Hells Gift MB it’s just got lovely curves and lines which have been edged off on the new car to make it look more aggressive. But I definitely am in preference of the sleek original design. It’s ageless it could have came out last week and it would fit in like a brand new car.
I think the R8 looked very very good when it was released and they made it even better over the years. To the point when I was disappointed to see the 2nd gen R8 next to the stunning looking R8 V10 plus or the R8 GT. These cars in the right colour just give you eyegasms...
Both cars look great, but for me, I'd take the original. The new one still looks great, but the original looks more 'timeless' to me, and I think it will age better. Having said that, I wouldn't say no to either! Great video, very well produced!
Definitely, she's awesome, still love these videos ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5PmB4WPZo3o.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nYNXDwTZ8y0.html
Kurt Phillips they’re attainable. Save up. You’ll need very minimum 10% down to meet most loan requirements (exotic cars typically fall under slightly different loan tables), and everything after that is pretty peachy. Just plan for a PPI and BE PATIENT. Took me about a year to find mine, but I’m very glad I waited. Good luck on whatever car you want to get!
@@a.edw.160 thank you for your positive and motivating message. I would like to say I would try to get a car I would love in that price range, but a lot of things in life isn't going well for me at the moment. I appreciate the advice though if things ever turn around.
Kurt Phillips I was there once too, and not too terribly long ago. I’m hoping things turn around for you soon. Best of luck, and prayers went your way.
@@trihardcx6743 R8, practical? I heard of Corvette or Viper owners who can daily their sports car with almost no problems, but the R8 barely has any place for luggage over the Gallardo/Huracan.
hmmm difficult. Chris would steal off most of Vicki`s "driving skills". Why not Randy Pobst? Hes also a better driver than Vicky, but would fit in as a sweet, chilled out veteran- character.
Why do so called car journalists always touch the glass on the coupes? 1:46 I hate when people do that so damn much there is no point! Just touch the door where it won't leave nasty fingerprints and where it is rigid! This bothers me so much it is just not acceptable from someone who should know better.
The wave with making cars look so sharp and angled is getting really old. Especially when late 90s-2010 cars look significantly more appealing with smooth contours and transitions. Everything flows into each other. New cars are the design equivalent of sticker bombing a inanimate object. Original r8 is much more visually appealing, and easy on the eyes. It actually looks more futuristic to me, while the new R8 looks like a glorified hot wheels car. Comparisons like this are my sole reason for owning nothing beyond 2012. I like to own a car with history. They are SOME manufacturers though that have made their new cars look better and I would consider.
It is like a 90s NSX ...even your Nan could drive it...but I think all that clonking on the 'gate' for the gear lever on a long trip would get on my tits
Abderrahmane Bouhjar Um.... check your facts first... Google is your friend and so is RU-vid for that matter. Plenty of videos showing V10 Manual R8s. Also I just checked Auto Trader - in Canada - and there is at least 4 for sale when I checked. So yep, they exist...
If I was going to pick one car as a daily car that also must be a sports car, this would be it. The R8 is an amazing car that doesn't ever seem to disappoint the journalist that reviews it. Personally knowing that I could get an older one with a manual that's where I will be looking first now. Thank you for sharing this info about these cars.
The original R8 was the first car that I ever fell in love with when it came out in 2006 and whenever some ask me my three-car garage it is still always my number one. It is hard to improve perfection.
Great cars, great presenters, great cinematography - this is my go to channel. Thank you another epic upload! Very happy to see Vicki on the team; hope she'll be a regular on the show.
Unfortunately most new drivers now don't understand manuals and just want to get a licence as quickly as possible and the extra work of a manual doesn't add up. I would like to make a video explaining the benefits of a manual.
O the "eargasm" of a V10 engine! What will we do once everything becomes electric? Boring! Great review and comparisons! You complimented each other well.
@Marc B. lol. That's a great sounding machine but as petrol heads we want to hear the rev our favorite engine with dying breath. "Rev that funky engine badboy!
@@Gandalf721 You are absolutely right. Replacing a manual? of course not! There'll be nothing "man" about vehicles going forward. I do, however, look forward to self driving cars and taking naps 😉
Dry sump is not the only difference to RS4, also dual air intake... Also 2006....? Nonsense, I left Audi in 2007 as an R8 specialist and the first cars hadn't been built then....Do some homework. The gearbox in the manual Gen1 R8 is phenomenal, but the B7 RS4 that the original engine came from remains hands down my favourite Audi to date.... It's incredible.
I could have gotten a manual V10.... but, I've driven manuals my entire life. I've had a great shifting manual car. I never had such a nice automanual like the s-tronic. Yes, i'm going to put bigger carbon paddles on it, but I chose the S-tronic on a 2014. I am now the "rebel" of the car enthusiasts because I wanted the s-tronic. lol
How can they say it isn’t a super car? Mid engine v8 under glass 0-60 in 4.6 secs 187 mph top speed Open gated shifter Grabs attention wherever it goes This is a super car all day long but it is a super car of the 2000s u can’t compare modern day super cars with old ones otherwise cars like Ferrari 355 360 430 all would now be classed as sports cars they r super cars of their time.
The first gen is Timeless. Although it's slower, it's a fraction of the price of the newer one. I say if you love the 1st gen, but want power. Buy the 4.2, add a twin turbo kit and treat V10s and V12s to Gapplebees because you only spent a portion of their so called "Super Cars".
The biggest mistake Audi did was ditch the manual. When I first drove the R8, I fell in love with it solely because of the gated manual transmission. Been my dream car ever sense!
I prefer the old one. Less expensive, makes the gear shifting a charm, shifts sounding like a bolt-action rifle, and has adequate performance for an NA engine!
Original will age better, modern one looks very good but when trends inevitably change it will start to look more and more outdated. Plus the manual shifts will always bring about better driving experience...and slower times
I don’t know what it is about the first gen V8 R8... but it just gives me such a good feeling when I look at it I remember seeing them when I was younger when they were new... ish was one of my dream cars even today I still love them
