Im so blessed to have been given eyes and ears to witness such a beautiful and powerfull icon from a bygone era....... What a sight and sound Pure bliss !!!!
Great piece of montage - The Audi S1 will always be in Rally's history books as the car that set new standards of power & grip! - love it, many thanks :)
Beautiful... absolutely beautiful. One of my favourite videos on RU-vid.. pound for pound. Rally in the woods. You can't beat it. Reminds me of Forest Rally Stage at Goodwood Festival of Speed. Stig Blomqvist was there driving the S1 quattro. Was a dream to watch. I hope this car remains forever as I am a huge fan. So glad I found this video and thank-you. Any chance of buying this footage anywhere (so as to enjoy even more without the website address) Cheers.
I have a 1984 UR quattro (WR engine) in mint condition, my wife says that i think more of the car than i do of her, i replied that she was silly, i think more of our dog than i think of her... Those KW engines (Sport quattro) were superb, they used them in IMSA racing in the U.S rated at a very reliable 700 bhp, Vorshsprung dork Technik !! P.s Thanks for leaving the Stratos on.
@serpentchimera eifel rally in Germany, rally legend in Italy . once you hear and see these cars, impossible to take pleasure with modern one (irc, wrc ...)
yeah but not like a s1 !! s1 sound is the sound of god for me (porsche cgt too !) !! cant' miss next 2010 eifel rally, because of this goosebumps I have when the s1 comes .... legendary thx for having uploaded a nice video without music, just pure sound !! 5 *
This whole video brings tears to the eyes: Real Cars, and, as said by Bayer89, the most wonderful music ever played by internal combustion... PS Wonder what the insurance is for an S2??? ;-)
Yeah, like muffler55 said, contrary to the myth that the sound comes from a wastegate flutter or BOV, it actually is compressor surge due the high pressures hitting back in the turbo.
I think @ 2:11, the Audi S1 in his rearview-mirror made him nervous ;) The Urquattro is known as Porsche-Killer all over the world ^^ Haha, and the Stratos @ 8:08 also ^^
wenn ich die wahl hätte zwischen Audi s1 und einem Lamborghini Murcielago zu wählen hätte ich den S1 genommen. das ist so ein geiles auto vorallem der sound ohhh eargasm
800 some people understand fine german engineering when they see it .the company that went up against mercedes in teh 30s and won. is still doing it today. with teh quattro
know i have posted the same message everywhere but need all to know In 2004/5/6? (cannot remember) a metro 6r4 (probably the slowest of the Groub B Cars) came 8th despite going off backwards at 80mph, and set some fastest stage times in Ireland Overal against the WRC cars (at the hands of Colin McRae RIP) just goes to show that a well driven S1/T16/S4 could possibly still win rallies over 20 years later against modern technology.
I take your point, but its not all about raw horsepower, todays wrc cars are slightly faster on tight twisty stages with all the electronic trickery they have, and Group b would be faster on open stages, btw Group B cars were very restricted, but turbo power put 1.8 - 2.1ltr engines in the 600bhp bracket but these cars found it difficult to put power down, Todays cars on the other hand put power down with ease
