Hey Nick, I know it's confusing but the transmission was in D mode (regular mode) when you did the drag race. When you switch to dynamic mode, after you started the car, the transmission goes into S. But you can easily put the transmission into D mode while in Dynamic by mistake (by flipping the paddle back). It's really subtle. The cracks and pops are only present when the transmission is in S and Engine response in Dynamic.

My BMW butler still works just fine, thank you very much!

Nice vid- had a B8 S5 before my 911 C2S, so I can relate to how the car is great, but also what it lacks. The B9 is gorgeous... just wish we had the black optics pkg like in Europe/RoW... and clear corners :)

Hi Nick, thanks for all the videos, I really enjoying them. I need a help deciding whether to get a used M4 or a new Audi S5. Like you mentioned on the video, S5 feels more like a luxury vehicle than a sports car which I agree. However, I will be using car as daily drive and located DC area with occasional snow storms. I do love how M4 drive though but kinda concern in winter.

Another good one here, Nick. Could not live with the toned down exhaust -just my preference. Have a great weekend.

For the switchpath dont you need a remote to open or close the exhaust valves? Ive heard those before and there is a big difference between open and closed. Im not sure how that works with the stock set up, but thinking about it the valves should still open... who knows

I have a B9 S5 coupe to drive to and from the hospital.. it's an amazing daily driver and my compromise for a 911 as I don't have 911 money saved up yet.

You needed to put it in S dynamic, pull the shifter back once in D dynamic it's a bit faster

I have a 2019 S5 and if u wanna make it louder you gotta put it in dynamic so the valves actually open

The exhaust valves don't open by putting the transmission in S mode, you have to put the drive select into Dynamic for that to happen.

Nick, I’m not an expert in the modes on the Audi, nor how it works with the switchpath. However I noticed during your driving shots you were in individual mode, and switching back and forth between D and S on the shifter. I think that just changes the shift points and the throttle sensitivity. Don’t think it changes the exhaust. I could be wrong, but that could be why you weren’t hearing a difference.

You sure you were in dynamic on that drag race? It didn't down shift at all. Not that I expected it to win.

Nick I have a 2018 S5 great car, but they put the cup holders in a poor position as well as the stop/start button.

Also BMW F32's have a seat belt butler. That's unless you get an M4. Which doesn't.

This is such an amazing car !!! I have the same car, also in black with the red seats and the large wheels but without all these chrome !!! The car really looks stunning and all the peolpe are looking at it when i´m driving around, asking me if this is the new RS5, just funny ... :-) When i saw this new model the first time in 2016 it thought, oh no, it´s so ugly, especially the front. So i bought another B8 S5, previous. But than and than, i was going to be a big fan of the new one and ordered one in 2018. I recieved it in mai, just a few days after the production has been stopped again. Really a great car and much louder than the previous model. If you go onto the dynamic mode you will have a really nice sound. Not to loud, but it´s really enough. The interieur is also great., the seats and all the new functions. Just great, i´m really very happy with my S5 !!!

Hey Nick, S5 Sportback owner here. You have to change the drive mode from the actual button. You had it individual the entire time. There is an S/D mode for each of the drive modes. So switching it from D to S in individual mode won't make the exhaust sound different. You have to change it from individual to dynamic or adjust your individual settings!

Looks like a nice car, I still prefer the way BMW's handle over Audi though, more balance. I drove a Kia Stinger GT recently and was pleasantly surprised by that, the handling was very impressive and it was a very nice place to be on the inside.

Audi switching to 6 cylinders throughout most of their S/RS range was one of the saddest bits of automotive news I've heard in a while. I'm open to V6s sounding good but nothing can replace those high RPM V8s

This 100% would be my car if they offered it in manual. Ended up switching to BMW because of it wasn't, But the 440i has been plenty fun.

The GT Mustang is the #1 selling sports car in Germany outselling many of the cars your reviewing, all for $44,000 euros until the German government hacks figure a way to tax American V8’s.

nobody should be comparing new Audi interior with the BMW 4 series range. It's from 2013. Its bound to look dated in comparison. Loved the review though man !

I don't think not having a manual option makes it LESS sporty. I mean, that statement doesn't make a whole lot of sense, especially fast-forward to 2021 when all new Audis new cars are automatic.

It sounds the same because you didn’t change the mode 😂 you stayed in “individual mode” and just went from drive to sport gearbox. So the exhaust wouldn’t change.
