While most Brits see the Range Rover Evoque as the most desirable mid-sized SUV on the market, nobody - not even Land Rover - is pretending it's the most practical option of the class. For those wanting more functionality, without trading too much on that high-end feeling, the Audi Q3 ranks top - although not for the reasons you might expect. The Audi Q3 starts from £35,055 new, although on cinch, models go from as little as £13,900, a reduction of over £20k. Whereas the Range Rover Evoque starts from over £40,000 new (and £12,900 on cinch). Admittedly, the Land Rover model does come with more standard kit than the Q3, but even when you compare like-for-like trim levels, the Q3 remains cheaper than its British rival.
Some of the difference can be explained with the plushness of the Evoque, which maintains a finish and appearance that does leave it feeling more premium than the well-made Q3. But when you consider usability, especially for a family, not to mention the wider selection of engines available, the Q3 looks like a great value offering. As Sam explains.
