The engine isn’t letting you use full rpm’s therefore it’s still cold An you’ve just did 170 in an rs6 which wasn’t even warmed up properly 😖

It was cold, if it's limited at 5k rpm it is, you can see at the end of the video it was limited at 7k rpm.

It wasn’t cold, the car was up to temp before the video started, look at the small gauge on the left bottom corner of the clusters, the white bars fill up just over halfway when the car is up to temperature.

Solomon Tetteh Nobody really wants those, those cars are absolutely uselesd during Britains 10 months of winter... so it will be as fast as a MX5 for 80% of the year. Amg cars are poster cars for 14yr olds who don't have to drive them...

When you launched it, the engine oil wasnt at operating temperature. Thats why it shifted early at 5k rpm (notice the red indicators at the rpm gauge). It could have done even better when properly warmed up ;)

Im a mechanical engineer in automotive industry. Saying i dont know a shit about cars is a bit daring :D That thing on the left is WATER temperature. Due to the construction of this engine in particular, water temperature raises way faster than oil temperature. But its the oil temperature which has to be above a certain level to prevent engine damage due insufficient lubrication. You even can see the rev limit change at 1:43.

waito tong car is still cold. the car limits its revs when its below 60 degree celsius oil temprature.... Sad that car reviewers destroy such beautiful cars with their behaviour.

that's because the engine was still cold and this is like a safety measure so you cannot screw the engine, it needs to be in running temp before you can really floor it.

The engine WASN'T cold. Stop saying it was. You can see at the start that it's at operating temperature. The low rev limiter is a protection system that makes sure of two things: That the engine oil is up to operating temp, and that it has enough time to circulate upon startup. Before BOTH of those criteria are met, the redline is lowered.

Nice video! Good example of how to ruin your turbos as quick as possible - floor it for good over 35 seconds and than turn it off right away... :D Well, you don't care, new cars, warranty and stuff... It had just been driving at full operating temp before filming and remained at that temperature when he then started it up again in the video. From startup to acceleration I counted around 40 seconds which is sufficient time for the already warm oil to circulate.

I agree. You can see the car isn’t ready for that as the tach is limiting the engine speed until he starts to slow down again. And just because the water is up to temp doesn’t mean the oil is as it usually takes significantly longer to warm up.

couple things wrong with your launch Car wasn't warm you can see that by the red dots on the rpm gauge Car wasn't in dynamic You suppose to have your foot on the brake and gas with the throttle full down, it will then rev to 4000 rpm and it wont let you go farther Your letting the car shift and when you shift your shifting early I know all this because i have a S6

My mate did that in his RS5 and the gear box/tranny had a 'catastrophic failure'. 36k on the clock! 2 weeks after the warranty- in fairness to AUDI, they replaced it free of charge. He was quoted £11k, before he complained. Amazing machines but complex.

The saddest thing is the E63 Estate has already pipped it. This shouldn't be the case when the RS6 Avant had always ruled the roads by quite some margin. Audi really has to do something about it.
