2700cc. Forester has Lsd for rear diff. and open type for front differantial. Forester also has centre viscous F/50-R/50 by default.Allroad has fourth generation quattro System.Meaning, torsen type one center differential, F50/R50 split in normal conditions, automatically locking with up to 80% of torque transfer to either axle. Allroad has Edl System but Forester has not. You have to test with 2500cc xt, against same allroad.2.5xt has Vdc It's same like Edl. Finally, i suggest easy off road test, drag-roll race and roller test with these monsters. Note: Edl (electronic diffrerential lock) Vdc (vehicle dynamic control).
It's not a fair fight. If we took my A4 1.9TDi now and pitched it against the Forester we'd have a fair fight. I love my Audi and have absolute belief in them. There are a LOT of fake 4WDs, which though labelled and sold as 4WD, they just....are not. But Subaru isn't one of them. Subaru also has a FINE fine system, and I don't appreciate a video trying to make another good car look like one of the other wannabes. Subaru make fine cars, and an equally good 4WD system from what I can see. Which is the better system, Audi or Subaru, I don't know, and don't really want to. It's just a dumb 'fight' really. In a world full of phonies, they are both EXCELLENT and neither should ever be made to look anything other than the quality they are.
Right off the bat the Audi outweighs the Subaru hence the Subaru just sliding with locked tires. Bad comparison, besides I'll still take a Subaru because the operating costs are cheaper than an Audi.
yea this is a straight up weight pull , with several hundred pounds of extra weight the audi simply has more traction. not really a fair test in any way
That type of game only compares the weight of both cars that are towed against each other in opposite directions, and perhaps a little too the tires. Never the respective tractions of each one.
Iulian Olteanu no it does not. It has a 2.7 liter twin turbo gasoline v6. But the turbos are k03 Borg Warner which are very tiny and allow them to spool at 2000 RPM and give an instant torque shove similar to a diesel.
In this case as in any similar case engine doesn't matter, 4 WD system doesn't matter, what matters is weight because that's what gives traction on hard surface when you stationary. Load that Subaru with some heavy shit and it will pull Audi or brake something because snapped axle, cv joint or busted clutch i very common result of such tests.
ardvark84 disagree traction and displacement is the biggest factor. If you have the power too turn your tires/ wheels and the right tires, it’s game over. That little Hillary Clinton Subaru had no chance. Lol

this video is stupid! what are the engine specs? as one user pointed out, 2,7 Biturbo with ca 230HP stock vs 2.0 137 or 158HP N/A. One thing I will guarantee you, put that Audi in very bad road conditions or try a hill climb and it will cry like a little baby while the Subaru will finish the mission and ask: "Was that all boss? This was easy"!
