I bought a Taycan Turbo S two years ago for exactly this use case. I'm driving 150-200km on a mostly unrestricted Autobahn stretch multiple times per week, mostly early in the morning or late at night (switching from a 12cylinder ICE car). The Taycan gets driven flat out whenever safely possible and is abused quite a bit, but overheating or limiting the power is really really rare (of course mostly driving during the cooler times of the day). Great car and considering the conditions, the consumption is okay-ish. No reliability issues to this day (apart from some minor interior stuff). Interior material quality could be better for the price though. I also considered a Model S Plaid, but after testing it for two weeks, I definitely decided against it. Don't want to Tesla bash or something, absolutely great bang for the buck and of course the usual Tesla advantages. But suspension and brakes are not up to the level of performance that car delivers (or better, can deliver under the right circumstances..). You don't need to take a Model S Plaid on the track to get the car (its brakes and suspension) to its limits. I absolutely get that my use case is really rare and everyone has to decide if that's worth double the price (or more), but for me the continuous high level of performance output, great level of high speed stability/comfort, low noise level and great braking performance made it absolutely clear that it had to be a Taycan or e-tron GT (chose the Taycan for that 10 km/h higher top speed :P and mostly for more individualization options).

@@Alex-bl8uh Model 3 is great because it's practical (more spacious than Taycan/etron GT) and cheap, I bought two for less than the price of one Taycan. Model S isn't garbage but it's not cheap enough to be competitive, and it's not even sold in my country any more. It's a shame Tesla wasted so much time on the Roadster and Cybertruck, they could have sold millions of Model 2s in that time.

I was hammering the tesla model S 6 weeks ago with +32 degrees outside in germany. Till the battery was empty 200 kmh +. No problem at all. No overheating or power loss by acceleration back to 200+ noted.

@@danburkland i must add that i did not have any overheating problems with my old 2019 model 3 performance. Buuuut, the battery was running low so quick with 200+ speeds that i almost never went there. It was very loud as well. Like a natural overheating protection. Make it feel unsafe and uncomfortable above 200kmph - problem solved. :D

Electric car hammering at German Autobahn and not chilling on the right lane (nothing against right laneing but this is more appropriate for a performance car) Can you do a 1000km challenge in Germany at the autobahn? How much will the higher speed affect the time to take in addition to the higher consumption? Would love to see you testing this

Nice car (I own the "old e-tron GT RS") but prices are insane more than ever. Subtract 50k (base price) and people might buy one. I know the Taycan Turbo GT is even more expensive but honestly... it's an Audi, not an Aston Martin).

You seem to mention that eGMP cars have big delta between min-max battery temperature and that some cells are hot and some are cold. Actually, from the design of the pack (shown for example by Munro) ‒ it is somewhat high-ish pouch cells that are cooled from the bottom (on one of their small sides) ‒ I'm guessing the situation is that _all_ the cells are hot at the top and cool on the bottom, that each cell has a temperature gradient in it. And I'd also guess it wasn't a mistake, that it was cost-saving decision.

it looks as if the temperature of the battery is very sluggish. It only gets warmer slowly, but the heat is hardly dissipated, although there is a ∆T of over 30°C between "inlet" and "battery"

Above 180-200 no need change lane each time unless someone is faster and wants to overtake. In mid october i'll get my id4 pro goal. I will report about my daily drivin (long distances but not 1000km each day (; I hope i can travel around 150km/h if possible for 250km.

In a new video from Lucid on RU-vid-which is a must-watch-Peter Rawlinson explains that efficiency should be the most important factor for electric vehicles. The time it takes to charge and the distance you can drive after charging are crucial. Lucid’s goal is to achieve 1 kWh/10 km at 112 km/h (70 miles/h). It would be exciting if Bjørn could organize a 1000 km race between the fastest cars. It's a shame that Bjørn hasn't had the chance to test the Lucid Air yet.

You won’t. Even ICE cars with 600hp are hardly providing that. I drove an Rs6 all out and it consumed 28l/100km. You can hardly go above 300km per ago

@@fabio_1094 6 Cyl Diesel will do it. A6/Merc E Class/BMW 5. But ofc with less acceleration compared to RS6 or Etron. Cruising between 200 and 250 should use around 15 Liters of Diesel/100km.

Target was: Munich -> Hamburg run, fast as possible without any ticket or loss of driving license Conditions: - start 6:30 pm - dry weather - medium/less traffic - many (about 20) road construction areas with length of 2-20km - dozens of speed limit areas, 80-120km/h (49,7-74,6mph) - pushed the button down where ever it was possible - S5 mode Results - route: A96 then A7 - effective run time 5h for 804km (500mls) - average fuel consumption: 22,5l/100km (10,69MPG) - three stops for refuel - average speed ~160km/h (~100mph) ((lower than the 175km/h in this video)) - max speed 335km/h (208mph) - min speed 70km/h (43,5mph)" If we assume the diesel has a higher efficiency (but also has to be ran harder with less traffic to make up the lower average speed) then something between 17-20 l/100km is likely, for a 350-400km range on a 70l tank. I'll also note that this kind-of consumption is not out of place at all for these kinds of speeds, I have seen numbers as high as 37l/100km (Porsche Cayenne, 260km/h). According to the Taycan and Audi e-tron GT forums people driving on the Autobahn just following traffic at 180-200 km/h and not driving "aggressively" get around 300wh/km, so if you can keep to those speeds 300km is absolutely possible.

IIRC then a Bugatti Veyron will run dry after 15 minutes at top speed. So not all that unusual. Extreme example I know. But at full speed any cars "SoC" will drop fast. Not what "charge" they use. :)

If you watch Mishas videos, even the cars that are _actually_ bought primarily for tracking, including the GT3s and GT4s basically always have *at least* after market brake pads and in most cases after market brake fluid. Personally I certainly wouldn't want squeaky race pads in a daily driver.

The A8 Audi V6 tdi 286 hp light hybrid is my favorite car with 6,5 l diesel consumption on 100 km and has 1200 km range. It runs up to 250 km without any problem and can follow the etron it would not accelerate so fast between 200-250 km but would keep up easily . Then consumption goes to 9 l but yet no need to stop for charging . At 250 it is perfectly silent and comfy. So the electric car may be more energy efficient but to be rangewise so performant as the diesel it would need a 900kwh battery!!! EV s are still dinosaure concerning energy storage and performance.

For some seconds, then it has to throttle. That's the whole point of the Video. But a direct comparison would be interesting. Like Björn says, Tesla is not too bad at cooling.

@@paescu_2k350 you need around 500hp for 350km/h, so thats Not the Problem. I guess everything gets super expensive If it is eligable for These speeds.

@@davidstud3952 The issue is that the rotor in the electric motor is expanding, need special material to spin at such high RPM or different gears.. Thats why Plaid has a carbon sleeved rotor to limit expansion and damaging the motor. And on 250+ you need special Tires, Breaks, Spoiler for downforce, so its easier for most manufactures to limit the top speed

Cum poate fi o mașină electrică RS ? Este o copie și nimic nu se compară cu senzația de a conduce un RS adevărat! Câți Km merge cu 250 km așa spus RS electric ? Probabil 100 km și dacă faci asta de 100 ori trebuie să schimbi bateria! Decât așa mașină m-ai bine mă plimb cu TGV😂
